  • I hear ya! I'm 12 days post surgery and I'm still on liquids....with another 9 days to go. So tired of soup! I can't wait to have some variety again. I don't really have any advice, but I understand your struggle and I'm sure we will both make it through :)
  • Finally went down a pant size! After all these months and all these pounds I had lost I was in the same size for so long. I thought I was going to be trapped in those 28s forever...I must have really been squeezing into them tight when I started! :)
  • Welcome! I'm glad you are feeling well so quickly. I just had my RNY 3/3 so we're starting out pretty close. This group has helped me a lot and I hope you can find great info and support here as well.
  • March is my first month post-surgery so here are my goals! *lose at least 20 pounds total this month *get back to my routine of working out everyday *make it through the liquid and puree stages with my sanity *make my protein goal each day
  • I'm at my one week point post-RNY. I don't know if there is a big difference in pain levels between the RNY and the sleeve, but for me I was able to stop taking the pain meds by my 4th day home. And even in those days it was not really that painful, more like uncomfortable. The biggest thing for me was the fatigue and…
  • Welcome! I just had my RNY 3/3/16. I dont know how long of a pre-surgery program you have, but no matter how long it is I'm guessing it will fly by! And I know what you mean about not being good at logging everything. That's something that I am still working on. Feel free to add me if you're looking for more friends. This…
  • Hi. I had my RNY 3 days ago. I think my pre-surgery diet was an immensely helpful experience. It gave me time to practice this new lifestyle and to make mistakes...and oh man, there were mistakes! I had more time than it seems you do (about 7 months) and I had some months where I didn't lose any weight and even one month…
  • Welcome! I am still pre-surgery but I'm hoping to have RNY about a month or so from now. Its been a long and complicated process and now that I'm nearing the end of the waiting stage it feels like it has gone by so fast!
  • Hello and welcome :) I'm planning on having bypass surgery in about a month or two. This group has been sooooo helpful for tips, advice, and support. You've definitely come to the right place. Please, add me as well if you'd like!
  • I watched a lot of 600lb Life right before I made the decision to look into surgery. That show and a show called Fat Doctor (BBC show I believe), both about weight loss surgery, is where I first really started learning what it was all about. Obviously now that I'm about 6 months into the process I realize those shows…
  • Thanks everyone for the support and the tips! I'm currently in the process of getting a new prescription for the CPAP and will hopefully have one back in the next few weeks. I'll definitely keep in mind all the great links and advice everyone gave :)
  • I'm in a very similar situation! I'm in my last month of the pre-surgery diet and it has been a struggle. I lost well at first, gained one month, and stalled a few months too. I'm also on MA, and my team hasn't indicated that my trouble with the weight loss is going to hinder my approval. For me, I'm glad I'm going through…
  • Congrats on making it through the first week! :) It sounds like you're doing so well. That's an awesome pre-surgery weight loss btw. I'm in my last month of the pre-surgery diet and I'm struggling to get to my doctors goal weight, but getting closer everyday. I really admire the people on here who were able to lose such a…
  • Wow, that's a great idea. I wish I would have tried that! I talked to my nurse, who is going to ask the surgeon if they are going to require me to have the CPAP...I'm assuming they will. I hear such good things about the difference it makes, but I never got that far with it. Maybe if I could have lasted a whole night with…
  • I did. I tried those kind and the full nose mask. Both were uncomfortable. I got to keep the nose mask and tube. I think I liked those better than the nostril pillow thingys. I'm just kicking myself for not trying harder to get used to it.
  • 1. Keep up with working out 5 days a week 2. Log every meal...even the bad ones 3. Get organized for my last semester of grad school 4. Work hard on getting to my surgery goal weight so I can put in for a surgery date
  • Hi! I've just sent you a request as well. I'm looking to have the RNY early next year. I am always looking to add friends.
  • I don't have any advice for you but I feel your pain! I wear a size 13 women's shoe and I can't find sneakers anywhere! I wish I could have a cute colorful sneakers. :( I'm also hoping my feet will shrink after losing weight.
  • Congratulations! That's so exciting!
  • Yay! Congrats and good luck!
  • Welcome! I have about 15 pounds and 3 months to go until I can get a date. Congrats on being so close! You're gonna rock this!
  • Welcome! I'm in the preop stage for RNY and I have about 4 months to go until I can get surgery. I have found this group super helpful and encouraging. Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • ThinGwen, thanks for the book recommendation. I'll look into that one. And I think my challenge is the same as yours...sugar (I have yet to be able to cut it out completely) and psychological. And wow, martabeerich that's quite a plan! Your clinic sounds really strict and I can see how it would get results!
  • Hi Laura. Welcome to the group! I'm in the pre-op stage and I will hopefully be getting the RNY procedure around January. Feel free to friend me
  • I bought a digital scale about a month ago and used it for a few days, but strayed. It is a bit of work to get used to weighing everything. But I'm still pre-op and I want to get into the habit as soon as possible. I know when I was using it I felt much more confident and in control of what I was eating. Like others said,…
  • We are in almost the exact same place. I'm five months out too. And I have a sleep study and psych appointment scheduled for next month. Feel free to friend me if you'd like
  • I am still months out from surgery and I know my family is already supportive and I expect my friends to be too. It makes me so mad and sad to hear stories of people who get hate for making this decision. I think most people who get to the point where they decide to have surgery likely have some kind of unhealthy emotional…
  • Great job! You should be very proud of how far you've come so far. Looks like you've been working hard
  • I recently had my first appointment as well. My insurance requires a 6 month monitored diet. I got a "free" month in because I saw my PCP last month and learned I was prediabetic so we started talking about weight more seriously. So I'm 5 months out from surgery and I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the appointments! I…
