It's been a while since my last update so I figured I'd stop in here and shove a bunch of photos in your faces! Gently. most of these recipes are over on my blog if anybody is interested in them. a few of them aren't, but if anyone is curious i might have the mfp recipe card saved and i could paste it here :) vegan gravy…

What are sunchokes like? How do you prepare them? I see them at the local grocer next to the ginger and the jicama but never know what I would do with them if I bought them.

This morning (well, last night really) I made overnight steel cut oats. It was pretty easy to do. 1 cup dry oats, 2 cups water, a mashed banana, pinch of salt, and cinnamon. Boil the water, add the oats + everything else and cook for 1 minute. Turn off the heat, cover, and go to bed. In the morning I added in chopped…

I think that tofu scramble is probably my favorite way to prepare it, but fried tofu is probably my favorite way to eat it ;P For a scramble I like to cook some onion, garlic, and peppers in a little olive oil then add the crumbled tofu to it. Season liberally (tofu is pretty bland on its own) with whatever spices you…

black bean soup 1 can of black beans 1 cup salsa 1 cup stock partially puree the hot soup to make it a little thick while still leaving some whole beans in tact. it's even better if you add a can of refried beans and a little more stock. thickens it up and taste great. i always add a ton of southwestern seasoning to it…

I think you can make portion control work for you. You mentioned that you've tried it and you can't resist eating seconds - this is something that I do as well. My solution has been to make just enough food that seconds isn't an option. Someone else mentioned something I do, which is to make 3 portions and let him have 2.…

do you mean raw AND vegan or raw OR vegan? if cooked stuff is ok, i have a bean soup that i make that is ridiculously easy and fast. at the most basic level it's a can of refried beans, a can of black beans, a cup of salsa, and a cup or two of vegetable stock. i usually add a lot more to this, but if i'm in a hurry the…

that hasselback potato is beautimous - i want to eat it!

mediterranean salad with broccoli, brown rice, red quinoa, chickpeas, pecans, parsley, lemon, and olive oil.

I bottled my limoncello tonight. There is so much of it that I don't even know what to do with it all. I don't even like to drink alcohol very much, but I wanted to try and make it anyway. It's so lemony and sweet (and stroooong!)

made a roasted cauliflower and white cheddar soup last night that turned out awesome. i got to put several new christmas presents to use while making it too :D

I actually love pizza without sauce. My favorite pizza is just buffalo mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, and fresh basil. Drizzle of olive oil over the top and some chili flakes. It's perfection to me.

brown butter snickerdoodles for christmas presents... with monsters drawn on them.

I just had to give this a quick bump to show what happened to my balcony as a result of this storm. This picture I took in the morning, of the ice sheet very slowly sliding off the roof of my apartment building. You can't tell from the photos but the ice blocks are a good 6 inches thick. Management had sent out notices…

I've never heard of screwpine leaves - what are they like?

thank you! hah... i just realized i posted the large version of the bean photo. oops. >_> here is the smaller size that fits properly within the forum window, since i'm unable to edit my previous post now:

i used to hate avocados, but probably within the last year i've learned to enjoy them. i still can't eat big chunks of plain avocado, but i like them mashed up. when i first started eating them i would mash them with cream cheese and herbs to spread on sandwiches and wraps. the ratio of avocado to cheese had shifted in the…

The veggies all cooked up. I love how the purple potatoes look. edit - forgot to add the other side dish i made last night. parmesan thyme cannellini beans.

Oh man I remember these. I used to get them at Borders. They were absolutely sinful. :o I gotta say I make a pretty mean hot chocolate at home though - I think it even tops it!

impulse buying comes in many forms. mine comes in the form of beautiful baby red carrots. gonna make some awesome rosemary roasted veggies tonight with this haul.

i'm a jerkface for always posting sweets, but i keep making them. i made two batches of cookies as a barter exchange for a christmas gift for my niece. fortunately they aren't around to tempt me anymore :p snickerdoodles with brown butter and ginger oatmeal cookies with dark chocolate and dried cherries soaked in vanilla

Thank you! I could always help it fit in by asking people if they would rather "frame, throw away, french kiss, bar brawl with, or marry" my photos. ;) Thanks for the positive comments everyone. You know how to make a gal feel nice :D

Thanks for the kind words everyone! The ice is already starting to melt away this morning so I'm glad I was here to capture it when it hit :)

Yeah one of the girls in my boot camp was really looking forward to that run and is sad she didn't get to do it, but totally understands their decision to cancel. Apparently a lot of people were furious and still wanted to run it. I had enough trouble standing without falling on my *kitten* when I was out there. I can't…
