I can do both in the same day, but prefer to leave a significant gap between the two ... that way I'm not totally burnt out by the end of my evening Zumba class.
-
Ugh ... that's disappointing. We all get off track at times, but I'm sure you can do it!
-
Great work, and hope you're having a wonderful day!

I started a couple of weeks ago, but am progressing slowly due to tendinitis in both Achilles. :( Ive never been much of a runner, but am certainly making progress thus far. Feel free to add me, too!
-
Congratulations, and good luck!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's had to repeat a week. Between family, work, and other commitments, the last couple of weeks have been crazy, so this is my third week on week 1. Can't wait for Monday so I can say I've moved on to week two!
-
Oh yeah ... that was one of my initial motivations, too.

Mommy of two boys, 3-1/2 and 5, communications professor, Zumba & yoga instructor, and all-round crazy-busy. I'd love to have more mommy friends, too.
-
To get healthy after some fairly serious health problems To be an active coach for my boys' teams To set a healthy, active, and positive example for my boys To feel better (emotionally and physically)
-
Wow ... what an amazing, fantastic, and inspirational transformation. Keep up the great work!

I'm going to ditto the yoga and walking. Also, classes like Zumba Gold (lower impact, focus on balance, core stability, and range of motion) are excellent.
-
I'll add my goals for the summer, too ... (1) 100 push ups ... I hate planks, so this goal should make doing them a bit easier. (2) Be more accountable, which means logging stuff on MFP consistently, rather than sporadically. (3) Yoga every day, even if only a few sun salutations and some balance work, and more mindfulness…

Good luck. Remember that even small steps are steps in the right direction. Little changes can have a really big positive impact. And remember that the community is always here to help!

We've got some free weights and a couple of kettlebells, but I've been doing the body weight workout from Nerd Fitness (http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/).

Burpees and side planks.
-
I'm going to ditto the good shoes and stretching advice ... I liked 30DS, but the shin splints were wicked until I bought new shoes.
-
Wonderful post ... thanks a bunch!

Hi Jen, I'm a part time Communications professor and mother to two wonderful little men (3-1/2 and 5). My husband works out of town a lot, so between work, my activities, and the kids' stuff, things are fairly busy for us. I have a hard time eating healthy, which is what got me into this boat in the first place, and it's…

Body takes first (gotta love Zumba!) and my yoga mat is a close second. Our kettlebells see a lot of use around here, too.
-
I didn't mind it, but didn't love it. That being said, the previews I've seen for the newest version of it, which I think is either out now or coming soon, are significantly better.

BUMP ... must try this later this week!

I just did mine this weekend. It took a full day, included a one-hour master class, an hour or so on each of the four types of steps that Basic 1 covers (Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, and Reggaton), some practice cueing, and some theory/lecture. We probably spent about 5-1/2 hours practicing out of the 8 hours we were there. As…

Lost weight this week, which was good considering what I`d gained over the weekend! Managed to actually follow my workout plan for the week (even better!) and eat quasi-healthy (considering two sick little boys, husband out of town, a short out-of-town trip, and a wedding, that`s saying something!). Now on to this week ...…

Ugh ... it's been one of *those* weeks, but at least I'm seeing some progress. I managed to gain 5 pounds last week (travel for cousin's wedding, stress, work-related problems, etc. all led to little exercise and too much eating). On the plus side, I've lost all but 0.6 pounds of that, which is a good thing. I've…

Glad to hear she's come through okay. Sending positive thoughts your direction!

I'm with sweetzoejane on all three. I know that the first is *so* difficult, especially the part about not focusing on the scale ;-) Personally, I don't think that there's anything wrong with 4 pounds in 6 weeks ... a loss is a loss, after all. Strength training is really important, too. I've been at a bit of a plateau,…

I agree that it's far easier, at least physically, to stretch than it is to exercise. I often have to force myself to exercise, especially if it's been a bad day. I know that the exercise helps, and that taking off weight will help even more, but it's often hard to force yourself to do something when you know that it's…
