  • I'm 5'6" and I'm at 124 right now. I'm eating 1525 cals a day...but I'm still losing, so I'm trying to figure out how to maintain. I guess I need to up the cals, but I've been so used to the 1500-1525 calorie intake that moving up makes me nervous. I've been sick for the past month with the flu and a cold, so I haven't…
  • Definitely try to run at a slower pace. I run on a treadmill and get really impatient, and start staring at the miles/time. Instead, I found what was best for me was to cover it with a post-it so I can't get impatient. Instead I just run and listen to a few long songs that I know measure up to the specific mileage I'm…
  • I love my MFP friends. Add me. It's nice to see people's progress.
  • I'm not familiar with the 30 day challenge, but I'm doing the 200 squat challenge currently (on week 5). It's a 6 week challenge and I have really seen a lot of improvement in my leg muscles. http://www.twohundredsquatchallenge.com
  • Hi there. I'll add you. I'm trying to tone up, rather than lose an excessive amount of weight.
  • That's a tough predicament you are in. I wouldn't know what advice to give you, although I understand how hard it is to deal with the in-laws and negative responses. We had an issue like that where my FIL and his partner (who has an eating disorder) were rude to us and my family...especially around our eating habits while…
  • At least you'll know how many steps he takes in a day...until he poops it out.
  • I've learned to trust the tape measure and pictures more than the scale. I have been fluctuating around the same number since I started 4 weeks ago, but I like to take pictures every Monday as part of my progress. When I get discouraged by the scale, I look at my pictures and see the visual difference.
  • I love Cauliflower! I use it to make a rice substitute by chopping it up raw, pulsing it in a food processor until it becomes grainy like rice, and then I sautee it with a little olive oil, garlic and salt. You can also puree it with parsnip for a mashed potato substitute. I also like roasted cauliflower steaks too. It's…
  • Baby carrots with hummus or peanut butter (I like the Jif To Go pods).
  • Grilled chicken is always a good option. Salads with olive oil and vinegar on the side (to help you control how much dressing/calories) is also good.
  • Kicked the soda habit. Trying to limit my wine intake
  • I made turkey burgers for our Fourth of July barbeque. I only added some spices and some gluten free bread crumbs, and they didn't fall apart. I tend to make my burgers a little fatter than thinner, so perhaps that helps to prevent them from falling apart.
  • My husband and I have been suspecting that our digital scale was off. This morning I decided to put an unopened bottle of laundry detergent on it, to see what it would say it weighs. I converted that ounces to pounds and discovered the scale was off by 1.3 lbs. You might want to do something like that to check your scale…
  • I'm glad I'm not the only crazy person on here who is trying to lose some weight before gaining more on a 2nd pregnancy.
  • To the original poster: are you on tumblr too? I am following someone with mom issues today as well. Just wondering. Anyways, don't worry. My mom and sister (who have both been heavy) have been brutally honest with me before. I don't think they do it out of spite or hatred, but we're just a really honest family and we say…
  • I was really not motivated. One day I went to buy some shorts and I realized that the shorts that fit me were the largest size I have ever worn. That night, I laid in bed just thinking about how horrible I felt. It was at that point, I decided I can feel bad for myself or do something about it. To keep me motivated, I tend…
  • I have a two and a half year old son. I'm still trying to take off the weight from having him. I used the 30 day shred after I was given the green light to work out when he was a newborn, and it really helped shed a lot of the excess weight. I guess I'm just trying to tone up now. Having an active child is hard, especially…
  • Not to mention all of the GMOs that are pumped into our food. I like to look for non-GMO foods in my market. I will gladly pay more knowing that what I am feeding myself and my kids are not some weird Monstanto science experiment.
  • I added you...because that puppy you're holding was a bonus.
  • My husband works at Herbalife (not a distributor, but an actual job for the corporation). I was actually skeptical about it, and still am. He has their protein shakes every once and awhile when he's at the office, but I bought Vega and Tera's Whey Organic protein shakes for him instead. He has told me that Herbalife does…

  • I'm not a fan of the government telling me what I can and cannot eat (i.e.- Mayor Bloomberg and his soda and sodium crusade), but I do think that adding the calorie count is informational and helps people make a more informed decision. If you still want a burger after seeing all of the calories it may contain, then that is…
  • A pair of jeans I used to wear when I lived in NYC. When I moved to LA, I walked less and gained 20 lbs. I still have the jeans, and I think the best thing to do is for me to print out a picture of me when I used to wear them...so I can get motivated.
  • I am not a fan of water. I will drink it with a lot of lemon to help. I do agree, though, that I have been able to substitute my soda with carbonated water (with lime). I like the La Croix brand which is sold at Target. It even comes in a can, in case you want that "soda feeling." I just want to know where I can buy the…
  • Count me in, folks. Add me.
  • I didn't even know mine was set to private. I changed it. Add me. I've been posting a lot of the food I make on tumblr, but I'm thinking of reviving my old food blog.
  • Hi there, feel free to add me as well. Sweets are my worst enemy. I'm trying to cut them out by letting myself have some pieces of dark chocolate (I usually buy the bag that has the large chips so I can be able to give myself an appropriate amount). Dark chocolate has a lot of great benefits for your health and weight…
  • I have the pooch as well, mostly due to having had a baby 2 years ago and not really doing anything to correct it. I realized recently, that the pooch had turned into a sizable POUCH, and it made me look like I was pregnant again. I have stopped eating products with gluten and noticed the bloat was minimized. I am also…
