Good stuff!

*bumping* Also... Armi Legge interviewed Norton on a recent episode of Evidence Radio podcast and this was discussed.

This is the best post/success story I have seen on MFP. Major props and congrats!

Feel free to add me. I started to get in shape 2 years ago at 41. It is doable.

Great stuff. Thanks!

What a knowledge bomb you just dropped. I better rethink everything.

"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." - Jesus Just one guy's definition.. Do what you will with it.

While grocery shopping for Thanksgiving supplies, I discovered Gone Nutty Peanut Butter Pop Tarts. I ate the whole box. Success.

Well done!

In. Learning more about squats and fashion. Brad shows us that UA compression shirts DO go with slacks.

Whatever floats your boat. However, tats in general are so ubiquitous at this point, they don't even catch my eye. I am also seeing more and more ads for tat removal. I think this will be a growing market.

I do 20 calories for every set of turkey presses, 10 for pie raises, and 5 for sweet potato curls.

Yep. I have had a difficult time finding jeans that fit. My waist is a bit under 31 inches but most 32 jeans/pants fall off me. Much more than an extra inch, so definitely vanity sizing happening in men's clothing. 31 is a harder size to find and 30's won't work. Getting fit problem in a fat world :)

You are simply not creating a calorie deficit. Log everything. Weigh and measure your food.

I have not read through the thread, so I am probably echoing others. This is a matter of semantics. I, and many others, set their calories using TDEE which already accounts for exercise burn. This just makes more sense FOR ME. It also makes logging easier since I am not trying to figure out calories burned for each workout.

I was doing mostly dumbbell lifting since Jan. of this year. I made progress. However, I am now in my 4th week of 5/3/1 (as directed by SS) and LOVE IT. Moving to 5/3/1 heavy BB lifts has been so enjoyable, and I can see changes in my body already.

I am pretty new to squats and deads, so not moving much weight (ego check) and the form needs work...but I love them.

I was using a program the was mostly dumbbell work from Jan. of this year until about a month ago. I made progress and enjoyed it. The greater range of motion with DBs was really helpful for an old shoulder issue on presses. Since you are a beginner, DBs could really be a great intro to lifting. As others have noted, you…

I have not read through every reply, so it is possible this has been mentioned. But if your pecs are the only muscles under tension while benching, your form is probably way off.

I love that guy.

Epic. I hope this post gets around to all of MFP. Congrats on such bad assery!

This is not my blog but it pretty much sums it up... http://ramblingsofincessantthoughts.blogspot.ca/2013/08/why-do-i-lift.html

Jeremy, your post and story made me want to get out of bed and go do some DLs. Fantastic job, man.

Thanks for the input guys. I am going to check out those sites.

Thanks for posting this. I only made it through the first 7-8 contributors thus far, but it gave me food for thought. Sometimes I miss the forest for the trees. I have a little more fat to lose. Cardio burns fat. Let's do cardio! :noway: I don't do much cardio, but I think my timing of the cardio has not been thought out…
