By far you are not alone. There are a great deal of us with a lot of weight to lose, but the variety of the people who have lost a lot or a little and who are losing a lot or a little is great! I get so motivated reading the success stories and just gathering information from all over this site. Some of it I apply and…

I would be happy to add you or vice versa. Sending a FR to you :)

I'm so glad you made the choice to give this a try again. I've only joined at the end of August (5 weeks as of tomorrow), and it has been one of the best decisions in my life. I find the logging in of my foods keeps it real and makes me accountable. Also for me, I find reading the success stories and seeing the pics gives…

I am cooking for a teenage son, a mid-20s son, and a husband. Imagine their appetites!! LOL Yes, it can be challenging and for the most part I eat what they eat, but there are some days that I decide to make something different for me. Sometimes it can be just a sandwich or a salad or maybe even soup and a salad. One night…

I usually take the calorie information right from the package and compare it to the database. Typically the calories I don't verify are veggies and eggs. Everything else - make sure it's got the right count and then confirm when entering so that it's correct for others too.

Aaaah - I remember those days... I'm happy for you! It's the little things in life that make us the happiest :)

Ditto here. Had the cravings, ate consistently, ankles swelled up, gained a few pounds for about 5 or 6 days, and then back down again after TOM was done. If you're doing the right thing, then it will work itself out. Quick observation - when I was not trying to control my eating habits I didn't really every pay attention…

As long as you are working the plan, the weight will eventually come back down. One day I was down 2 pounds and the next day it was back up 3 pounds and stayed there for 4-5 days before it dropped back off. I knew I was eating right and it had to eventually come back down and it did. Somewhere I read that the first month…

Yes, I agree. I've kept pretty quiet about it too, but with the encouragement of my 2 sons and husband, as we all live in the same house, so they were bound to hear something about it. Plus, they were ones telling me I could do this if I really wanted to and they have never given me any words of encouragement before. Oh,…

You're story is great! What an inspiration. Seems like most of society has been programmed to think that the only way you can lose weight is to not eat and "starve" yourself. I appreciate the fact that you are eating at a comfortable level and still losing weight. Gives me hope.

Woot! Made the list for the first weigh-in (also the first 2 weeks of changing my eating habits). Just hoping for a loss this second one. Obstacles out of my control come into play these past 2 weeks (hormones - 'nuff said), but I am not giving up this time. I keep reading slow and steady wins the race. If only I would…

Welcome! I'm fairly new here and a friend turned me onto this site. It was 5 years this past February when my dad died and my downhill slide began. My turning point was getting the courage to step on a scale and then being horrified at the number. I can honestly say that after 30 days today being here, it's been one of the…

Mines a combination of one of my hobbies - quilting, and part of another username - ducky. Exciting huh? lol

You're only experiencing what almost everyone goes through when on a diet. I know, I know - I'm not supposed to say diet, but it is when we are trying to change our eating habits. Maybe try changing up the variety of what you are eating, maybe more fruits and veggies, or finding alternatives for the pasta (like spaghetti…

I prefer digital too. I have a Health O Meter scale made of tempered glass that registers up to 380 pounds and has memory for 4 users. I leave it in the same spot and it gives a consistent reading (I've tested it by getting on and off multiple times in the first few days to be sure it would be consistent, as my one scale…

First off, thanks for posting about this. I would love to have an alternative way of making a cake for when I decide to have it, and I am sure that the time will come. Contrary to some of the posts about the horrors of having cake, I think we can each make our own decisions on when to splurge and on what. Being on MFP is a…

We like the vanilla flavored soy milk in my household. The kids have had it just in a glass and in cereal. I have had it in cereal and smoothies. I never was one to just drink milk straight from the glass.

I had the Kindle with the keyboard (just black and white) for a year and now recently got a Kindle Fire. It took me a few weeks to get into reading on the Kindle after reading books for so long, but after that, I wouldn't go back. I gained so much room in my house from letting go of books that are not the ones that mean…

This is one of my biggest pet peeves - the darn steering wheel! I can't wait for the belly to get smaller so I have more room in the car. Thanks for posting - i't nice knowing I am not alone on this one.

Turning 47 in a few days, but still a kid at heart in attitude!! I used to always get told by my husband to "be more serious", but my response was that it is boring to be serious all the time. Here's to getting older and looking and feeling fabulous!

I am fairly new here too, but when you say you eat at Taco Bell 3-4 times a week, I would have to say cut that out definitely. I am avoiding any fast food restaurant right now. I used to get a McDouble sandwich from the 1$ menu and I thought maybe it would be 250 calories, but when I looked at the nutrition guide, it was a…

To make this more clear - When you are adding foods to your diary for the day - after you click 'add foods' it takes you to your most recently used foods. That is where you can delete foods you don't eat very often if you wish.
-
Is this your personal list that is tabbed Most Recent, etc?? If so, there is a green box at the bottom that you can delete foods that are checked off. Hope this helps.

Yes, probably at least double the calorie count what I am eating now. I would not guess much more volume wise, but definitely more rich in fats, carbs, and sugars.

I had my 1-week weigh in since starting last Wednesday and I am down 4 pounds, so this week so far is going well for me. I suck at drinking the right amount of water, and I still haven't really gotten myself into any regular form of exercise, just little bits here and there.

Lack of sleep is one of my downfalls. I average 5-6 hours a night. In a busy household, those late evenings are my time for relaxation and catching up on my hobbies. This is definitely something I have to make an effort to work on. While I was concentrating mainly on food this week, I need to get my body moving a little…

Great job on the 6 pounds and with keeping motivated! I was just thinking of this same thing I guess - except I was worrying about keeping motivated. It's one week down for me and a nice weight loss of 4 pounds. I think with the resources to log food and exercise is the key. It puts it in black and white and makes it so…

What an inspiration you are! Congratulations on your success. I love seeing the before and after pics of such a beautiful girl.

Hope you are feeling better today as well. Loneliness is very hard I agree. Maybe you have a close friend you could call and vent to - just having someone to listen without saying anything is helpful to me sometimes. I have a lot of hobbies, so I tend to turn to them when I am feeling blah or sometimes I just get in the…

Whew! Week 1 and what a challenge to start with. I have been having trouble with drinking enough water, but I'll do my darnedest to meet the goal. I"m so glad to be here and meet everyone :)
