  • People all over the country are sympathizing with you all. I live in the San Francisco bay area and we have our share of oil spills recently, although ours were not nearly as large as yours. my boyfriend spent days and days catching oiled birds to clean them up, and I am sure people will step up and make sure the damage is…
  • bebbjeb- i think that running/ jogging is great no matter how far or how often. i started jogging about a year ago when I started losing weight, but I have never run more than 2mi. usually I just go to the end of the street and back (about 1.5 mi) in about 20 min, and I am able to go maybe 2x per week. i used to take long…
  • Have you guys seen this article? http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/18/magazine/18exercise-t.html?src=me&ref=homepage it talks about how women get signals from their bodies to eat more when they exercise, and how standing vs sitting could burn hundreds of calories a day. I like the part about how if you are able to get the…
  • I missed weigh in day...149.2 this morning, which is exactly the same as last week. I had my boyfriends bday, so I ate way too many calories but we stayed really active so I think it balanced out. Now that the weather is nice, I am riding my bike to school and my knee is feeling a little better so I will try to run on it…
  • I plan to go for a long bike ride along the shoreline with my bf. we live next to the San Francisco bay and it is sunny and cool- no excuses not to get out and be active. they we are going out to dinner for his bday, so I am going to have to control myself with the delicious indian curries and nan...mmm. I kinda expect…
  • I am all about keeping my metabolism high. To be able to enjoy food and still lose weight seems like a no-brainer. I stopped counting calories last Nov, and kept up my 2x per week jogging, and basically stayed the same weight until now. I feel like my body equilibrated at the new lower weight (I had lost 25 lbs) and as…
  • i think a lot of saggy skin problems after losing weight are genetic. i noticed a bit of skin issues after losing 50 lbs (post partum) and took a break. I maintained my weight for about 6 months (while continuing rock-climbing) and now I am starting up again. i don't have any loose skin now. I think losing weight in stages…
  • Hi all, I would like to join your group as well. I see people on this site with serious amounts to lose just shedding pounds, and I feel like it is a really different thing to slim down when you are already within a 'normal' bmi. I lost 25 pounds here last summer and maintained all winter and now I want to get over this…
  • can you ride your bike at least part of the way to work or take walks during your breaks?
  • I lost no weight as long as I was breastfeeding as well. I don't know if it was my hormones or my intense appetite or what, but even after I stopped breastfeeding the weight didn't come off until I started monitoring my calories and upping my activity level. But the hard work pays off!
  • Do you have much experience using herbal tinctures? my herbalist recommended 'Skullcap' tincture to help with the aches and pains of pregnancy. the plant is in the mint family and totally safe. It is not strong, does not make you drowsy, and basically just takes the edge off. it is available at natural food stores. also, I…
  • Hi! My baby is now 2, and I was able to get off all the baby weight after using mfp, counting calories and upping my exercise. it wasn't easy, but i just worked really hard and lost a pound a week for several months. Now I am back because I want to lose 12 more pounds before my wedding. It wasn't until i made a big effort…
  • I'm back! I got sidetracked with life, but only gained a couple of pounds since Nov. Anyone else still using this group?
  • good for you Marilla! Its supposed to be pretty easy to take a dress in a little when you loose a bit, but it is really important to be happy as you are. I am trying to get reservations at a state park (I live in California), but all the sites were booked up for June 8 hrs after they became available. I wasn't expecting…
  • marilla, oooo, I like your shoulder straps. Everyone, How has the planning been going? Is anyone doing a low-budget affair? I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to get it all done without getting to stressed out! Aa
  • I bought my dress already! Here it is if you want to see... Simple and pretty. no beads or lace for me. I wouldn't even get white if my partner wasn't excited about it. http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WeddingParties/Wedding_Bride/gowns/PRDOVR~72169/72169.jsp Jcrew has some nice dresses and I bought this one when they had a…
  • I am watching this thread too! I have been off track lately. Last week I made a batch of cookies and definitely consumed most of them...so good and so bad! Hopefully that was just a freak out and I can get back into my healthy pattern. I have been active almost every day, so I think that has prevented too much gain. 149…
  • get your mind out of the gutter, goblin...
  • I know people say this all the time, but exercise really helps me with the stress. It didn't really click for me until I figured out how I liked to exercise. For example, battling the baby to stay in the stroller while walking was not the best, but stealing 20 min to go jogging by myself (all by myself was key!)
  • I am getting married next July and I want to lose ten more pounds by April (about a half a pound a week). I have already lost 20+ pounds since last June, but I have been on a plateau for a month or so. I had been loosing pregnancy weight before, but since I am now at my pre-prego weight I feel like I am dealing with a…
  • So...what are you guys doing to exercise today?
  • up a pound, but I feel like I have been getting my eating under control. I had about a two week freak out where I ate a lot of chocolate and ice cream and candy. Hopefully I am past that. I think that I lost motivation because I reached one of my target weights (pre-pregnancy weight). Now that I see how my bad habits are…
  • So, we have a goal to lose 100 lbs collectively. Do we have weigh ins or do we just keep track ourselves?
  • how did you lose 12 pounds in one month?
  • I have done a good job with my exercising lately, but I have been letting in too many sweets. Someone brought homemade cookies to my 3 hr night class/seminar, I overdid desert on my date night, and then I ate white bread and 2 cupcakes at a kids Halloween party this morning. Man, when I eat like this it is so much harder…
  • Today I am planning to go to the rock climbing gym. I think it counts more as strength training than cardio, though at times my heart is racing pretty fast! I will stay a bit after my buddy leaves and use the precor. I am excited today since we are dropping the baby off at grandmas and having date night. I am going to put…
  • My goals: 1. lose 5 lbs by Jan 1st. Loosing during the holidays is going to be really hard for me since I really like food, especially rich festive food 2. Practice moderation. Having one cookie does not kill me, but four makes my stomach hurt. I need to train myself to be satisfied with just a little treat instead of a…
  • I like the idea of a smaller group. Count me in...
