I consume water every day through the food I eat, the tea and coffee I drink. I do not drink loads extra. Am still to be convinced of the benefits. Flushing all the goodness out of my body constantly seems strange, and dont tell me I am dehydrated - my lovely champagne coloured wee tells me different, and I only go a few…

Deffo agree - I have not upped my activity levels at all so far - that is the next goal now I feel so much better - so have lost my 52lb purely by diet. I now feel able to look at exercise less scared about what effects it will have on me - I suffer from fybromyalgia and asthma. so making a start on just looking at what…

me too!

THIS - I was called obsessive about losing weight by a work colleague this week - I am not obsessive, I am persevering in changing the way I eat for the rest of my life! (He also threw in the "you have lost enough now and starting to look haggard" comment in to make me feel really good!) You are judged when you are…

no 5 - cos i like the lights :)

I have IBS and often have an upset stomach - i find that mashed potato with a little salt (no butter!) and drinking peppermint tea help me the most - a strange combination maybe, but I am used to it!
-
This - don't stress over it - accept that our bodies don't have groundhog days - each day is different - and at least now you think about what is going in your body instead of just reaching for the cookies :)

"If i am not mistaken you said you want to take a month off... then come back and lose the last 5lbs? If you only have 5lbs... you think it will even show on you if you lose it? If i only had 5lbs to lose, i wouldn't care... you can gain or lose 5lbs in a day..." I know its anal - but the BMI chart at the docs is the goal…

Oh! I posted the above before jumping out of my bed for the Monday morning weigh in - and I have lost 2lb this week on maintenance. Is that cos I am eating more and my metabolism is fired up? I am very confused now.
-
you can do it! I have to say that losing this 50lb for me has been the easiest ever (and thats after 30+ years of weight watchers, slimming world, faddy diets etc etc etc). Using the calorie counter here and actually weighing my food (shocks on the amounts of pasta, rice and breakfast cereal I was eating!) has made me…

Yep - I am under 180lb for the first time in 20 years today - YAY :D

cheese and onion crisps; marmite and butter on crisp white toast....... yum

feel free to add me if you wish - I have logged in everyday for 265 days and have some great supportive friends.

Hi - from the UK too - welcome to MFP. If you log everything that you eat (whats the point of not putting it down, you know you ate it and you are only kidding yourself!) and keep to the weekly calories allocated (some days you can eat more as most days we all aim to be under!) then you will lose weight. I have found this…

whichever day you like :)

i am the same - bananas seem particularly full of sugar - but they are packed full of other essential stuff. As long as it's not processed sugar in buns and sweets that makes you go over, I wouldn't worry :)
-
No I am thinking about it because I wonder if I can maintain without putting on the weight - that is always what has happened in the past..... but I don't know if I want to stop. My goal was 3 stone - which seemed impossible - I have lost 3 stone 1.5 lb. perhaps 4 stone isnt so far away?!

A cup seems too variable to me - a cup of pasta twirls with lots of air space must weigh less than a cup of rice that you can pack in. So I always use my digital scales and weigh in grams (or oz if an old recipe).
-
And we thought our horsemeat in burgers scandal was big news.................
-
*BIg Hug* and keep going - you know if you continue you WILL see a change for the better; if you give up then things will just stay the same or get worse.
-
We dont have 'cups' in UK - we measure things on scales as this gives a true weight. You can pack a lot of stuff into a cup and make sure it is still within the cup!! If you weigh on scales then there is no variance on the amount, the weight is correct.

Feel free to add me if you like :)

i have kellogs mini-max if I want something sweet or an oaty cereal like porridge or oatibix. Today I tried All-bran chocolate clusters for a treat - they were yummy! Always weigh your cereal though, 40g is a lot less than you expect (or want!!)

You need to listen to what your body needs - I have to eat something by 10am or I feel lightheaded and my brain goes even more gaga - but then I also need to eat regularly so thats not unusual for me. My husband can go til mid afternoon without eating anything and feel fine. Neither is wrong, neither is right - they are…
-
Me and my husband do this as well - it has worked really well for both of us - he is only 1kg away from his goal which was losing 17kg! I am 5lb from mine (I don't do kilos :) ) Logging a new loss motivates us, and knowing why each day has ups and downs is very useful in knowing how our bodies are adjusting to the new way…

Its taken a while but I have realised that butter is better than those low fat spreads, and low fat just equals high amounts of sugar to make it taste OK. For the first time in years I have been eating what I like as long as it is within my calorie limits, and am gobsmacked that losing this much weight has been relatively…
-
Yes! And believe me it makes your eyes open wide when you weigh your 'portions' out!! When I first weighed out some breakfast cereal (40g), I thought - surely not...... have i something else on the scales? But I was actually eating nearly 3 x the recommended portion sizes before hand thinking that was normal (it probably…
