Riding on the sidewalk makes you harder to see by someone making a right turn. It's bad enough drivers too often cut you off on right turns when riding legally on the street whether there's a bike lane or not, but when they don't see you further over illegally riding a sidewalk, I can see it happening a lot more often or…

If I'm on a residential street I say hello to walkers and wave or nod to runners and cyclists. If I'm on a MUT there are just too many people and you can't acknowledge all of them. Most all walkers and runners will return the acknowledgement. A lot of us are regulars and we see each other enough to be passing "friends."…

It seems almost impossible to burn 648 calories walking for 5k even one with an extreme intensity. The Polar sounds a lot closer to being correct. I've found that most devices are inaccurate in their calculations and some to a huge degree.

There's no medical condition that prevents weight loss. There are medical factors that need to be taken into consideration when calculating how much your body needs and how much it uses, but if you provide less energy than the body needs to sustain your weight, you will lose weight. It's really that simple.

Sure it's possible, but few of us have the self-control, body awareness, nutritional knowledge and honesty in the right combination to make it work.

Guess it depends on what you want to believe. You can pretty much find something that says differently: 2- Eating before bed Why is it bad? If you're seeking sweet dreams, avoid eating before bedtime. While no conclusive studies prove that eating before bed leads to weight gain, eating too much food, or eating spicy foods,…

Well magnesium is a natural laxative and if you get too much...well you can figure the result. I guess some sensitive people could have stomach issues from eating a banana. So, in that respect, a banana on an empty stomach could be "bad." A banana only has about 7% of the daily requirement of magnesium, so I think you'd…

Did they give you any reason why or just tell you it's was "bad"?

Sure. 10 lbs in the last 10 days for me. That's 5% of my body weight. Working to slow down the loss as it's too fast, in my opinion.

But neither of the websites cited say that.

The best bike is the bike that fits you best because then you'll want to ride it longer getting in more cardio. At the same speed over the same distance, a heavy mountain bike is more of a workout than a full on racing road bike due to the weight of the bike and it being less aerodynamic. Any bike will give you a good…

How come none of us old people play this game?

Hard to answer without knowing how hard you were working. That's why a heartrate monitor is much better for an accurate figure. It's easy enouh to burn 600 calories in an hour during just about any cardio exercise if the intensity is high enough. I use a heartrate monitor and have found that almost all exercise machines…

Winters mornings are often high 20s to low 30s F here. I get too hot with anything other than shorts so no tights or such, a long sleeve running shirt, a head band that covers my ears and different warmth gloves depending on how cold and the wind. Ears and fingers are what gets me when it's cold.

I never add salt to anything including baked goods. No one's ever complained about my desserts not being sweet enough. What I never paid attention to is how much sodium is added to so many store foods. Now that I'm watching sodium intake and reading nutritional labels, a lot of food I previously was purchasing is getting…

I second the tuna melt! My version adds chopped onion to the tuna and mayo, uses an english muffin and adds a sliced hard boiled egg with the cheese on top.

Train your taste buds to enjoy food and drink without needing to add sweetners to it.

What?! I'm the only one? Three to five times a day. Really.

You might want to stop focusing on weight and think about body reshaping. You've gained muscle which is heavier than fat for the same volume. You've lost inches. Obviously your body is getting smaller. So it's working and you are making progress. Instead of stepping on the scale, look in the mirror or how your clothes are…

Miley Cyrus uses myfitnesspal? Good for her!

Are you sure about the 1 lb? I've seen a similar demostration and that size looks more like an example of how big 5 lbs of fat is.

It's NEVER cheating if you plan for it.

Based on my heartrate monitor calculations, the exercise that burns the most calories per hour at maximum intensity that I can hold for an hour is rowing, next is cycling and then running. Running is last partly because I don't train enough at it to hold the intensity at the same peak that I can rowing or cycling. Rowing…
