  • Being unable to be weighed at the doctor's office, worrying about every chair I sat on being broken, but the biggest one was my son worrying something bad was going to happen to me because of my weight. I couldn't live with myself if I fell ill because I couldn't put a cheeseburger down.

  • I started by counting calories and eating like I normally did. I then started to realize I needed to substitute items to be able to eat more, as my calories were getting used up very quickly. I started substituting salads for subs, I slowly cut out bread and pasta. I also looked at calorie counting as a game. I looked for…
  • I don't have too much to add here, except stressing taking before pics. I didn't have many and I avoided the camera like the plague. I see a difference in the few photos I have, but more would've been nice. Also, keep at least one article of clothing from where you are now. I kept one piece and I donated my larger clothes.…
  • Just tried my first few today. I had the lemon one, which was hard and terrible. One bite and I was done. I then tried the PB&J which was pretty good. I then tried the strawberry cheesecake. For a protein bar, it was really good. The nutrition in these bars seems to be better than most and the flavor is better than most…
  • I believe it is at first anyway. When I started logging, I know my portions were off because of not measuring or weighing portions. I realized I was fat (still am) due to not understanding or being good at estimating portions. The scale takes that guess-work out of it.
  • Stop thinking about the ultimate goal. Take pride in every pound lost and every good decision. Find your ultimate goal activity or reason for changing yourself. Concentrate on it. Whether it is a vacation, a race, an activity or just feeling better. Find you reason and remember it every time you want to slip up. I was very…
  • I'm a 33 year old single father of a 10 year old son. I started my weight loss in September of 2012. I'm approximately 95 lbs down and have another 80 or so to go.
  • I know I'm going to be unpopular for this answer, but here goes: Stick to your calorie goal minus exercise. Ignore the net goal. Generally, exercise calories are overestimated. If you're eating those calories back, you very well may be eating more calories than your calorie goal. I believe this is what causes so much…
  • I started with almost 200 lbs to lose. As you can see, I'm nearly half way to my goal. With such a lofty goal, make smaller goals and celebrate each (not with food). It helps. I set my first year goal at 83 lbs and my second year goal at 100 lbs. I blew past my first year goal only to get stalled on year two. Consistency…
  • <--- See my pic. 383.4 starting. About 300 in the pic. Stalled at around 295. Refocusing to see my UGW.
  • I've been going through this since my wife's passing in August. Give yourself time to heal, but at the same time, don't give yourself permission to go off the rails. I know it's hard, but you can do this. Use his memory to motivate yourself. Do what's right for you and what he'd want you to do.
  • My 9 year old son told me he worries that something bad is going to happen to me because of my size. I realized I'd been selfish and self serving to that point by not taking care of myself. He deserved better and so did I, so I did something about it. I'm not doing something either. No quitting. No stopping. I will hit my…
  • It doesn't matter. Eat when you want.
  • Remembering that noting will taste as good as being at my goal weight will feel.
  • ^^This. I find it saddening that I can't find PB2 chocolate locally :-(
  • Stop looking at the past. You can't do anything about what's already done. Make a plan and commit to it. If you're motivating others, what's wrong with motivating yourself? You know how. You're no different. Be selfish and do it for you. You got this.
  • Nope. Calories are calories, no matter when you eat them. I rarely eat breakfast.
  • I think it can be dull and hell until it becomes you. When the "old" you breaks out of the old routine, there's a period of adjustment. I'm a different person than who I see in pictures of me from when I started and before. The old me wouldn't have done what the new me is capable of. He was soft, weak and depended on…
  • Welcome to the site. I can relate to your issues with SVT. I know someone who had it and I know how scary it can be. Use the calorie goals, exercise as you can, but remember, even if you can't exercise as long or as hard as you want, 75% of weight loss is a calorie deficit. I wish you nothing but the best. You can do this.
  • 56.8 lbs since January 1st.
  • From my experience: I got to the point I was by eating too much and not exercising. I will get to my goal by eating less and exercising more. It's that simple. The diet industry caters so much to people who want quick results. I've realized I didn't get fat overnight. I'm not going to get to my goal weight overnight…
  • dont_give_up. She's my team captain for the Biggest Loser Challenge. Her brother-in-law passed away unexpectedly recently. She has a ton on her plate. I'd love to give her a hug IRL and know she's getting all the support she needs to support her family and stay on her path to accomplish her goal.
  • I'm in it alone. I've used my son as motivation for what I've done. I have a long way to go, but I'll get there. Like Eric Thomas says, "what's your why?" Find your why and it'll be easier. Realize you can do this and if you want it, you will. If I can do this, you can too. Don't look at the overall you need to lose. Break…
  • Neither. In my area, it's "yous".
  • People do stupid things to lose weight. I prefer doing it right. Slow and steady wins the race.
  • Do it till it becomes habit. Yes, the first week or so will be a pain, but when it's your routine, you'll miss it if you don't do it.
