"Where's your other half?" I thought they were asking about my wife, but they meant the other half of me that disappeared.

That's an impressive average speed.

[quote="amandaeve;c-45145786My new bike is: crankset Ultegra 50/35; 11-speed 11-34 cassette. [/quote] I think you have a typo. Isn't your chainring combo a 50/34?

It didn't take long to shift smoothly. The principle is the same with a double or a triple. What took longer is to adjust to the new combinations on the double for where I needed to be for cadence. After 15 years on the triple I didn't have to think about it. It was done almost without thinking. I never liked the long…

Sounds like the OP has solved his issues. However, I'll mention something I didn't see in the replies and what has helped cyclists I coach and that's to relax the arms and/or shoulders. Some riders have a tendency to hunch up the shoulders which can lead to the tingling. Locking your elbows can also be an issue. A slight…

I don't think the OP is have mechanical issues with shifting, but having trouble finding the right gearing combination for smooth transitions. I went from riding with a triple for 20 years to a compact double and it took some time to get used to the different ratios available. A triple provided closer ratios which made the…

130' per mile is tough climbing.

It was a good month. Did 1,262 miles with 83,209' of vertical. October will be tough to match that as I'm traveling for 5 days of the month.

Just read this yesterday: Is Diet Soda Actually Bad For You? Here's what the experts have to say about diet soda BY NINA BAHADUR FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH September 6, 2017 Diet soda may seem like a fairly harmless treat. After all, it's low-calorie and not sweetened with sugar! But experts are worried about the chemicals present…

This month I ended up riding 1,039 miles and 54,354' of vertical.

This week has been 6 days of exercise averaging 2hr 57 min/day and 1,558 cal, but it's not been done for weight loss though that is a benefit.

Completed all 5 passes on the Death Ride in 9:50. 125 miles with 15,000' feet of climbing. I had trained hard for it and expected to finish, but was surprised at my time. It was a very good day.

You're doing 24 hour rides or you just don't want to charge it until it has 24 hours of ride time on it? It also depends on what metrics you want to track. The more complex the more often it needs to be charged. A simple distance, speed computer runs off a "coin" battery and lasts for months. My 4 year old Garmin 500 gets…

Endurance athletes in training do, but they replace them as they aren't trying to lose weight. Unless you're in a weight loss television competition show, I doubt many workout that much on a daily basis. 2,000 isn't super hard. I averaged that on a daily basis that over 4 months last summer cycling. However, some days were…

If you're only riding 2.4 miles, you're just beginning. Keep riding and you'll get better at climbing "the" hill and any others. You're already seeing that happening. This is not to belittle the achievement of riding for 2.4 miles and everybody has to start somewhere. It just shows that struggling on hills is normal until…

How interesting! I never thought about logging days in advance, but I don't plan meals ahead other than sometimes dinner, but only a day or two ahead.

Do both.

I hope the OP didn't miss this. In the midst of the comments about sugar consumption, It's likely the most important comment, in my opinion, as to why he plateaued. It doesn't make any difference whether you eat sugar or not, but if you over estimate your exercise calories, as almost all charts and machines computers do,…

One should remember the lower your body weight the greater percentage 20 lbs of fat is of it. It should make a more dramatic difference in body shape losing 20 lbs at 150- than it does at 200+.

For comparison my bike ride burned: HR monitor: 2,360 MFP: 4,133 Other charts: 3,300-3959 I use the HR monitor results.

Everyday should be a eat all you want day, because you should want to eat the right amount to accomplish whatever you want to accomplish...lose fat, get in better shape, be fitter, maintain.

Revise your weight goal and keep on going. You could give yourself a bit of time to enjoy having reached your goal before revising, but you sound like you're quite able to continue with getting the rest of the unneeded fat off the belly. Lifting heavy isn't at all necessary at any age. People do it because they want their…
