5ft 7ins, 53. Starting weight 230lbs currently 160 but still trying to shed a few more round the middle. Still a work in progress.

Hope this works. Nope.

I have always eaten back my calories. I set my profile to sedentary so I had to eat back any exercise calories otherwise I'd be way under my goal. If I didn't I'd always be hungry. As long as you keep to a deficit then you should be losing weight. I started losing about 2lbs per week and gradually decreased to 1/2lb a week…

Hi I'm 53, 5ft 7in, 170lbs but started at 230lbs. Currently doing Power 90 for the third time, although I think it's going to be part of my regular routine for a long time to come, though probably not the full 6 days a week once I'm maintaining. When I started I could barely manage 3 or 4 push ups, now I can do 30, 20 with…

Hi, I am currently on my third round of Power 90. I don't feel I'll ever be ready for the intensity of P90X, but anyway Power 90 has been good for me. Check out my profile and my reply post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/934763-50-plus-before-and-afters

Amazing achievment, well done! I too have ulcerative colitis, have had it for 26 years. How did the weight loss affect your medication? Mine has just increased in the last month because of a flare-up.

Well done!. It's like you've graduated. Be very proud of yourself.

It's never to late to bother. I do wish I had started earlier though! This years holiday is the first without the kids, just when I'm getting fit enough to whup my son at tennis. That would have felt sooo good.

Thats a big difference. You're well on the way to losing the belly after only 12 weeks. Keep it up.

Thanks. There's a lot of posts like this that have inspired me, I'd like to do the same.

Too true. I'm not going to let my diet get in the way of a good time. I'll be disapperaring to the bars around 1pm while the wife soaks up the sun. I'll worry about any weight gain when I get back. If it came off once it'll come off again.

Well done. I know how you feel. I hope to have the same result in June when I fly of on my hols. Just hope I don't binge too much while I'm there!

I'm 53, started this journey September 2012 at 230lbs, currently 175lbs. I am on my second round of Power 90. It was a killer to start with but I just kept at it and now I'm getting through each session stronger than before. I'm looking to start P90X when I've finished this round, but I must admit it looks a bit daunting.…

Well done. All these small steps can add up to huge differences. You don't need luck, keep going the way you have and you'll get there!!

Thanks Helen. I hope you don't mind, but I looked at your profile, being a fellow Brit. I wish you all the best in everything that challenges you. Your attitude to life is also inspirational. Good luck.

Hi, this is my first post. I'm 53 next week, 5'7" and 175lbs. It's great to see so many before and after pics, they keep me going. It's not so easy when you're getting on. The best thing is, once you start making progress you just don't feel so old anymore, never mind life begins at 40 or 50, it begins when you start to…
