I bought a heart rate monitor about 3 months into my journey. Before that I was just using what MFP calculated for each activity I was doing. My elliptical has a calories burned measurment, but it is way off my HRM. Last night, the elliptical estimated I burned 50 more calories than my HRM. I have never entered my weight…

I think that this board has been one of the biggest reasons I have continued on my journey this year. Seeing other's results and the length of time to get there has helped me stay focused and know that other people are having great successes.

Walking was my first form of exercise when I started on this journey in July. I walked outside mostly, but when it was too hot to walk, I used Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile with weights (on VHS!, they are from like 2001). The walking was instrumental in me losing weight in the beginning along with eating right. I think they…

I started out monthly. About 3 months into, I was close to a goal and became a daily weigher. Made myself borderline nuts doing that and finally quit after about a month of it. Now I set myself small goals which could be weekly, biweekly, or monthly and weigh myself on that schedule. I weighed in yesterday and I won't do…

I just made the comment to my husband that 6 months ago, I looked at Pinterest to get yummy (naughty) food recipes. Now I look at it for fitness and exercise posts!

I wouldn't steer clear of it, but eat it in moderation. I allow myself a treat here and there, log it and make sure I stay within my limits. If I feel the need to over indulge then I make it up in exercise. That way you don't feel cheated and you know what it will take to burn it off. Sometimes just knowing how long on the…

Thank you! That was great information to have.

Rock it out girl! You look fabulous!

I am talking over a week or two week period since this is how often I weigh myself. I think the water weight to the muscles for repair is most likely the issue with me. I tend to get scared when I see the scale stop, retreat and go back to what worked to make it go down. And I do take measurements but only every month, not…

White, 5'8", 186 lbs, size 14. I was a wide build prior to babies and it got even worse, not sure single digit sizes are in my future,

Definitely read success stories. I think that has been one of the most important parts of my success with weight loss this time. I see that it can be done everyday. Know that this isn't a phase, it's a process, it's a lifestyle. If you aren't committed to making it a lifestyle you have less chance for success. Find…

My first goal was 175, seemed like a good number. I'm 5'8". Now I am 11 pounds away from that and my goal is looking more like 158-160. I was about 170 on my wedding day and I had some chunk I could get rid of then (that was 3 babies, and 17 years ago!) Knowing that my body is a bit different from prebaby days I'm not…

I agree with the poster who said mini goals. I started out at 240, 5'8" wearing a size 20. July 1st I started a 10 day vacation from work and I told myself I was going to walk everyday for a month just to prove to myself I could do something for a month. My daily walks turned into my daily motivational talk with myself. A…

Why don't you try both of them from the library and decide which one you need in your home library. I have out on loan now from the library NROWL4W. I think it may be a book I actually buy some day but I'm not quite ready for the program just yet. I haven't read the other book.

Sauteed zucchini and onions. Baked sweet potatoes. Baked sweet potato fries (peel, cut the size of fry you like, spray with PAM, and bake depending on size). Red potatoes, zucchini, onions and tomotoes roasted in the oven. Hungry now!

You have a great smile! Congrats!

We don't have a microwave (by choice), is there another way to cook?

All I can say is YOU GO GIRL!

My weight loss has been gradually slowing down in the past month, and I have considered the EMWL option. I need to do a weigh in a the dr for my health insurance. Once that is done, I will be experiementing with all kinds of things like lifting, and upping my calories. My biggest fear upping my calories is I will head…

It's hard, I know. I work full time, have 3 kids (11, 9, 4), and have a household to take care of. My husband has been instrumental in me getting to where I am today. I tell my kids that I am going to exercise and they need to find something productive to do if they don't want to exercise with me. I have several videos, 30…

Thank you. I was really trying not to freak out. I knew it wasn't possible to gain that much weight, I guess i just needed to hear it from someone else. I've been at this for 5 months and haven't ever had a cheat day, so I wasn't sure what kind of fluctuation I would see.

I didn't log in my food on thanksgiving, but I don't feel like I went hog wild. I had a little but of everything in small portions. I walked twice that day for 45 minutes each time. Didn't eat dinner because I was too full. I really felt like I kept myself in check. BUT, the scale this am showed me 5 pounds more than…

Great job! Sweet hat, go Tigers!

As a proud dairy producer, I can attest to the fact that not ALL livestock are injected with hormones and antibotics. Actually it's these statements that drive me mad because you can't blanket all things together in any manner. There are a good many dairy producers out there that take great care of their animals to produce…

Awesome job! Sometimes we just have to take that chance and see we won't fail. I did a Bob Harper cardio video for a whole hour yesterday and didn't feel like I couldn't keep up with the skinny minnies on the tv. Don't think I could do it today but like you said one foot in front of the other!

I feel the same way. It is so odd to once again feel bones! And I do find myself touching my body and flexing my muscles now! I love it....I'm sure everyone else is sick of me saying look look while I'm all flexed out!
