  • I don't believe in eliminating everything either. If I am hungry for something "forbidden", then I make a plan to include that or I eat it and cut something else out. I don't force myself to have breakfast if I'm not hungry for it, and there have been a few days where I don't eat until supper time. I have cut out 95% of…

  • Boy, do I know this to be true! I have a pattern where I lost semi-consistently at first, maybe the first month, when I was losing weight a few years ago. Then in the 2nd and 3rd month and on, I pretty much stayed the same for 3 weeks out of the month and then the fourth week, usually the week of my menses (sorry guys), I…
  • When I was trying to lose weight a few years ago by logging religiously, I found that I would stay basically the same weight, give or take 1/2 pound, for 3 weeks and then all of a sudden have a loss and then stay the same again for another 3 weeks and lose the 4th week and so on. I think it just has to do a lot with your…
  • I find my appetite is controlled a lot by how much sugar or bad carbs I eat (such as bread, rolls, rice, pasta, etc). Now I am not saying to stop eating them altogether, but finding a reasonable limit for yourself may be the answer and maybe it will calm down your appetite.
  • I am so glad to see this thread too. I am 49 and I can't wait for menopause to set in, but I do worry about the after effects. It seems there is lots of good advice posted already and it's comforting to know that I should still be able to lose weight at my age. I have a goal set for myself for 15 months from now, so…
  • You have done sooo well!! Congratulations on the weight loss. I am so happy that you posted this. I am close to in the same boat you were 2 years ago and I really want to succeed, so seeing the story of someone who once was where I am is very inspiring. I just have to never give up.
  • Hello! I am 48 (soon to be 49) and I would love more friends to give and receive support from. This is my second serious go-around and I am a week in and so far (fingers crossed), it's working again for me. It was so much easier when I was younger!!! If I only had the foresight to know it would be harder now with age. My…
  • I am a week in with my starting over and am always on the lookout for support. I'll send a FR to you :)
  • I think you have taken one of the best steps just by joining MFP. I also have a lot to lose, and was doing very well last August through December, and then took some time off. It was only supposed to be a few weeks, but those weeks turned into months and I have gained almost all of the weight back. Anyways, the hardest…
  • I think that you have had a great weight loss so far. This is totally doable if you are eating considerably less than you were before, though I agree - I would not go too low even with the exercise. Being married to a man who was close to 450 pounds when he started losing weight, It was nothing for him to lose 20 pounds…
  • We are also doing the brussel sprouts with bacon bits and onion. Another healthy side that everyone enjoys is steamed broccoli - gotta have that for those that don't like brussel sprouts. Also making coleslaw using grated cabbage, carrots, and half of a green pepper. Homemade dressing using: - 1 cup light Miracle Whip - 1T…
  • On the other hand, that's why this site is so great. With the logging of the food, it makes us so much more aware of serving sizes. Eating using smaller plates helps with this though. Using actual serving sizes, the food usually fits the plate instead of using what my mind considers a serving size. Yes, I am bummed that my…
  • I am glad you posted. I was starting to get depressed by reading these. Mostly everyone is wearing a smaller size than I did at their weights. SW: 302 - a tight 26, thus the muffin spillage CW: 282 - still a 26, though fitting much better. I can't wait for the next 20 pounds to be gone so I can get back into my 24s.
  • I make oatmeal just about every morning during the week and this is close to what I make except I dice up a fresh apple, sprinkle with Splenda and cinnamon, add a few raisins and microwave for a minute. I then add my oatmeal and water to the apple mixture and microwave 2 more minutes. I have also substituted 1/4 cup of…
  • I had a hard time believing this was a serious post. After all, a gallon of water is 8 pounds alone and there are no calories in it. seriously?
  • I weigh every morning. I have to see what the number is, but I don't get obsessed over it. It just helps to keep me in check. The weight I track and record on here weekly is my Wednesday morning weigh-in.
  • It is funny how when we go on a "diet" all we seem to think about are the foods we can't have, which makes us end up wanting them all the more. Think of this as a lifestyle change and not a period of deprivation. If you truly think you will be able to live the rest of your life w/o ever eating carbs again, then go for it…
  • Right up my alley! There are so many factors that can affect weight loss. If you are eating at a deficit and exercising, the weight loss will eventually show up. I pretty much only lose about 2 weeks out of the month and actually for the last 3-1/2 weeks stayed the same, still eating at a deficit, and finally at my last…
  • Liver and onions (and still now occasionally). Cold hot dogs right out of the package, though I would never ever eat a cold hot dog now.
  • Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth on A&E and Until September. Have 'em both on DVD.
  • Usually I am way under on my calories when I have a cold. I eat chicken soup and drinks loads of hot tea. I also take 2 chewable vitamin C tablets a day while sick. I avoid dairy because it seems to produce excess mucus (gross, I know).
  • Used to be "my bad", but the my boys have moved on from that saying, but guess who said it just the other day? their 71yo grandma!!!! WTH? We had to tell her that was old school.
  • Your photos are great! You should be so proud of what you've accomplished. It's okay that you haven't lost in the last 2 months. You took some time for yourself or maybe subconsciously you needed the time for yourself. Now it's time to regroup and continue on in your weight loss. It sounds like you have made the decision…
  • Everyone has bad days - trust me. Just know that as long as you are eating with a deficit but not starving yourself, results will come. It may not be in the time frame that we set, but it will happen. The body is a tricky machine and each one is different. We do not lose weight at the same rate and I know that seeing…
  • Congrats on being engaged!!! I think that you can lose some of the weight and make yourself feel better. You are young and it is so much easier at 19 for you to lose than at my age (47) and you are trying to lose 25 pounds as opposed to a lot more. I say give it your best and changes will come your way!!! Just dedicate…
  • Welcome!! I am 2 months into my journey here on MFP and I find that reading the forums is a great source of inspiration and motivation. I haven't told but a few people in my real life about my trying to lose weight and the friends I have made here are a great support to me. They don't judge me when I'm having a day and…
  • I feel your pain. I stayed pretty much the same weight for 3 weeks and then a 1/2 pound loss. Guess what? TOM is late for me by 3-1/2 weeks and finally came this week. I followed my program diligently except for 1 day in the last 4 days or so. If you eat within your limits the loss will come eventually. Hormones are hell…
  • I regularly drink Lipton green tea with jasmine and orange (I think), Bigelow pomegranate green or black tea, Bigelow Constant Comment tea, or Bigelow vanilla chai tea in the evenings. If you want something that needs no sweetener, try the Celestial Seasonings apple and cinnamon tea. It's really powerful both in taste and…
  • I'm here everyday and log 98% of the time. I'll send you a request.
