TBY - I loved your potted history of the M-SR history. Very informative. I'm going to watch that Kelly vid as soon as I have finished making this post. So, Milan - Sanremo challenge entry. http://www.strava.com/activities/123315925 - 129.4km This was a sportive called The Cheshire Cat, sponsored by Wiggle and Kilo To Go.…

Hmm...yes, I had started to wonder myself if the bb shell was off straight. I'll have a good look at the threads before replacing this set and see if I can find something straight enough to test the shell is straight inside. One more go and then I might need to look into a replacement frame.

They're the only aero bars I would entertain on my bike. Very good!

Thanks for the responses. The bracket is a Shimano Hollowtech II. I started with the cheap and cheerful Tiagra that came with the bike and lasted about 4 months before it started clicking. I could have probably sent it back at that stage, but I had a spare Ultegra lying around from a different bike, so rather than lose the…

I looked it up for reference. 5h 37' 20" was the time of Gerald Ciolek last year. It might be quicker this year as they've taken out the biggest climb due to the road having fallen off the mountain.

Thanks for the 'grats. I know these challenges are not all about the distance though, so I'll be making a much bigger effort to capture the add-ons in the Milan-Sanremo. It actually coincides with the Wiggle Cheshire Cat, so the route is a little beyond my control, but you can bet your *kitten* that there'll be pizza and…

My entry: http://www.strava.com/activities/119091946 - 119.4km I actually think it was a bit further than the route shows there, as I was fighting the Garmin all the way through, due to forgetting that I had replaced the back wheel before the ride but not the magnet, so the Garmin showed me as stationary, causing me to…

There are a couple of apps available on Android and iOS compatible with the GoPro (at least 3 if not earlier). It wouldnt help much with the handlebar mount but it would allow you to preview on your phone's screen the image from your helmet mount and adjust as necessary while sat on the bike in your normal position.…

Love the gif...good thinking. Impressive stable. @sydneybeachgirl - how rude of me to help you with your picture and not comment on your bike. Looks like a nice workhorse, perfect for carrying your picnic to the beach.

I think its due to the spaces before/after the URL.

You certainly know your stuff, TBY. Pulled down from the SL4 to replace the standard Pave that comes with the SL3. The bars look so much worse on the picture than when you get down and eyeball it at bar level. I'm almost too embarassed to take it out for an installation lap thinking the bars look like that. However, I cant…

Well...it took some building, but I managed to take an S-Works Roubaix SL3 frameset and a shed-load of cash into this: I was surprised how many tools I needed. I thought a set of allen keys and a screwdriver would do it. I didnt even know what a bearing drift was until a few weeks ago! Its unridden as yet, so the saddle…

I love all those exotic sounding places (to me at least) and then Aberdeen squeezed in the bottom.

CTC might be a better option than British Cycling. They make a big thing about the free legal support that comes with the membership and they are pushing strongly on the whole subject of cycling safety and the reticence of police/courts to do anything to support cyclists. They'd be likely open to offering you some help,…

Thats a great, fun tool. I read an article a couple of days ago that Strava were discontinuing the v1/v2 APIs and releasing a v3 only to companies they could make money from (that last bit could be my spin on it, though I know the list is very limited). I'm surprised and happy that this still works! Looks like I've managed…

Very much its the same as any other exercise. If you can go out and exercise, and know that it has put you in a calorie deficit, then you will lose weight. Depending on your dedication and application, you may not burn as many calories as other forms of exercise, but its one that you can generally maintain over a longer…

I've been trying to figure out, over the last 6 months, if that is me or I'm just scared of trying hard. On the road, I couldnt get above 170, ever, but when I took the work indoors in the last couple of weeks, I found that my vision starts to narrow and I have to scream at myself to take the pain but I still can now get…

brown tape and saddle gives it a vintage look. havent heard of the marque before though

I doubt there'll be enough improvement over the 800 to entice me. I got a bit giddy too and bought the OS map edition, so it still owes me a lot of navigating!

From the many blogs that I have read on the subject, the consensus is that JOGLE is more difficult, as it is against the prevailing wind. That said, I imagine Cornwall can be a bit of a shock to the system, coming at it cold. I'm planning Way of the Roses for the coming spring, as a bit of a warm up.

I was late getting started this year due to working abroad and it was my devout intention not to stop cycling this year just because its a bit cold outside. It is costing a bit though. It started in October, when the clocks went back, that I spent a bit on lights ( I ride unlit roads). Then I got some mud-guards for the…

Mrs Indeterminate & I are planning a tandem discovery day when the weather turns a bit nicer. I feel I need to try one before I consider spending cash, mainly because I'm not in love with the idea of dragging her up every hill to have her scream 'slow down' at the back of my head down the other side. I think it looks like…

Hello everyone, I'm Noel. I've flirted with cycling for the last 10 years but never quite got to the level I was hoping for. After working abroad for a while and eating hotel crap for months on end, I went back on the health kick (cycling and weight loss) from around September. I'm going to push on this time as I want to…

I've probably been a bit meagre with the kudos up to now. Multiple trophies should definitely be worthy, and as many other people have said, if you can drag your *kitten* off the couch and go out into the teeth of the winter weather then fair play to you. click.

When looking back at the track on Endo for some lunchtime strolls, I can see that the elevation maps for my local area are well off. Endo thinks I'm running up and down mountains when I go for a walk around my only moderately hilly route and says I'm burning 400+ kcals for a 35 minute walk. Clearly not right. I think if…

Hello all, Count me in. I was about to set myself a 200km target but I just looked back at Endomondo for November and I'd managed over 550k for that. That was a bit of a surprise! The reality is though that its getting more cold and miserable outside (it cant get any darker, I hardly see daylight as it is) and I have a…
