That is my fear with the hunger directed eating-- that I don't know if I'm meeting my nutritional needs. It's tough.
-
I don't think I'm an emotional eater-- if I'm upset, I actually don't eat. I have zero appetite when I'm worried, upset, stress. I am truly "fat and happy." :) This is all great advice. I do often track my binges, but not always. Maybe I should!

What an inspiration! Do you eat back your exercise calories?
-
Thanks psulemon, I'm going to go with your suggestion of 1800 as I don't know how I would eat 2200+ calories! HA! :) Thanks! I'll let you know the results.
-
psulemon, would you then eat back your exercise calories? I feel like it's a slippery slope since it's tough to estimate a calorie burn. I'm nervous about the switch to 2268 (I think that was the number) since I don't work out every day...
-
So do I eat 1800 and eat back my exercise calories or eat 2268 and not eat them back?
-
Bumping this up. I am trying this method now after eating at 1480 and having a plateau. (I have lost 7 since starting MFP, about 21-23 total b/c my weight fluctuates.) I work out 4 days a week.
-
I just ordered a Polar FT4 based on recommendations from MFP users!
-
Thanks!

It varies. I go to the gym 3-4 days a week. Sometimes elliptical, sometimes zumba, sometimes some other random class.
-
So what do you think I should set my calories at? I do cardio 3-4 times a week, usually 30-60 minutes a pop.
-
I am so confused and honestly am agonizing over this, especially since I'm in a what seems like forever plateau. I have been eating 1480 and not losing. Eating back some/most of my calories. I am 189, 5'7", 33 years old, 39% body fat according to a scale (not sure how accurate that is.) Goal weight is 150. I have reset my…

Is the 1756 the BMR for a 150 pound female of my age then? Activity Level Daily Calories Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1756 Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 2012 Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2268 Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2524 Extremely Active…

And then not eat my exercise calories?
-
So according to Fit2Fat, my goal weight's sedentary calorie intake is 1756. I workout 4 days a week. Should I leave it on 1756 and then eat back my exercise calories?
-
Have you felt that it's helped you with weight loss?
-
If you already have a pedometer though, is there a difference? I just ordered a Polar HRM and would use that for gym workouts.
-
So Fit2Fat says that for my goal weight with a sedentary lifestyle, I should be at 1760. Should I eat 1760 daily and then when I exercise, eat those too? I'm at a plateau at 1480 and wondering if I'm not eating enough (I do eat back my exercise calories, but usually not all.)

A heart rate monitor is only to use when working out, right? While a Fitbit is for an all day perspective on what you're burning? How is it with cardio exercise? I've been looking at a Fitbit off and on but not sure if is worth it.
-
Thanks everyone. I don't have a heartrate monitor or Bodybugg. I do want a Fitbit but I question its accuracy.
-
I do eat back my exercise calories -- not always all of them, but most. I'm set for a 1 pound weight loss per week. My goal weight is around 150 lbs. It's frustrating because I always have lost easily in the past. But I'm older this time around and have had two babies, so things are different now!
-
I'm wondering the same thing about this. For example, I do the elliptical at the gym-- is it better at tracking my calories then the actual elliptical machine is?
-
Wow, what an inspiration! Congratulations!!
