I agree that it is a formality. Do what works best for you! On a side note - if you want to accurately track your calorie burn, I highly suggest buying a heart rate monitor (HRM). I have the Polar FT7 and I love it! You can program it with your age, height and weight, and it will accurately measure your heart rate and…

I'm from just outside of Buffalo, NY!

I agree that you don't NEED a gym membership. Or even weights for that matter! I have been working out to the Biggest Loser Workout game on my Kinect. I have the settings set to "No Equipment". I have not used a dumbbell or an exercise ball or an exercise machine and I am down almost 23 lbs and 8 inches just off of my…

OMG - that sounds like Heaven! And I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow, too!

I haven't had any problems sleeping and my numbers are still stable. But I do realize that others may have this issue, so thank you for bringing it up!

Hi! I'm hypothyroid, too - was diagnosed back in 2002 while trying to conceive. I've been on Synthroid ever since. Started out at 50mcg/day, bumped up to 100 mcg/day while I was pregnant with DD, and now I've been maintaining normal levels on 75 mcg/day for the past 8 1/2 years. I've found that the weight will come off as…

^^^This. I very rarely will log cleaning. Everyday cleaning, never. I have logged changing the sheets/flipping the mattresses and a full-on cleaning frenzy (an hour or more of intense, sweaty cleaning) in the past. Although I wish I would have thought to wear my HRM when I moved this summer! All of the calories I must have…

Fostering a child is a great idea! I dated a guy in high school who was one of 9 adopted children, plus his parents had at least 1-3 foster children at any given time.
-
Single parents can most definitely adopt! I think it depends on the agency. My ex's sister-in-law adopted a child from China (at least I think it was China) and was single at the time. The agency she used would only allow her to adopt if she was single and living alone or married. No co-habitation allowed!

That song gets me every time! :) Hang in there! My daughter is only 8, so I have a few years before I have to worry about college. But although she's only 8, I swear she's going on 18! Have a good night!

Thanks, Zilla! I'm definitely looking forward to her coming home today! Her dad & I have been divorced for more than 5 years, but once in a while it just gets to me worse than usual. Keeping busy at work today. I came in uber-early so I can get out by 2, then taking my car for an oil change and I'll probably take a walk…

I'm relatively new myself! Feel free to add me!

Thanks for replying. I'm doing better tonight and I think I'm actually going to find a good "grown-up" movie to watch and curl up on the couch with my cat! I've done my shopping, my workout, and started to clean, but now I think I need some down time. Tomorrow is laundry at my mom's (more visiting, than work!), more…

I'm the same. Rarely will I take a complete day off, unless my schedule absolutely won't allow the time for any type of workout. But I usually will do yoga or take a slower paced walk. One of my friends named it, "Active Rest".
-
I actually ran on the treadmill today when at the gym with a friend (I am so NOT a runner!). Only for a few minutes, then finished my fast-walk! Also, while doing free weights tonight, I watched myself in the mirror and for the first time I could see a very noticable change in my appearance! I actually smiled while looking…

Hi! I've been around the board for a while, but I don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm Becky, 40 years old, and a single-mom by divorce to an amazing 8-year-old girl. My ex left shortly after DD turned 3. She is very active in cheerleading and Girl Scouts. I work full-time, so time management is always a struggle for…

OMG - how is it I've never seen these? Have to go hunting at the grocery store this weekend!

^^^ This! Too many variables, indeed. Last Sunday I did a 48 minute low-intensity Zumba workout on my Kinect and burned 464 calories (via my Polar FT7 heart rate monitor). Wearing a heart rate monitor will give you your most accurate calorie burn! BTW - I'm 40, 5'4" tall & weigh 183 lbs.
-
For me, probably between 135-140. I'm 5'4" and weighed 125 back in college. Looking back at pictures, I looked way too thin, almost sickly. So 135-140 should look good on me. Plus, I'll have more muscle tone than I did back then, so the extra weight will be good for me!

Yum! I think I know what my daughter and I will be baking this weekend!

As many others have said, you truly are an inspiration!!! Sending you a friend request and will also be following your blog! Good luck to you!

I also believe that parenting is the main issue here. Just this February, I finally bought a gaming system for myself and my 8-year-old daughter. We have the XBOX 360 with Kinect. Honestly, we do not own any games that do not use the Kinect system. I didn't want my daughter to just sit in front of the game all day! I limit…

Thank you for posting this.....I love anything with pumpkin!!!

Big boned or not, I really don't think it matters! According to my wrist measurement (6 inches) and height (5'4") I am at the low end of "medium-boned". However, my wrists and ankles have always been quite thin. At my thinnest when I first met my ex-husband, I weighed 125 and did not look healthy. I have always had a…

Sending you a "friend" request! I am a divorced mom to a wonderful 8-year-old girl and I also work full-time. I don't go to the gym, but will do my DVDs or a Kinect workout. While I workout, my daughter is either doing her homework or has her computer time. This way she is occupied and I have my uninterrupted workout time.…

Sounds delicious! I love anything with pumpkin!

Western NY here!

Just turned 40 last February! Still working on getting the weight off, so 41 will be incredible!

I just posted a similar topic! I'm also a single mom - my daughter is 8. I'm sending you a friend request now!
