You have to be able to go over sometimes and not feel guilty about it. I'm not saying it's ok to be a glutton whenever you want. I am saying you need to have the ability to stay focused on the big picture and the little things will take care of themselves. Nobody is ever going to be perfect 24/7. The sooner you realize…

Eat 280,000 calories below your maintenance level. Divide that 280,000 calories by however "quickly" you want to lose the weight..... Seriously though if you eat just 769 calories below your maintenance each day for a year, the 80 pounds will be gone. I have said maintenance twice, and that's the key. You have to know what…

First of all, you don't have to keep eating to keep your metabolism up. That has been debunked. And yes. Calories are calories, no matter where they come from. Your body will use those calories in any way it is able. That is why you will hear the term "empty calories". Because things like soda don't provide much in the way…

Very well put. So people on these forums insisting that one must eat ABSOLUTELY one way, would be like a diabetic insisting everyone else eat like they had diabetes as well.....
-
Interesting. I thought maybe it was just OCD or something.
-
Omg, really? How come my metabolism will slow down if I skip a meal? And by "skip a meal", how many meals should I be having?
-
Doesn't matter when you eat. This has been debunked and continues to be debated. In the end, whatever helps you get through the day at a calorie deficit is what is going to be successful. I personally enjoy eating at night so I do. Sometimes I eat breakfast, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I have 2 meals a day sometimes I…

Or a couple less big macs?

She will be ok as long as she doesn't drink diet soda all year too....

Maybe your ideal of your idea weight and your body's ideal of it's idea weight are two different things? I don't know if you lift, but maybe try starting a good program like 5x5's and eating close to, or slightly above maintenance and just work on body composition rather than weight. EDIT- I see you do lift. Try eating at…

How much has your body fat % changed?
-
What is your height, weight and age? How did you figure out that you should be eating 1200 calories?
-
I don't log my exercise, but I think you have to use the Weight Lifting that is listed under Cardio in the MFP app
-
You're being too impatient and it's not muscle gain. Wait a few weeks and then check.
-
Doesn't really matter which one you choose. Just pick one, eat as close as possible to that goal consistently, then evaluate after a month or so. If you gained, lower calories. If you lost, evaluate how much and adjust if needed. You just have to figure out what your body needs and (though most people don't want to hear…

Sorry to hijack this thread but anybody lose a cat?

Your scales are probably not accurate. There are several ways to measure body fat % and electrical impedance scales can be one of the least accurate. However.....they can still be used as a tool for measuring progress by just looking for a diminishing number. For example, if my scale says I am 50% body fat, my goal would…

Don't confuse strength gains with muscle gains. Are you eating at a surplus and lifting heavy? Muscle gains are pretty much impossible without eating surplus calories. But you can increase strength while eating at a deficit while maintaining your current muscle.
-
now that makes sense and is very likely. You aren't happy, but are at a healthy weight. Concentrate on what you see in the mirror. Maybe work on body composition and ignore the number on the scale.
-
You can build muscle fast by eating two to three times over your TDEE, so really no need to worry about muscle loss from undereating. Just get that weight off as fast as you can. :smokin:

A few things I read in that article: "Furthermore, starvation diets tend not to give your body enough nutrients. Did you know a potassium deficiency can cause a heart attack? Not something you want to play around with. That being said, if you drop below your calories for a day, you don't have to fear a dead metabolism and…

You're welcome. If you have any questions or doubts, just shoot me a pm.

Mine is a pretty good one. I think it is a Health-O-Meter, but I will have to get it out of the closet to make sure. I don't see it that often.
-
Good point ^^^^^ I forgot to mention that as well. This another good measurement tool besides the scale. But again, I can't stress enough, that until you get your diet consistent you will just be running in circles.
-
The whole "protein within 30 minutes thing" has pretty much been debunked.
-
I don't know your stats, so I couldn't tell you. But I do know you aren't consistently eating the same amount. You're doing a good job of logging now. Keep at it. If you log EVERYTHING, you will be able to look back and KNOW if you are eating too much or too little. The calculator just gives you a good starting point and…

Took a look at your diary and I see a couple of problems. They aren't with food. I don't care what you eat as long as you eat at a deficit and hopefully get enough protein. What I do see is that you haven't been logging very long or at least not consistently. So my first piece of advice is log everything. All the time.…
