  • Thank you, I'll have a look at those links :-)
  • Hope it all goes well for you next week! X
  • Ah congratulations! Hope your plans are coming together well :-)
  • That's fantastic hamstertango- well done! I've been losing 1.5lbs a week on average recently without starving too much as I've upped my activity and am currently 258lbs, and we've 23 weeks to go as we're marrying on August 23rd ... like I said, I won't be skinny but I'll be happier in front of the camera :-)
  • Thanks all :-) I've got plenty to lose so 40lbs won't see my at my overall target but hopefully will be a couple of dress sizes smaller. I'm hoping to feel fitter by then too as I've been swimming regularly for the last 6 months but have also recently started running. 40lbs isn't a fixed thing, but it would be good to get…
  • I have a sedentary (desk) job and chronic illness which limits my activity somewhat. But I find cycling is a great way of getting out in the nice weather even if I'm slower than a tortoise, and I've recently taken up swimming lessons as I thought it was about time I was able to do it. Good exercise and really kind to your…
  • Hi there. I'm just taking swimming lessons as my youngest son is learning and I want to be able to swim with him :-) we're going tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. We also cycle a fair bit as a family, including on the school runs and to swimming lessons etc, so if you want to add me as a friend to share…
  • I'll be happy with 50 as you've got to start somewhere!
  • Hi all, I'm Sarah. I love cycling though am still a beginner really, and I've recently started running too. I'm looking forward to getting back on track again with my cycling as I've been a bit off my game the last couple of months. X
  • Hi all, I had a quiet first week but have just joined so better post it now! I'm aiming for 50 miles this month, which is mostly going to be commuting to school and the gym but it all counts eh? Family ride tomorrow with two of our boys so that'll be a 10 mile ride. But for now here's how I'm doing! Week 1 - 2.2 miles Week…
  • Hi all! Sorry I've been a bit slack at updating my miles :-( a bit of a flare with my ME and Fibro stopped me getting out for a while but I'm hanging on in there! Week 1: Aug 3rd - 8.6 miles Aug 4th - 10.0 miles Aug 5th - 4.7 miles Week 2: No rides :-( Week 3: Aug 18th - 8.2 miles Aug 21st - 0.9 miles Week 4: Aug 23rd -…

  • Another couple of rides today, to and from the gym though I went the long way home :-) August 3rd - 8.6 miles August 4th - 10.0 miles August 5th - 4.7 miles
  • Not a bad start from me this week - well on the way to my 50 mile goal! August 3rd - 8.6 miles (including my hill nemesis which I nearly died at the top of but only after I'd cycled up it!) August 4th - 10.0 miles :-)
  • 50 for me please :-)
  • Hi all :-) I'm Sarah, 33 from Dorset in the UK. I've just recently taken up cycling again (about 6 weeks ago) after not going on a bike for nearly 20 years so it's been a bit of a steep learning curve. I've got about 100lbs to lose and have ME and Fibromyalgia so it's not as easy for me as I'd like, but I'm stubborn and…
  • 1300 sounds a bit low to me. I'm a 254lb woman who is 5ft 5ins tall, and with my activity level set to sedentary (so I track all my activity since my day job is at a desk) I'm given 1870 calories a day. I try to eat under that but even after exercise calories I wouldn't go under 1200 net. Maybe you could try 1600-1700…
  • I'm sorry to hear you sound so down, but you're taking the right steps to lose weight. I also have PCOS which I'm sorry to say doesn't go away with weight loss as you either have it or you don't, but your symptoms will dramatically improve with weight loss which is perhaps what your doctor meant. Years ago I was trying to…
  • I got mine from eBay brand new for under £6.50 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201009298218?var=500214319599&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649) - they're worn instead of underwear (they're inside out in the pic, the padding is on the inside) and I wear cropped joggers or shorts over them. Or if you don't mind…
  • Thanks all :-) It's really great to hear lots of positives as it's such a fun way to exercise! My longest ride so far has been 9.6 miles in about 1hr40 including a few inclines which were like little bumps to Rich and mountains to me! lol!
  • Thanks Janna :-) I average 7.3 mph today which is an improvement on the 5mph a few weeks ago so I definitely feel I'm making progress. I'm less wobbly, more confident, and not as terrified of going fast (ish) or being in the front of the group (sometimes it's me, Rich and two of our boys). I don't have to stop as often and…
  • Just because you don't like the answers doesn't make them wrong.
  • Thank you. We cook most things from scratch for health and cost reasons - we're a family of 6 so it just works out better. I'm surprised how gluten gets into so much but hopefully will be able to avoid it easily enough once I find a pasta and some noodles I like in place of the usual ones. I'm allergic to nuts which means…
  • Hi all, I restarted 4 weeks ago at 270lbs, which at 5ft 5ins is way too much. I have ME and Fibromyalgia which has meant I've been less active over the last two years and have gained weight from a combination of that and bad eating habits. I went part time at work last year and my overall health has improved some as a…
  • Hi all, I'm 33 and have fibromyalgia and ME so am just trying to work out how to exercise without triggering a flare. I have 4 children and work part time so am using my days off for activity. At the moment its mostly walking but I'm looking into aqua aerobics and resistance exercises as other possibilities. I'm currently…
  • Hi there, I thnk your husband is very lucky for more than one reason and I'm glad you're doing so well changing your thinking. In the past I was also all or nothing, boom or bust. Usually worked out I'd lose 7lbs then gain 20 back. When I first went on a diet in 2001 I was just under 12 stone. Nowadays I'm just under 19…
  • Hiya. The NHS have a BMI tracker app for the iPhone which is very useful for adults and children as it takes height and weight into account, as well as distinguishing between the calculations used for adults and children. For children the calculation is a comparison to their peers, so out of 100 children who are 3ft 3ins,…
  • Some great website ideas and some seriously yummy sounding recipes, thank you all so much! X
  • Quite right! I suppose to non-Brits it may seem a bit odd but a stone is as good a measurement as any other! I have 7 of them to lose (otherwise known as 98lbs) so am going to be here a while! Sarah x
  • Hi Angie, I'm at 260 with a heck of a lot to lose and it's all down to food choices with me too. Let's hope we can give each other some support! Sarah x
  • I've only rejoined two days ago and am also keen to get and give some support - it's a lot easier when you're not trying to do it all on your own! So please feel free to add me too. Especailly if you've got a fair bit to lose as I'm going to be here a while :-) Sarah x
