Love this! I agree that modern farming practices drive farmers to seek and cater to a global market producing singular or limited crops/produce. But there is a growing trend of smaller, niche/gourmet farming that is more geared toward this vision. My partner and I bought a small acreage 4 years ago and grow and rear a lot…

Congrats! I agree with the posts above, attempting to lose weight through pregnancy is not advised, unless medically necessary. So upping you calories to a maintenance level would probably be sensible. But realistically you don't need to increase you calorie intake any more than that until the 2nd- 3rd trimester (again as…

New to Stava and am in process of purchasing a Tomtom Multisport, so will be linking this soon. But I signed up to Strava as it is becoming a common resource for cycle infrastructure planning... so spread the word, log your rides (and runs)- no individual data is sold, but the numbers and times etc are generated into GIS…

I stand corrected there is an external heart rate sensor option with this, as it is recommended for use while cycling- so you keep both hands on handle bars (and watch on the bike mount). Reading up you still have to measure an activity to measure your heart rate, so not sure it would be practical for just daily assessment…

I don't have the answer but am looking at the Tomtom Multisport Cardio GPS myself, so once I get it I will try and find you to let you know how it goes. I have been a polar fan for years, had 3 of my previous HRM (same model 300RSx) and gradually upgraded the tech to include a GPS unit, this model also had an additional…

I would say a meal plan helps. Doesn't have to be fancy or complicated, but then you can organise your groceries and meal prep to match- no waste. Personally I try to chop all veg on grocery day, that way they go in the fridge in containers so I can just throw together any stir fry, slow cooker meals, salads- no excuses.

Hi, I gained weight through Uni and moving abroad. Got back into shape in my 20's, took up triathlons and completed an Olympic distance and a half marathon. Few things have happened since then. Am now 31, have 16mth old and want to lose 8-12kg, get my fitness back and be a good role model for my daughter. Am planning to…

I lost weigh on Depo twice, which my doctor informed me me was "impressive". But piled on weight when had implant, yet they're supposedly the same hormone. I also had bad skin, mood swings and constant bleeding. So I would suggest finding the one that suits you. There are many and many are similar, but they are not all the…

Thank you for this. I am currently looking to replace my Polar (have had 3 of the same model) but want to move away from chest strap HRM and my biggest down fall with my previous HRM/GPS has been strap breaking. Your use sounds very similar to my own and my research had lead me to eithier Tomtom Cardio GPS or Spark, so…

WOW it's definitely interesting reading... though I think you can become obsessed and you still will not find a definitive answer. Ownzone sounds familiar, but I have had my watch since Apr 2011... so has been a while since I've looked at the instructions. Will definitely be interesting to see more responses to this.

When I first decided to take part in our local half marathon, my initial concern was to get the distance. I admit I find it impossible to fit in the training for long sessions all the time, I had built up to 10km, so had about 3 1/2 months out I set myself 3 runs a week. 1x 8km (5miles) per week at a moderate pace- so aim…

Yes I wear one- its law here in Aus, but as a kid (growing up in UK) I never wore one... but nobody else did either. Now I wouldn't dream of not wearing a helmet. My OH says he wouldn't if he didn't have to. But I just don't see the point in taking the risk- must admit I feel less self concious as everyone has to wear one.…

About 2 years ago (before I had my birthday pressy- my beloved Polar RS300x) I read an article written for a tri book by a specialist linked to the USA heart foundation. She claimed that the formula was flawed and the best guide was to run for 30 minutes, then to sprint for 2 mins and take your heart rate- then add 5. This…
