Muscle does not weigh more than fat. It's just denser. So when you replace fat with muscle, you may not lose weight, but you will be slimmer and leaner. You will also burn more calories. The best thing to do is to keep measurements as well as track your weight. You might gain a pound or two from just daily fluctuations.…

I have seen it and I think everyone should watch it. I have pretty much given up red meat and most cow products. I buy goat products, milk, cheese, yogurt produced on local dairy farms. It's easier to digest than cow products and I know that I'm not contributing to the torture of those poor animals. I try to buy my veggies…

I use the Nuva Ring. It's great because you can totally forget about it for 3 weeks. Just mark it on your calendar or set a reminder on your phone when it's time to take it out and then put it back in and you're set. :)

This is a fabulous response. Eating to be healthy is different than eating to lose weight. Sometimes we forget that we're supposed to enjoy our food! If you can eat good, healthy foods you enjoy AND lose weight, then how happy will you be when you get to your goal weight and can keep on eating what you've been eating all…

This is what I have been doing, and so far it's worked without me feeling like I'm on a "diet". Like you said, it's a life-style change. I switched from cow to goat dairy products. If you like goat's cheese on your salad, go one step further. Get some goat's milk brie cheese from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Get some…

I hate waking up early. I barely make it to work every day. Up at 5 am? No freakin way, man. :D I work out after work or I go to a karate class during my lunch. See if you can find something nearby that offers a yoga class or something. Also, when it gets warmer, you can always go for a jog during your lunch. I'm not sure…

I definitely would not have been as successful without MFP. I'm glad that it's getting the recognition it deserves. And the more that people hear about it, the more people will use it and they will succeed!! What a positive cycle!

I agree! The Trader Joe's crackers are the best! You can have 22 and it's only 140 calories! And they have fiber. I eat them with an ounce of Trader Joe's Goat's Milk Brie. An ounce is only 90 calories and an ounce of goat's cheese seems like much more than an ounce of cow's hard cheese for some reason. Delicious!

That's hilarious. I remember when mine first started getting too saggy. I was all, "Oh. That feels funny". I never thought about having to buy more underwear. Like, they would just always fit me. I feels really good to finally buy mediums at the Target. Lol. Way to go. :)

Coffee is actually good for you. It has antioxidants. I try to drink a cup a day but usually have about 3-4 cups a week. I drink decaf usually. I went cold turkey and had serious migraines for three days. Would definitely go with half caf and half decaf until you can go completely without. :-) Green tea is also good…

You know, it might seem counterintuitive, but sometimes, when I have a couple of really strict weeks, I'll not move at all on the scale, and then I'll have one day where I'll go over my calories by a couple hundred or so, and the next day, a couple of pounds will drop off. I don't know if it's because my metabolism needs a…

I have it. I don't "love" it, but it's fun and it gets you sweating. I did the 40 minute routine and I thought I was going to die. And I'm in pretty decent shape! Definitely a good workout. Wish there was more music, but you may be able to unlock other songs the more you play. Will have to look into it. The dang song gets…

Mango (always have at least 2 in the house) salmon brown rice green beans bananas pork chops oatmeal apples 8th continent vanilla soy milk I don't eat all of these every day, but I do have each thing more than once a week and some every day. Like bananas. If I run out of bananas, I get pretty upset. Lol

I quit 9-1-08. I have not looked back. It's a great feeling to know you're able to get out of your own way. Good luck on your weight loss journey. I started mine over 2 years ago and am happy now at my goal weight range. It was a long, hard road, and if you need any advice please ask. We're here to help!

I love the Bosu. I wish I could afford one right now. I like to do side crunches on them (the flat part down). Make sure your body is straight and your chest is up, and you'll feel it in your obliques. I also like to do mountain climbers to jump. Put the Bosu round side up. Put your hands on it and run with your feet. Do…

oooh. That's a good one!!

Are you having live musicians and what instruments? I have a duo (classical guitar and violin) and I was thinking something modern for my recessional, but I haven't picked anything specific yet. I'm definitely walking down the aisle to "In My Life" by The Beatles and I can't wait. Good luck with your search and if I come…

http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/fruit.asp http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/coldwater.asp Don't believe everything you read in your email inbox. And don't let this misinformation spread. Tell anyone who asks about this the truth so that people don't believe this garbage. Thanks!

What is the exact recipe for this? By recipe I guess I mean what is the ratio of oats to water? I love oatmeal and I hate having to buy it at work every morning because I can't get up early enough. 2 minutes in the microwave could save me some money for sure. :D Thanks!!

Sometimes if I enter 3 cups of coffee it will say something like 5 calories total. It's really not enough to worry about. Log the cream and sugar. If it's a flavored coffee and/or it tastes sweet without sugar, I would search online to see if there is info. When something tastes sweet, it usually has some calories.
-
Is there a serving size or a "servings per container"? Most nutritional info is per serving on packages. You have to look for the # of servings per pack. If it's 1, then you just had a great snack for 80 calories.

Eating before is good, but I would make sure to eat at least an hour before you work out. Especially if you're new to working out. My trainer recommended veggies, because I would sometimes get queasy if I ate fruit too close to a workout.

The elliptical is great if you're just starting out. The first time I went to the gym and got on that thing, my heart rate was super high. I had to really concentrate on my breathing.... now, I have to work really hard to get my heart rate up. Good luck and have fun!! Start out slow with one of the preprogrammed routines.…

Kashi Very Vanilla oatmeal is SO good and it's only 1.5 min in the microwave. Beat that!

Thanks guys. So the concensus is that low carb sucks. That's helpful. I think I will definitely weigh my options. I don't think I can survive on this diet. It's true that I can support him other ways. I'll just eat low carb with him and eat normally the rest of the time. We only eat together a few times a week anyway. I…

My trainer told me to eat about 2 hours before my workouts with her. She recommended vegetables before and then protein within 15 minutes after the workout. I think veggies because they are the easiest to digest. I had trouble with feeling nauseated sometimes if I ate the wrong thing before my workout. I've been told that…

Some people probably say that because cows are treated with antibiotics and they believe that those same antibiotics can get into the milk and cause us to become immune to medicines that we may need in the future. The more antibiotics we're exposed to, the less effective they become and the more susceptible we are to…

I realized the other day that I never looked up my BMI when I was at my heaviest. Denial much? I entered it in and saw to my horror that I was in fact obese only 2 years ago. Now that I've lost weight and am just barely fitting into the healthy range, I can appreciate that much more all of the hard work I've done. Keep it…

I also have this problem, but I find that I get sooo much more done at home after a good workout. I take the bus to and from work, so all I have to do is get off the bus. That small step is super hard some days. When I'm getting ready to leave work, I just try to give myself a pep talk and set my goal to simply, "get off…
