Hey Lou, I'm a runner. My name is Brian. I've run two marathons, a few half marathons and a bunch of 5 and 10ks over the years. I've also participated in several triathlons, and a lot of mountain bike races. So let's bounce some running ideas around. I used to get injured a lot from over training. Then I read the book "Chi…

Do you have any local running groups or clubs? If so, I would join one. There is always someone who is at the same level and the comradery will help to keep you motivated. Good luck!!!

I don't think that is a weird question. I have a few things for you to think about. 1. Increase your mileage very slowly. If you increase too quickly, you could end up with an overuse injury. So if you are currently running three miles, try to bump that up to 3.5 for a couple weeks and then up to 4. Do do a huge jump in…

Craigslist is a great resource if you know what you want BUT it sounds like you're not sure. You need to go somewhere where you can try out a bunch of different bikes. Depending on where you live, there may be a used or consignment bike shop. OR you could go to a real bike shop just to try some stuff out to get an idea of…

I've run two marathons, it's long hard work getting to where you are able to run the distance but it is totally worth it. There are a lot of beginner marathon training programs on the web. Find one that you can stick with and go for it. Good luck and remember, the actual marathon is a celebration of your training.

I think some people are intimidated when they see a person trying to improve themselves. I think it's a form of jealousy. Stay strong, explain to them that you are trying to make a change in your life for the better and ask them for their support. They may surprise you. Good luck!!!

Not being able to hit your max heart rate is a sign that you may be over trained. You might need some rest. Question: Do you know your resting heart rate? If you are doing heart rate training, it's important to know and track your resting heart rate. Take your heart rate every morning once you wake up while you're still in…
