My first throught was gall bladder or pancreatits. Go see a doctor now. I had what I think was pancreatitis years ago. I would get these horrible aches under my ribs that seemed to come out of nowhere. They would come in waves (like contractions almost - I could time them) and they were so bad I felt like I was blacking…

Very interesting to see everyone goals! I'm 5'10" and would like to be 145. It is the lowest weight I've been as an adult and was a size 6/8. I'm supposedly small framed based on wrist size and elbow girth, but have wide hips and shoulders. Not sure if I could get skinnier than 145 in a healthy way. I will see when I get…

I would up your calories to maintenance levels for awhile. I find that the closer I get to goal, the slower I have to go. It is frustrating to have to put weight loss on hold, but it is also frustrating to be HUNGRY, but feel bad about eating more. I'd take the pressure off and up your calories by 500 or so for now. To…

I lose eating "carbs" like veggies, fruits, hummus, whole grain bread, dark chocolate. I can sometimes have the white crust pizza or fro-yo, but it might stall me or make me gain water weight for a day. If I have them everyday, especially more than 1, I will not lose, even if is stick my my cals and macros.

Again, agree to disagree. I never said that *you* could not lose weight eating less calories. People do it everyday so no need to pull out food diaries. It is also easier to lose weight when you have more weight to lose. *I* am not you and I cannot lose weight by controlling calories alone. I suspect there are others like…

I think it's water. Point is, I won't lose weight...just play with the same 3 lbs. reducing insulin spikes has been good for my weight loss.

I'm a person who is usually sensitive to topics regarding gender... For example, I hate that there are different rules for women in league softball (mixed gender) and get really annoyed there is a special woman's golf tee. I do, however, believe there are fundamental differences between the genders and we should celebrate…

For me, too many white carbs....such as white bread, pasta, and cookies, will cause me to retain water. I will lose/gain/lose/gain the same 3 lbs over and over. It is maddening. I would suggest, since you are so close to goal, to limit you cals to 1700/day, try to eat your heaviest meal at lunch, or at least make lunch and…

Ok, well thank you for the explanation. Agree to disagree. I don't think it is all about calories. Yes, I think they matter to a certain extent, but are not the be all end all. Macros count, types of food count. Even more so if you have a metabolic issue. If you spike your insulin, you will store fat. Eating twinkies will…

Ok...not sure why you are replying to my post specifically?

It is more than calories in vs. calories out. From reading your posts, I think you've tried that and it hasn't worked. It may work for somet people, but the human metabolism is more complicated than that. I would say that you need to begin to try other things. People have mentioned cutting out the sweets. In reviewing your…

Read Brain over Binge. I thought it was a great book. Read all books on emotional eating and work the steps. I'm in the process of doing this and it helps...tremendously. I'm no expert in changing binging behaviors, as I am early in my "recovery," but I will share with you what is helping me. Looking at your diary, this is…

I do believe that there are hormonal processes that happen at night, so what you eat and when you eat are important to those. I do better when I don't eat carbs at night and eat most of my food earlier in the day.

Bump - how have I missed this? I have been a tea drinker for years...never ever heard of this.

I also do this...haven't used powder yet, but might as I experiment more. I do coffee to protein (premier vanilla shake) in the ratio that I like. I also might do some protein shake, some almond milk. I like Trader Joe's unsweetened vanilla in the dairy case (not the shelf stable). I think there are so many possibilities…

In some parts of the world, people eat things we consider strange. It's ok. You will regain your appetite.

Yeah, just to echo everyone else. I'm 5'10 and if I ate 1220/day, I'd binge too. It is tough enough some days to stick to 1700. I'd try adding in some more calories, particularly as fats and protein, (think salad WITH vinaigrette, cheese, egg, chicken...). If you are eating so little, you wil be prone to binging. Read…

Thank you for your answer. It is nice when someone reads what I wrote. :-) I'm trying 1600-1700 for at least a month. I work out at least 5 days/week now (ramping it up from 3 because I think my injuries are healed enough). If I don't lose, I will talk to my endo about increasing my thyroid meds and/or anything else that…

Thank you for the post...very interesting to read "Monica's" story. I calculated my TDEE and tried the eating that number for a few weeks. I'm maintaining. I've been maintaining for 9-10 months going from 1600 -2100 cals for a few weeks at a time (depending on what I read). I've cleaned up my diet significantly. I've…

Check out all the books from your local library re: emotional eating. Do the exercises that are required. Learn from it. It will not happen overnight, but little changes will begin to happen. "Stop Eating Your Heart Out" "The Beck Diet Solution" "End Emotional Eating" "Coach Yourself Thin" "How To Make Any Diet Work" (I…

It took me a long time to be diagnosed (and I got mono just as I started meds - YAY!), but you can expect playing around with meds, blood tests every few weeks, and maybe gaining a bit more weight before you start to feel "normal" again. I have to take my pill at the same time everyday or else my symptoms return...it's…

Premier nutrition has a good one with lots of protein...they were sold at costco, but not anymore (at least not here in AZ). They still have the shakes though. Check out Amazon? When all else fails, make your own. Find a recipe - taste is much better and you know what is in them!

Do you want "breaded" tenders or just plain? Soak in buttermilk (or 1 cup of milk w/ 1 tsp vinegar) for a few hours. Dip tenders in shredded parmesan cheese or bread crumbs and bake at 400 until brown. 20-25 mins (depends on oven). I flip once during cooking. Sometimes I need to go to 425, since I have a gas oven. If you…

I have never had a diagnosed eating disorder, but have been plagued with disordered eating patterns and ideas about food for as long as I can remember. I'm sorry that you have had these issues. Food is such an everyday thing - and you can never seem to get away from it. I've never purged, but I'm a sugar binger and…

Melatonin, GABA, and Magnesium are all supplements that will help you relax and fall asleep. Also, google resetting your circadian rhythym - lots of good tips and tricks. I like Magnesium the best, an hour or so before bed. I tend to have very vivid dreams, and melatonin and magnesium can make them super intense and a…

A diet of carbs and sugar will make you retain water. I'd try to change what you are eating little by little to more whole foods.

Here are a few recipes for kale and quinoa salads. I'm sure there are more! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/kale-and-quinoa-salad/ http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/pcc/recipes/lemony-garlic-kale-and-quinoa-salad http://articles.latimes.com/2012/dec/15/food/la-fo-sos-kale-quinoa-salad-20121215

I know how it is to gain/lose the same 5 lbs - I've been doing it for like 9 months now. It is frustrating. Just keep refining what you are doing and don't beat yourself up about any small "real life" types of slip ups (Hey, we all go out and have a few drinks every now and then! :-)) Alcohol, deli meats, cheeses, bacon -…

Water retention... Have you had your thyroid checked? When my was out of whack, I would gain 7-10 lbs in a day. Ridiculous. Also, what is your sugar intake like? Do you eat a lot of white bread, pasta, rice, candies, etc? Your body will retain water the higher your blood sugar goes. (There is lots of science behind this,…

I would worry more about just maintaining at this point - I wouldn't try to lose during pregnancy. My focus would be more on whole foods than losing weight. More organic fruits, veggies, meats, etc.
