  • This is good to know. I thought I was abnormal. Now I realize that I don't have to worry that I've gained 3 lbs overnight. Lol
  • Glad someone else understands how it feels to be tall trying to lose weight. I am so proud to be in a size 10 again and sometimes even a size 8! I will never be any smaller than an 8 and I am ok with that. I'm not a small person and I love it.
  • Vanilla Soy Milk Salmon brussel sprouts brown rice SWEET POTATOES!!! squash (butternut, yellow, zucchini.. all types) Lol. These are more like foods that I have always liked, but didn't realize I could eat AND lose weight on. Now I eat them every day almost. Lol.
  • Go to goals and set your activity level to "active". This is a job that requires standing and walking. Then your activity from work will automatically be counted into your daily calorie totals. If you change this setting, do not log your work at exercise or you will be counting those calories twice.
  • ha ha ha! "at least until July 4th". That's great. I did really well until yesterday. It was the feast of a thousand soups. I had Pho for brunch and then ramen for dinner and a ton of sides and extras in between. So ridiculous. Back on track today. Good luck to you!! :drinker:
  • It sounds like you're maybe doing so many different things in such a small amount of time, that your body hasn't had time to adjust to anything and it's just confused. 2.2 lbs may not seem like much in 60 days, but it doesn't mean that you weren't doing something right. When I very first joined a gym, I worked out 5 days a…
  • I go for a walk. It's cliche, but it works. Read, write, go window shopping. Do anything that takes your mind off of eating for a while. It takes a while to get there, but you'll do it. :) :)
  • I started the couch to 5k, but only got through the first 2 weeks. Then I just started running on the treadmill and seeing how long I could go. Setting mini goals, like 10 min, 20 min, then 2 miles, 3 miles, etc. Then, once I could do it on the treadmill, I started going outside to try to build up endurance outside. I ran…
  • I'd say get a measuring tape instead. Measure yourself once a month or so to make sure you're getting whatever results you want. The scale will make you neurotic and if you've made it this far without one, then you don't need to start now... that's one girl's opinion. :)
  • I understand where you're coming from. 3 years ago I was overweight, drunk all the time, a pack a day smoker and a fast food junkie. I met my husband around this time and despite being the heaviest I'd ever been in all my life, he fell in love with me. I quite smoking cold turkey. I decided to try to start exercising more.…
  • I totally agree. I left my excuses at the door when I started this journey and I still don't miss them at all. I take life one day at a time when it comes to eating and exercising. I enjoy every day and make the best decisions I can at that time. Over or under here or there, the world goes on and if you let yourself make…
  • Wine sounds fantastic! And here I am about to run my first 5k tomorrow morning. Oh well. At least I got one race in before the end.
  • Am about to get a HRM. This is good to know. Thanks for posting!!
  • That's hilarious and I totally agree. I know that they can feel it, because I am ever conscious of my lower back and when I feel the breeze, I pull the shirt down.
  • Ok. I just went to Las Vegas for my honeymoon, like not even 2 weeks ago. I was there for 1 week. I did not log any food (it was impossible to find things in the database and we were moving too fast the whole week). I said to myself, "I will probably gain at least 2 to 5 pounds this week". It's not that I was choosing…
  • Since I've lost weight, my periods have lightened to sometimes only 1 day. They typically last 3 days and are light. I am on the Nuvaring, so I always have at least a little period, but every now and then, I'll literally only barely spot for one day and then be done. My cramps are even almost nonexistent most months! I…
  • Lol. Love this post. I also keep a picture of myself from my fatter days to keep me on track. My brother in law refers to it as "the picture where you look like someone stole your cheeseburger". It's totally motivational. :)
  • You can't lose 5 lbs in 1 week. It's totally unrealistic and unhealthy to try. Keep your net calories over at least 1200 and keep exercising. You'll lose 1-1.5 lbs a week and that's a great weight loss. Some people can't lose consistently. I know I couldn't. I would get stuck at various weights for weeks and then finally…
  • I know that it's summer now, so this is not quite the best idea, but when I first started logging calories on here, I was big into the crocheting. It gives your hands something to do, you can watch tv while you're doing it and you don't think about eating if you're too busy counting stitches. It really works! It's maybe…
  • I absolutely hate sitting for long periods of time. I work in an office and I try to walk around as much as possible. Some days, it just is hard to do. I am trying to find a job that requires more standing and walking.
  • My gym membership ended on March 1st. I have been able to lose the last pounds to reach my goal weight without a gym. I've started running outside, taking karate classes, learning to juggle, whatever keeps me active. Try something new. If you're walking as much as you say you are, then you shouldn't need a gym. I for one…
  • I know it's not a recipe, but if there's a Trader Joe's near you, they have a canned Vegetable Lentil soup that is heavenly and it's only like 140 calories or something a cup. It's filling and I add it to my lunch to keep me fuller during the afternoon. It's canned, so it's not uber healthy, but it's made from all natural…
  • I have found this to be troubling as well. I usually have gone with 120 calories. As far as protein, fat etc, I have no clue. It's frustrating and if you find a definite answer, let me know. I've checked out the nutrional info on the purdue chicken breasts and it seems to hover around 120-130 per 4 oz of chicken...
  • Another variation: 1 lb of sprouts Trim sprouts, cut in half lengthwise Heat olive oil in a dutch oven or large saucepan throw sprouts in stirring, to coat them with oil. they will pop a little so be careful. add kosher sea salt and a little cracked pepper after a few minutes, the sprouts will start to brown, add about…
  • I was surprised by a LOT of places' nuitritional information. Although, I for one, am glad that more people are looking up these facts and realizing how terribly unhealthy most chain restaurants are. I have never eaten at a Cheesecake Factory, but when I look at their menu, I just see how unhealthy it is. I see nothing…
  • Thanks for adding me! Welcome! Where did you move from?
  • If there's a Trader Joe's near you, they have frozen organic brown rice that comes in packets. You just microwave it for 3 minutes and then there's 2 servings in each packet. I eat mine with salmon, sauteed green beans and a little bit of low sodium soy sauce. And it's only 160 calories per serving. Delicious!
  • Okay. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but pho has a lot of calories. It's not that it's bad for you, it's just the rice noodles are a lot. I LOVE pho. It's pretty much my favorite food ever. About 6 months ago, I was eating it many times a week. I was estimating around 600 calories for the regular and 700 for the…
  • Well done. This sounds fantastic. I also hate cooking for only myself, so it's nice to see a good recipe that takes little time. Thanks for posting!!
