Get yourself a pair of Westone UM1s. Westone had been in the business of making products to fit the human ear for over 50 years. They also were a pioneer in the Music industry making custom in-ear monitors for musicians. The earpieces are comfy and stay in place. I've used mine running, in the gym, doing yard work and they…

Those compression socks might help.

Good bike shorts and possibly a different seat could be your solution. I have a very narrow seat on my bike and I always wear bike shorts. Sometimes after a long ride I'll be sore but I've never had any trouble during a ride.

Hey I'm a runner, I must admit that I didn't read through all the posts here but I've been running for over 20 years. I've had most injuries that you can get while running. I've run a bunch of half marathons and two marathons. So if you're a runner, friend me up! :)

A hip problem could mean a number of different things. So it's hard to tell but I wouldn't start your run tomorrow if you're still in pain. It may also be your sciatic nerve. Have you tried ice?

I got an Energizer headlamp at Walmart for like $12.00 super cheap and does the trick. Runs on two AAA batteries. Although I must say that the USB rechargeable sounds nice.
-
Rice and beans. Super cheap, plenty of carbs and protein.
-
It's a big step but hey, if it makes you feel better about yourself, go for it.
-
Sweet! Be careful, listen to your body, take it slow but KEEP RUNNING!
-
Run your race. Don't go out too fast and just try to enjoy it. Have fun and good luck!!!

Hey thanks everyone for replying. Hopefully we can all support and help motivate each other to reach our goals.

Legumes have a ton of protein. I'm not a nutrition expert but the way I understand it is like so: Your body responds differently to different foods. Processed foods like bread is a source for carbohydrates but your body turns these carbs, (because they are processed) into sugar more rapidly. So you get a sugar spike…

Some people feel so badly about themselves that they want every person around them to feel badly too. These people are seeing you make positive changes in your life and it makes them feel worse about themselves so they say **** like this to bring you down. Maybe they don't mean to do but I've had people do this to me. I…

You're human, this doesn't mean that the last 8 weeks was all for nothing. A moment of weekness doesn't mean that you're a bad person. Get back on track today, don't try to make up for yesterday. BUT do think about the events that lead up to the binge. What happened? Did something emotional go down? Now think about how a…

My family is also trying to cut back our expenses. We eat steamed rice and beans. It's very filling and has plenty of crabs and protein. We also eat what I call "Power Salads". They consist of Lettuce, Red or Yellow Peppers, 1 can of Navy beans, sunflower seeds, a hard boiled egg and sometimes some grilled chicken. Super…

Do you have stairs in your house? If so, you can do them on the stairs. For example, your feet are on the floor at the base of the stairs, put your hands on the stairs in a pushup position. You'll be at about 45° or so. Do your pushups. As you progress move your hands down the stairs. Before you know it, you'll be doing…

How do they milk those little almonds?

Glad you're having such a positive experience with Crossfit. I like the idea of Crossfit but for me, a person who likes to go on long runs and rides it's not really practical. Just this week I was watching the Crossfit games on TV at Camp Pendelton. As an endurance athlete I was shocked to see the leaders of the…

Have a plan and stick to it. If you've done the training you should do fine. Oh and have fun!

That link is handy. Thanks!

I run outside all year long. I've run when it's was 15° outside. I wear a knit hat, gloves, a long sleeve shirt and a hoody. Sometimes I wear long pants, most times I wear shorts. I usually run a lunch so it's a bit warmer but when I do run at night I use a headlamp. Try it out. I like getting all bundled up to run.…

That sounds like a classic case of runners knee to me. Ice will definitely help. But rest is the best thing for it. Most people say take two weeks off from running and then start up again slowly. A knee brace with the hole in the knee may help too. Good luck!

I'm a few days behind but I'm in!!!

Wow, sounds like you're pretty fit already. I might hold off on the lifting until after the half marathon. I'm a lot like you, I like to do a lot of different things to keep it interesting. I might try to stick with a basic full body lifting routine. Something like: Dead Lift, Squats, Bench Press, Military Press and Pull…

I get the runners high. Changes my attitude for the rest of the day. Love it.
-
Sounds like you're being manipulated, throw them out.

I've got a Garmin Forerunner GPS watch. It's great. BUT before I got this watch I used this website to manually track my runs: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

That's awesome. Big difference. Keep up the good work!!!

50 situps done. That was tough.

200 crunches done.
