I bought a road bike six months ago. I ride about 20 km 2-3 times a week listening to some good tunes. I am losing weight and am fitter. I do other stuff too, walking, kayaking, downhill skiing. I guess just being active and watching your calories is the answer.

I find eating foods high in protein cuts down on my cravings, e.g. eggs, salmon, peanut butter, chicken, nuts, beans, protein shakes.
