There is also a theory to do with fat cells. If you gain more than 20% of your body weight, you are supposed to produce more adipose cells, which never go away and therefore, it is easier for you to gain weight. I personally believe that once you are overweight you will always be more prone to becoming overweight again, as…

Nice post, jumblejups! Very informative!

You say your mum had bariatric surgery. I wonder whether it was the fact that your mum underwent surgery, with all the risks and worries that involves, that made you veer off track. It could have been any type of surgery, just a coincidence it was weight related. That being said, you obviously do have motivation because…

Firstly, hello! I have a thyroid problem too and take a lot more thyroxine than you. If there are any facilities nearby, it would be beneficial for you to have your BMR tested. Although some of us do have a lower BMR than average, there are a few on these forums with underactive thyroids who actually have a higher BMR and…

Just start again! Also, ask yourself why you binged. Are you eating enough? When I dropped my calories too low, I found myself uncontrollably eating some days. It hasn't been a problem since I upped them so I am eating enough every day!

They sound similar to Alli. I took Alli for 2 weeks (before I found this site). It caused horrendous, uncontrollable, oily anal leakage, even on a low fat diet. I would recommend you steer well clear, personally! :noway:
-
It gave you that message today because you went over your normal calorie allowance for today. It does not account for the week as a whole.
-
Hi there! I still have over 100 to lose! Started on mfp needing to lose 198! You can do this! :flowerforyou:
-
I have a funny feeling they may be stuck in the mindset that on a "diet" you should be eating next to nothing! Don't let it get to you too much. You have figured out what works for you, and you are now putting it into practice. They will stop saying things when they realise how well it is working!
-
It went up? That would say to me that your goals have changed. :ohwell: ETA: Because your calories were set so low, they wouldn't have gone down. Maybe MFP changed your goals from 2 pounds a week to less weight loss a week? You should aim to lose less a week as you lose weight :flowerforyou:

Do people you know seriously not believe that thyroid issues are real?!! Deary me! I am on 200 mcg at the moment too. Down from 325 recently, due to my weight loss!! I am losing, you can do this too :flowerforyou:

^This!! I had never heard of a raspberry ketone until I joined this site. Or Dr Oz for that matter!! :grumble:

Laughing my formally fatter a%% off!!

This is why I don't buy cheese. Anything else, I can consume in moderation....cheese would be my downfall!! :ohwell:

Fantastic read. Thanks for sharing it!

When I started on here I had 198 pounds of excess weight literally weighing me down. I have lost 78 so far! You can too! :flowerforyou:
-
Yay!! Much prefer the amended version! So much common sense and much more sustainable! :drinker:
-
I feel exactly the same! I think our brains take a while to catch up with our weight loss! A tip that has really helped me is taking a photo every time I lose 7 pounds. Although I don't see the changes day-to-day (or even, month-to-month!) I can look back at the photo when I started and realise I do look different!
-
I don't have cheat days as they don't work for me, personally. However, I don't deny myself either! If that chocolate bar fits into my calories for the day, I am eating it!! I think you are caught in the same cycle most of us have been at some point....I ate 5 chips, I ruined the week, I may as well eat the whole…

I agree with this. Are you eating enough? You sound the way I felt when I dropped my calories too low (accidentally, I didn't realise you were meant to eat back your exercise calories at first).
-
Are you adding your exercise during activity using the activity logs? My Fitbit thinks I am running when I use the stationary bike and adds loads more calories than I burn. Using the timer and then adding the activity into mfp manually then means I have accurate calorie burns
-
Hello!! When I started on mfp I was over 300 pounds! 336 to be precise...:noway: I will never see that number on the scale again. EVER!! You can do this! It's just about making healthier choices, and it's small steps. But those small steps all add up. Best of luck! :flowerforyou:
-
I personally think you should up your calories. With less to lose, you should be aiming for a slower rate of weight loss so should be eating nearer maintenance.
-
Yup, definitely a little crazy! I like you!!

Firstly, anybody who references The Count is golden in my book!! My NSV of the week was one of my friends being astounded I had lost so much weight since I last saw her. This was after she walked. right. past. me!! She didn't recognise me and I have known her for about 15 years!! Your NSV for today...one…

When I started, I had 198 pounds to lose! Still have some way to go, but doing well so far. You can do this! :flowerforyou:
-
I cannot even imagine how you feel right now. And I have no advice, I'm afraid. Just wanted to let you know I'm sending you a cyber hug and hope you feel better with all of the awesome ideas that others will come up with! :flowerforyou:

You need to take 15 to 20% off your TDEE, not your BMR. You should be eating at least your BMR every day.:noway: :flowerforyou:

Hi there! I have severe hypothyroidism so I know what you're going through right now. Presuming your levels are now stable you should be able to start losing weight. It can take a good number of months after beginning medication before the symptoms improve, unfortunately, but you are on your way! I have never followed a…

Hi there! I have autoimmune issues, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I lost the first 40 pounds sitting in a wheelchair with a shattered ankle and unable to do any exercise. :grumble: You don't need to exercise to lose weight. However, if you choose to exercise (for the benefits of mind and body) I would start…
