kramalicious

  • I love hummus but if you want something more substantial, my recipe for Black bean dip Kramalicious is in the recipe section. I use that at parties. You can always use the leftovers in a tortilla for lunch LOL Hubby and I live on this stuff, and you can adjust it according to your taste and the macros you're trying to…
  • ditto! looks great. I am now planning my goal accomplishment "tat" for my back when I reach my goal. .
  • Hi, I can't say exactly what is the best choice for you, but I got my protein as the whey isolate from a website called The Protein Factory. Check them out, they have all kinds of protein powders, and if you can't find what you want, they'll make it for you . My husband was training for a 100 mile bike ride and found PF on…
  • Saw this on Tosh.0 and it's one of my favorites! I never saw someone use weights like this today!
  • This is the best thread ever! I'd believe the part about trying out the camelbak, but this guy lost points by wearing a button down while running LOL The older lady beside me on the treadmill today was wearing regular street clothes, (not allowed at our Y) but she had topped off her outfit with a pretty, obviously very…
  • Hilarious! I must've missed out on the whole "Exercise in heels" movement. LOL Between this and the Zumba lady in heels and stripper socks, I have enough to amuse myself at the gym for weeks! Thanks everyone!
  • OMG that is funny as h*ll! The only thing that comes to mind for crazy things at the gym is, today when I was doing my cool down laps on the track at my Y, I glanced out the window, and there was a guy in a very brief bathing suit at the outdoor pool-- he was just sunbathing in a lounge chair on his stomach. I don't know…
  • Any suggestions on what to log if you are mainly lifting kettlebells? I am just starting and working on just lifting them,(or walking with them) as well as doing some walks with heavy kbs held in certain ways. I don't feel it as cardio as much as just weight lifting. Thanks for suggestions.
  • I just started working with a nutritionist and she actually raised my carbs from what I had been doing. She works with a hospital and their weight loss program , as well as sports teams. I wanted a nutritionist who had experience fueling people who work out more than 3 x week. . I like the Paleo approach and am trying to…
  • WTF on the deadlifts? I guess they don't want anyone to get hurt (or "fit" LOL). No reason a gym with real personal trainers would not let anyone deadlift. Heck,, it's YOUR routine and it 's a legitimate exercise (even a good one.) These tales of Planet Fitness make me glad I joined my local Y. But even then it took me a…
  • I have been a gym member for a year now. I changed trainers after half a year, and began to get better results and progress. When I first started I did Zumba, but really started to enjoy my membership after I started heavier weight lifting. I added yoga to help my core and now do weights, Zumba and yoga at least twice a…
  • Wow, what a great job you have done! You look wonderful!
  • I think you generally build muscle under the fat first, so I can see pants getting a bit tighter, but I don't think you are going to put on several pounds of muscle. I lost weight, then gained muscle, then gained some weight again but was still smaller due to my weight lifting workouts. Make yourself a chart of your weight…
  • I just started working with a nutritionist and my plan is 40% carbs, and 30% each protein and fat. This is my first day on the plan. I had been eating more protein and less carbs. When I had been on low carb diets in the past, they worked well, for a while. In my case, if I cut carbs to the bone I'll lose 5 lbs quickly,…
  • That's inspiring! What great progress! It's great you are doing it with your family.
  • OMG the preparation of Thanksgiving dinner is quite an event. But, you're kidding yourself if you try to count all that work as exercise. Just plan some modified exercise and take the turkey work as a bonus. Better is for you to just get things going to the point you can leave them, and go on a quick walk, bike ride, etc…
  • I'd practice right away with anything I ended up getting to use, for self defense, even if I had to buy two. Adrenaline will make it hard to think what to do and many people have trouble with fine motor skills when adrenaline is pumping. That's why it's good to have safety numbers on a one dial on your phone so you don't…
  • Clarice..., is that you? LMAO!
  • You look great. Thanks for posting that, and for posting your weight training info. I love weight lifting . What did/do you do for cardio when you did it?
  • Damn, and I was beating myself up because I ate two cookies. That list sounds like a church picnic, to me LOL All my favorites, too, including hummingbird cake! Only thing you can do is not beat yourself up, and get back on the horse tomorrow. You've lost 77 lbs so you are obviously doing it right. One day won't kill you.…
  • I vote for weights and cardio together, but food is a big part of it. You have to find the right balance between eating less to lose and eating enough to fuel your workouts. I am going to a nutritionist who is also a PT to help me find the right balance. It helps to do reading on your own too.
  • Way to go, you are looking good and have come a long way. You are inspiring. Keep up the good work!
  • I am with the others who think it's a bit of a strange remark since it is part of your body weight. But I'll have to say, since I have large ones for my short stature, I do think about how they affect my exercise. I hate to run and will walk fast on the treadmill instead. Also, it does hinder a bit especially with pushups…
  • My goal is to get my hourglass figure back, and lose few dress sizes in the process. Plus, to be lifting heavy in "the boys'" weight room and be able to do pullups and pushups to keep up with the guys in my gym..
  • Here are some ideas for you. Mix up some egg salad with a little mayo, some pickle relish, and a tablespoon of mustard added to chopped boiled eggs ( I grate mine on the largest hole of a box grater, saves time.) I sometimes grate a carrot into the egg salad although my husband protests. then use some raw veggies to dip up…
  • Hells yeah it can. But my husband eats it for lunch lots, bikes 20 miles a day and no problems. The other preservatives in it aren't good either, but if you need to "train " for better eating with a deli turkey sandwich, better than McDonald's cheese burger which I am quite guilty of LOL The only way* I* can do this and…
  • I am trying to drink less soda, and so we drink a combo of green and black iced tea, with a little orange juice mixed in. Both green and black teas have healthy components to them, as does the white, so if you're drinking tea you're helping yourself. Green tea is really popular right now as a topical skin care ingredient…
  • Thanks for the inspiration! You look wonderful, and fit!
  • Oh, a better book, is This is Why you're Fat by Jackie Warner. Rather than placing blame, it gives a scientific outline of what you need to do in order to lose weight. Even if you're not into the exercises (which are excellent BTW) the info in the first several chapters about food and hormones is worth the price of the…
  • I quit tracking for a while, then gained back about 15 lbs and have had to fight hard to lose (most) of it again. It's hard to do anything when you're depressed, so set very small goals for yourself and rejoice in reaching them. Even going for a 10 minute walk will help you. Start with 5 minutes out, then walk the 5…
