When I first started exercising regularly with my husband, he started seeing results right away, as in 3 weeks or so... the scale didn't budge for me for the first 2 months. I was somewhat frustrated, but I was getting stronger and was able to more easily complete my workouts (I was doing circuit…

I worked music retail for years and no one can tell me you don't work your *kitten* off running back and forth helping people. ESPECIALLY during the holidays when it's nonstop 8-9 hours a day. If you work at least 5-6 shifts a week, I would put your activity level as lightly active. The only catch is, that you have to…

Baby arugula 1/4 cup candied walnuts (trader joe's) either 1 heirloom tomato chopped (when in season) OR 1 peach sliced (again if in season) an ounce of semi hard goat cheese (such as midnight moon) thinly sliced All tossed with Champagne Pear Vignaigrette (also Trader Joe's) and seasoned with kosher salt and fresh ground…

Experience has taught me that those areas are the last to go. I am 4 lbs from my "goal weight" and I have only in the last 2 months seen any difference in my inner thighs. Mind you, I haven't lost any weight the past 2 months. I've been at a steady 159 lbs... but I've been building muscle and the fat is slowly coming off.…

I try to cook from home with the freshest produce and meat I can get. It's not good for you to eat a lot of those processed single serving snack foods. Yeah, I might eat some lite kettle corn as a snack in a desperate attempt to keep myself from eating something worse, but it's still not the best thing for me. Fruit,…

That is EXACTLY what I said on Saturday night. I went out and had some snacks and a couple of drinks at my friend's restaurant and before I knew it, I was buzzed and wanting to eat everything in sight. It's not the only reason, but it's a good reason I don't like to drink. I wish wine wasn't so dang tasty.

So, I just looked at your diary and realized that like others have already said, you're not eating enough. You have to eat at least 1200 calories a day... AFTER exercise. If you eat 1200 calories but then burn 500 running, you have to eat another 500. Because if you don't, you'll only have 700 NET calories for the day. You…

I found it very difficult at first to stay under calories because I wasn't planning ahead. Now, I plan every meal during the work week, with the exception of some dinners (but usually I have a good idea what I will be cooking). With the day already completely mapped out, I can see how many calories I have to work with and…

Are you not logging your exercise? It seems like you aren't. It's hard to tell what might be the issue when you can't really see how much you're actually eating. Are your net calories staying above 1200?

Most chain restaurants have their nutritional info online. Look up ahead of time what you can have or safely fit into your calorie budget. Then, order what you planned to order. I know it's hard once you're there, so try not to even look at the menu. Order what you planned to have and you will be just fine. :)

Did you just cook an egg in the microwave? I feel like that would take longer than just cracking an egg in a pan. I've just never heard of such a thing. Lol

I honestly would not buy a dress that is smaller than what you are now. You are going to become stressed out as the wedding approaches and even though you're on track now, you don't need the added stress of worrying whether or not you'll make your goal weight by May. I just got married in April this year. I bought my dress…

I really enjoyed I, Claudius. Sort of historical fiction. Once you get past the family tree, it's a riveting read. Also, The World According to Garp by John Irving is fantastic, if not a tad brutal. Good luck! Just pick something up and read the first 2 pages. If you want to keep reading, then check it out. That's how I go…

bump Me too! I successfully lost down to within a couple of pounds of my goal weight, maintained it for a couple of months and now can't seem to keep myself from eating those things that I used to pass by without a second thought. I've gained 3-4 lbs in that last 2 months, and I can't seem to get myself back under control.…

It's definitely good for you, but I wouldn't log it. I agree that if you can stretch it out to 10 minutes, then you can definitely add it up for the day. I like to walk around my building once every few hours if I can. It gets my heart rate up and gets me out of the office which I almost always need. :)

Whole grains. Look into lentils, bulgur, cous cous, etc. Then just eat veggies, fruits, dairy (cheese has a fair amount of calories and is delicious), and lean proteins. If you need to add calories but aren't hungry, then I would say protein shakes could help. Or some kind of meal supplement that has vitamins and minerals…

How exciting!! Good luck to you!! Add me if you would like support and any advice! :)

Google canning and preserving. Also, this pasta sauce recipe is easy and to die for. My hubby made it last week for a dish, and I just used up the leftovers last night to make a delicious pasta dish last with eggplant and zucchini thrown in.…

I don't eat it. I didn't realize you could.

I'll take a look. :)

People "bump" things to save the conversation in their "recent forum posts" section on their profile. That way, they can easily find a forum post that they liked later whenever they want. There are so many posts, that it can be impossible to find the same one again.

I really didn't use that gas analogy properly. What I meant to say is that exercising away everything you eat and expecting to be healthy is like expecting your car to run 20 miles after you've run out of gas. It's not possible.
-
Um. It's very unhealthy. You should NET at least 1200 calories. That means, that AFTER exercise, you should have 1200 calories in your body at least. You probably need more because you're exercising. If you put 1 gallon of gas in your car, you can't go any further than that 1 gallon can take you. If you want to go farther…

Not all cheeses are created equal!! I love cheese and it gets a bad rep all the time! It's good for you in moderation and some cheeses are better for you because they are les processed. Do your homework, spend a little extra money and get some GOOD cheese. You'll enjoy it more and your body will thank you.

I didn't think a heart rate monitor would make that much of a difference, but it has been so helpful. I'm pretty sure that I've only been able to maintain my weight because I have it. It makes you feel more confident when you have a more accurate picture of how many calories you're burning. MFP can be pretty accurate, but…

No need to be snarky dude. It is just my opinion after all.

I think that everyone should stop eating at McDonald's. Period.

I love greek yogurt. If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have Trader Joe's brand greek nonfat vanilla yogurt. It is the best. It has vanilla beans in it. O my goodness. so tasty. And it has a lot of protein (13g I believe) which keeps you fuller longer. They're 130 calories. Anything with protein will keep you…

It's most likely just water weight from the fried shrimp. I've had weeks where I've been under every day and exercised and been eating very well, then on a Friday afternoon after work I have a slice of pizza (but stay under calorie goal and exercise) and then on Saturday morning, I'll be up a few pounds on the scale. It's…

Pretty sure I have the same one. Take the strap and snap the little black box thingie to it. Then, wet the mesh parts of the strap (on the inside where it touches your body) with cold water. Then fasten the strap around your chest right under your boobs. Make sure the black box thing is in the middle of your chest. Push…
