  • I have to measure stuff, and should eventually get a food scale. I also bought a lot of zip lock/tupperware-like containers that are only one cup, to "make" me stay at portion size. Then I also enjoy large portions of stuff like popcorn, that doesn't have a lot of calories!
  • I "think" its supposed to be 220 minus your age..., but I feel like I'm doing a good job if I'm in the 130s or 140s!
  • Very interesting- thanks for sharing!
  • Yep, I have! Now that I've seen major results though, it makes me want to exercise more (and be able to eat more!) Can you mix up what you're doing for a workout to make it more fun and keep your interest? Good luck!
  • Congrats! Isn't that just the BEST feeling?????
  • Yep, agree with you! It doesn't take into account how much muscle you may have, what your bone structure is, etc....
  • yeah, maybe just put it in as a quarter of a cup. I had a day like that last Sunday- the plainest thing I could find in my house was a plain Schwan's baked pretzel- turned out to be way under my calories for the day..... Hope you're not feeling so blah tomorrow!
  • When I did it, I split it up- it's got 2 minutes of warm up/cool down, so I didn't count that, and since it has 3 min of strength, 2 min of cardio & 1 min of abs in each of the 3 segments, I put it in as 9 min strength, 6 min of aerobics & 3 minutes of calisthenics. Comes out to not a tremendous amount of calories, but I…
  • That is so awesome- congrats on the good work!
  • I kinda do it this way- for most cardio DVDs, I put it down as "aerobics general," or if it has more strength training, I put it down as cardio/strength training, if it has lots of sit ups/push ups, I put it down as calesthenics..... I pretty much break up all my workouts that way so I can really tell what I'm burning,…
  • Feel free to add me! I've lost 35 pounds and am aiming for about 12 more- am pretty nervous about maintaining once I hit my goal, so need all the support I can get!
  • I've had family members, who really do mean the best, tell me they're concerned if I'm overweight, and that they're concerned I'm anorexic if I get to a decent weight. I say ignore the comments and forge ahead with your goal. I'm down 35 and have about 15 to go- I always want to respond to people who tell me I don't need…
  • How much weight are you trying to lose a week on your 1200 calories? I'd think if it's less than 2 pounds and you don't eat everything back, then you'll still be losing a safe amount of weight each week. If you're already aiming to lose 2 pounds a week, try to make up most of the calories- drinking milk is an easy way to…
  • Feel free to add me- I try to comment on my MFP friend's statuses several times a week. Good luck to you!
  • Popcorn, nuts, fruits and veggies are great fillers. It is possible to lose weight without exercising, but eventually your body will get used to the number of calories you're consuming. Hopefully by then you'll be able to walk or do some light exercising. Good luck to you!
  • You crack me up!
  • I LOVE the Wendy's half-size chicken apple pecan salad- I'm not much of a lettuce eater, but the rest of the ingredients disguise it really well. I also don't eat dressing, so it's only about 250 calories for the entire thing.
  • Glass of milk?
  • Can you do crunches and just not go up as far? Otherwise, do a search for standing abs- I think you mentioned Chalene- on her Turbo Jam, she's got an abs workout that's 1/2 standing.... Check out www.collagevideo.com- you can search for what you're lookign for and watch a 2 minute segment of all the DVDs. Good luck!
  • That is so awesome! Good for you!
  • Is there anyone around you who can support you? I usually have a major binge day on Sundays (today was the first Sunday in about 2.5 months that I was under my calories instead of 2000 over....), and it helps if I promise my husband that I'm not going to overeat or if I'm going to get up early to exercise. Good luck to you!
  • I had the same issue, then just redistributed my calories. Since I KNOW I want to eat more at night, I'll have some almonds or fruit for breakfast, a banana and maybe a small cup of soup for lunch, then save my remaining calories for dinner/night. Also, I LOVE that when you exercise, you can eat more, so I work out a ton!
  • Yes, if you're exercising about the same amount and eating the same amount, your body CAN get used to it. Try to shock your metabolism by eating more one day a week (know it sounds crazy, but it can help!) and do different types of exercise. Good luck! (There was a post on here a while ago on zig-zagging calories- do a…
  • Just means your brain is also seeing the positive changes your body is making! I have a "bad" day about once a week, but figure I'm ok if I do well the other 6 days (or I just exercise a lot more!) Good luck!
  • I'm not a runner, but I'm a major exerciser in other areas & I LOVE your screen name! Feel free to add me, and good luck!
  • I have about one "free" day a week- I eat what I like (to a point), but STILL log my calories- you'd be shocked at how fast calories can build up, so if you do have a splurge day, still be sure to log in your calories- then if you're having issues with not losing weight as fast as you want, you can look back at the reports…
  • Great job! Keep it up!
  • Awesome post- thanks!
  • Yes, make sure your activity level on MFP is set to what's appropriate for you, then only log your exercise that's beyond and above what you do at your job/daily activities. If you happen to burn more, then just look at that as a bonus!
  • Great job- that's so awesome!
