I thought this said Les Miles (the head football coach at LSU), and I was like... he has a body pump DVD...?

I used to avoid them. Now, I have them with dinner everyday.

That's fantastic! Great job on the race. I think you can really add some insight to people that are worrying about quitting smoking and gaining weight. Good luck training for your half marathon!

I notice that once I have a refined sugar (usually in the form of candy) -- I get cravings for the next 72 hours. After those 72 hours, they're basically non-existent, aside from an urge here or there. Just focus on getting through the next couple of days and things will correct themselves.

@kax - are you a football coach? I feel like that would be a killer pre-game speech.

Cut off his allowance. He's 15 and able to work.

My roommate is so guilty of this. We live blocks away from a local pizza / sub shop and on days where he's tired, he'll just go order something because he doesn't feel like cooking. With that said, try cooking all of your meals in advance (if possible). My coworker cooks all of his lucnhes for the week on Sunday night (he…

Try doing something instead of Zumba. Run outside or give it a go with some weightlifting. Also, you may want to start recording inches -- it's another way to track progress.

I used to use energy supplements with ephedra (before the FDA banned it... pu$$ies...) but seriously, I used to drink tons of coffee and even these supplements would make me feel wired out of my mind. I would stay away from this stuff. I also don't really drink coffee anymore, except on occassion (few times / month).

Sure - feel free to add me. Can you give me a bit more detail on your poor food choices? Are you eating out because of time constraints? Are you buying junk at the store? What was successful for you in the past?

The water isn't going to really shock your metabolism. In terms of ice cold water -- you're body does need to heat it up, but the amount of calories burned to do so (~10-15) is pretty insubstantial. I find that I lose weight the fastest when I drink the most water, but that's just me.

That's definitely Fenway in the backround! Go Sox (although they suck this year)!

BodyGlide actually makes a liquid powder, which I think is far superior than their solid stick. I have two pairs of shorts that cause me to chaffe, and all of the others are fine. In order to prevent chaffing on the upper body's contact points - I now wear an Under Armour base layer, which is basically skin tight, and I…

When the annoying, prissy girls at work say "Awkward" "I was at the bar checking my phone and this guy tried to talk to me. OMG, it was so awkward...!" Really, someone trying to talk to you at a bar was awkward? This is the bullsh*t I have to deal with sometimes...

On my box - it says 120 calories for 3/4 of a cup. Also, I eat the Heart to Heart® Cereal - Honey Toasted Oat. I'm 50/50 on their products. I like the cereals but their granola bars taste like cardboard.

Interesting dynamics at work here. I have one coworker who is a truly elite athlete (swam in college), especially when it comes to triathlons (he usually beats a few pro's when he races), but his diet isn't very good. His good choices are 50/50 -- sometimes he'll eat healthy, other times he'll get something awful - like…

Contextually, for some people a loss of 12-15 lbs could be 5-10% of their body weight, which is a pretty substantial figure.

For me - I drink a ton of water and that only partially neglects the effects of sodium. For instance -- yesterday was NFL sunday. I had some pizza, breaksticks, and buffalo wings. I could tell they had a ton of sodium. Despite drinking water all day long, I wake up and my knuckles and fingers are swollen. I can especially…

I lost the first 5-10 lbs in my face and most of my coworkers noticed. When I lost 10-15 lbs, just about everyone said -- "you look different."

I can't run with belts. I find them distracting and onerous.
-
I stay within a 1 lb range and then lose weight in bunches.

Warm up on 6.5. Run between 7.2-8.5, depending on length & intensity.

Sirloin and vegetables. Avoid the rice, mashed potatoes etc...

Want to see End of Watch tonight, but I have to do an hour or two on the bike trainer (Thank you, 3 slices of pizza). I have an 8 mile run tomorrow morning, then a 12 miler on Sunday.

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Uncle Ben's Jasmine Rice. Grilled Cheese's. The occassional human thigh.

Probably my road bike. I don't count my car or laptop since I need both.

Championships are won when the stands are empty.

I only use Gu when I know I'll be running over 120 minutes. In terms of foods that I found helpful: Swedish Fish, Fig Newtons, and Gummy Bears.
