Could you present some evidence that this the case? If I eat a raw vegetable salad from a fast food restaurant does will my body see the calories differently and refuse to lose fat? Will it help if I ask them to make it slowly?

That's why all those Olympic and professional marathoners are dropping like flies. Not to mention the thousands of amateurs suffering and dying. If you could link to the news reports of that and the scientific evidence of causation or even correlation that would be great. Oh, wait, none of that ever happened. Never mind.

Pro athletes are genetic outliers. Unlikely that your probably average genetics and limited training volume is going to make much difference either way.

If you are not adding weight every workout until failure (including failing form) then you are not doing SL 5x5. You won't get the benefit of the program that way. Add 5 pounds each workout until you fail, then follow the instructions in the program. Failing to do all the reps with good form isn't a bad thing, it's the…

I don't think the blood type diet is designed for weight loss, in addition to being a bunch of unsupported hooey.

Early in the program it might be a better idea to do more sets to practice form at very low weight. As you progress, your feeling that you are not doing much will likely disappear. Doing much more would tend to seriously hinder recovery.

If a calcium deficiency were to cause pain in your shins it would be far too late to correct with diet alone. You likely have shin splints. Rest, stretching, and icing will help. 500 calories a day for more than a day or two is dangerously low. Please eat more. Vegan sources of calcium: Tofu Green leafy vegetables

Everyone wants to make it easy, magical thinking is the result.

What the what? That sounds suspect to me, I'd get a second opinion. Maybe your doctor thinks you can spot reduce? I wouldn't take his or her weight loss advice just because he or she has an MD. Do you lift heavy or do more circuit training? Sounds like you would enjoy the former if you don't already. It doesn't take much…

Sounds like the Air Force suffers from similar ignorance and delusion regarding diet, exercise, and health as the rest of the culture.

I'm a runner, I'll add you.

Save your money. Eat or drink some calories before if it helps your performance.
-
Wow, that I was not expecting. Any evidence for that. Let me guess, you're the proof? Do vitamins level blood sugar and reduce appetite? Any evidence for those claims? Anyone, since paulygi is no longer participating? edited to add: I found some http://www.skepdic.com/placebo.html

Most people don't start looking cut until sub 10% body fat.
-
For baseline fitness it may be fine, but ranking according to timed run or walk for something other than actual running isn't fair. Someone could be naturally large and muscular and quite strong but not be particularly fast.

I recently lost about 20 pounds while reading science fiction novels. OP, if you read SF you can lose weight just like me. I don't have to prove it, I'm the proof. (Or you could eat fewer calories than you burn, you decide.)
-
No. You're eating more calories than you are burning. Please read this link. http://www.acaloriecounter.com/blog/why-am-i-not-losing-weight/

You're being impatient. If you are sure your logging is accurate, then just be patient and give it more time.

That sucks. I'd complain about the lack of choices. Are you in the U.S.? I'd raise a stink here, call local media. In the meantime, apples, carrots, and mushrooms are better than nothing. I wouldn't go there without sneaking out an apple.
-
^^^Agreed. It might be best to focus on maintenance and a healthy lifestyle while you are in school. 10 extra pounds (if they are even extra, I don't know) is much healthier than years of stress and worry. There is nothing wrong with the way you are now.
-
Does the cafeteria serve fresh produce or salad? Can you take some with you? Keep looking for alternatives, there is always a way.

Read this if you haven't yet, OP. (I linked it earlier as well)

Are the nuts jumping in your mouth against your will? Fresh fruits and vegetables are gluten free, eat them instead. Many can be kept unrefridgerated for several days.

Any evidence to support your thought. If not, then we should probably disregard it.

Apply that when it is difficult to measure at school. You are probably just going to have to become a better estimator. Set a more…

There is no such thing as keep it mode http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/ Accurate measuring and logging will do you much more good than buying into myths.
