thanks, i am definitely going to try this. i often substitute salsa when i dont have fresh tomato so i might try that too. i had never thought about tomato in tuna before but it might be good.

i make a tuna salad that i keep around all summer for quick snacks for my entire family. the kids even love it. 1 box hodgson mill whole wheat bowties 3 cans tuna in water (drained but not too well) 1 lg onion diced 3 stalks celery diced 1/2-3/4 cup greek yogurt plain (depends how much dressing you like) 2 tbsp light mayo…

just an fyi, i used to use alli occasionally. i had labwork done (for other reasons) and found that my liver enzymes were elevated. i immediately stopped the use of alli. i had my labwork rechecked after a month and they were back to normal. i have no health problems and no ther reason for my liver enzymes to be elevated.…

eat more frequently, i try to eat every 2-2.5 hours at 200-250 calories each meal. if you still need more calories increase the portion size of your foods.

my favorite way to use them is rinse canned beans, simmer with a can of rotel tomatoes (they are spicy so no additional spices needed) and a chopped onion, 30 minutes and they taste delicious. i put them over brown rice or on whole wheat tortillas with chicken. they are great just with chopped grilled chicken in them as…

i have 3 kids too, thought it might be impossible with as stretched out as it gets when you are pregnant. my stomach is pretty good now, a tiny bit of flabby skin (i keep hoping it will get tighter) but no fat, quite flat and toned. i believe with a flat stomach number #1 is to lose body fat, i am not talking about pounds…

i have teenagers so i understand the junior sizing. Juniors are 0, 1, 3, 5, 7 , 9 ,11, 13. regular womens clothes are sizes 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14. they do not compare. i can wear size 4 womens jeans and 7 or 9 in juniors. often though i like the way the juniors fit (even though i dont like looking at the higher…

#3 has always been difficult for me. i was trained in my childhood that dinner is the biggest meal. i even used to save calories throughout the day so that i could have a bigger dinner. i have been able to, over the years, cut down on my dinner portions, although it is still one of my bigger meals but barely. i try to eat…

i love the whole wheat pasta "hodgson mill". it looks really brown on the shelf and like it would taste bad but it is really good. it is not low calorie but it is 100% whole grain whereas some of the other brands are only partially wheat.

i know, i have been trying to decrease my time and wow it is hard. to cut down even 30 seconds is a challenge. its fun to keep doing the runs though, something to strive for and work hard. good luck on your next one!!

i ate way too much today and feel terrible right now. i am trying to get some energy to go run but its hard when you feel so stuffed full. i dont regret it because i am at my goal weight for quite a while now and it works for me to have a day where i just dont think about it. i never miss the exercise though, ran a 5k…

i do "light" weights with a lot of reps but when trainers say light weights they dont mean weight that it is so light that you could go on for 100 times. light weight should still be heavy enough that when are finished you set, your couldnt do another one. whether you do 10/12/15/25 reps, your muscles should be fatigued at…

i started running about 5 months ago and i just made up my own program. i ran until i couldnt run anymore, then id walk and run again. at least 6 days/week. i started doing some short sprints (at fast as i possibly could for 100-150ft then walk for a few minutes and repeat), i ran outside and on the treadmill, i mixed it…

sounds like a hip flexor, i pulled one a few months ago, i could barely walk. i took it easy for a week and it got better after about 2 weeks. i used to ice and heat it, whatever felt better at the time.

i agree, my stomach turned when i read about the ingredients, i had NO idea. it has turned me off of jello too. just put it this way, jello is not eaten by vegetarians, it is has meat products in it!!

is the "reward" for eating all of her dinner? i guess i would eliminate the whole idea of needing to eat all of her food. that is why some of us struggle with weight because we were habitually eating everything that was given to us vs using our own bodies signs of when we were full.

i like food too but now if i only keep the right foods here they are not nearly as tempting as things that i eat "out of control". the rest of my family just cant have them either. when i eat healthier food i feel mych fuller and less tempted by other food. if i eat sugary foods, i cant stop eating. i also do a lot of…

i am not even a real "sweets" eater but since i have tried to decrease the amount of sugar in my diet i notice a difference. if i even eat one source of sugar i definitely want more. its strange how it makes you crave more. i try to avoid sugar at all cost and if i have a small amount for a special occasion, i make sure it…

good luck, i had some shin splints and i was told to try to run through them. i did and they went away but it took a few months. ouch!! it was a lot of fun and i will definitely do it again!

thanks for the tips. i have been doing intervals, sprints, inclines but obviously not enough. i will go to runners world and see what they have,. i will also explain, i did not do much training in the week post 1/2 marathon but i mean the training for the past 4-5 weeks (pre 1/2). i should have not have run that 5K but i…

i am whole heartedly against the use of "pills" for weight loss but i agree with one statement above regarding weight loss. i work in the open heart intensive care unit (after heart bypass surgery). most of these people are over weight and have been trying to lose weight for many years. maybe if some of them had done a…

appreciate the advice, i am writing it down now and will try the 5 miler in the am at the gym. sounds tough but i will try it, i have never even tried higher than a 9 on the treadmill. as long i dont fall off, lol. thanks again. 21 is a awesome time, if i can even get to the 24 min range i would be thrilled.

there is a doctor in town (he is a real doctor, a cardiologist actually) who also runs a weight loss clinic, he gives various injections weekly, appetite suppressants and pills to increase your metabolism and 500 calories/day. yes people lose weight, anyone with common sense can tell this is not the ideal way to lose…

try switching it up, i see many people who just go on there and do the same 30 minutes everyday. i occasionallly use the ellipitical and try to do 5 mins with 10 resistance/10 crossramp, then rest 1 minute. then i do 1 min intervals at crossrampresistnace 11/12/13/14/15 rest 1 minute. then i do 1 min sprints at 15-20…

well i just ran a 5K today (6 days after my 1/2 marathon). i was trying to decrease my time for the 5K but i couldn't. i got the exact same time as the last 5K i ran (25min 40sec). i was trying not to be disappointed but i was. i thought i had trained more and could decrease my time. i'm not sure if i was still…

i love reduced calorie triscuits, no high fructose corn syrup or trans fats, very clean ingredients (whole grain soft white winter wheat, soybean oil, salt). my favorite is using these and dipping into 1% cottage cheese.

my friend is filipino and she always used to eat avocado with milk and sugar. i started making for my kids, just finely dice up avocado and sprinkle with a little sugar/sweetener and cover with skim milk, delicious, even the kids ask for it.
