  • I don't know if Snopes is a good authority but if you google "water myth" you will find many more. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp Most of the water calculations don't factor in food. Watermelon is 92% water, carrots 87%, yogurt 85%. Nearly all liquids with the exception of high alcohol content contain…
  • I don't believe this. There are scales that are accurate and consistent. If I put a known weight on the scale like a milk jug of water then it will weigh a certain amount. If the scale agrees with the known weight then I know it is accurate at least for that weight. Could it be off at a higher weight? Possibly I'd give you…
  • I'm looking for a beam scale. Like the doctor's office uses. You can zero them and then place a known weight on it. If it's accurate it should be accurate across the range. They start at about $150 (with shipping) on Amazon. I know muscle pound for pound is smaller than fat. I know I can gain muscle and lose fat staying…
  • Are you tracking your food? You mention getting your diet under control but don't mention what your doing for that other than cutting out sweets. Weight loss is 100% diet. You can exercise till you drop but if your eating it all back you won't get weight loss.
  • Sounds like you changed everything at one time. You can still eat healthy foods that your daughter likes. Don't force her into the same restrictions that you have for you. She's a growing kid and needs to eat. Even make something different for her and for you. I know its more work but is it worth keeping her happy? What's…
  • Every digital one I've tried, even the one at my gym that I mostly trust will give 2 different readings back to back. I'm leaning towards a beam style scale like doctor's offices use.
  • Bod pod isn't necessarily accurate. A $40 scale or hand held monitor that does body fat analysis is probably a better investment for people to use to track body fat percentage over time. Getting a bod pod analysis once a week or even once a month would get expensive.
  • I have hated and avoided running my whole life. I realize now it was mostly because I couldn't do it. I couldn't go very far or very fast and it hurt when I tried. I've dropped almost 30 lbs and runnning is a lot easier now. I started on an elliptical and strength training. I started losing weight, I started building up…
  • Weight watchers is a company trying to make money. They push processed and packaged meals because it's so much easier to track your points if it says on the package what they are. They also make money when you buy their meals and snacks.
  • I've made them twice now. They can be a little hard to flip. Cook them slow and use a thin spatula. I use non stick cooking spray. Don't make them big and they are much easier to flip. I like to sprinkle a little stevia and top with strawberry's. They do taste more like crepes than pancakes but I'm good with that because I…
  • WoW! Most impressive.
  • This is the image I was looking for. It puts 100 calories into perspective.
  • It's a banana and 2 eggs. Just put that in and MFP will tell you. I made them yesterday, sprinkled a little stevia and sliced some strawberries on top and I thought they were great. Not to eggy, more banana'y than eggy. You'll definately want to oil or spray the pan first.
  • This was recently posted and i tried it yesterday. Mash a banana, beat in 2 eggs, cook like pancakes. You'll want to oil or spray the pan with no stick first. They turned out pretty good. I sprinkled some stevia and sliced some strawberries on top.
  • Depends on what cake mixes you use.
  • This is a perfect example of how veggies are pushing their ideas thru scare tactics and over generalizations on other people. Not everything in the us is horrendous. Some are free range, organic, hormone free, etc. Just like most other developed country's we do have choices.
  • I'm not sure you want a running shoe, you may want more of a cross trainer for HIIT and for lifting you want more of a minimalist shoe. High Intensity Interval Training isn't necessarily high impact. Nearly any exercise can be done in high intensity intervals.
  • It's 100% diet. Don't give up the exercise but it's what you eat that is going to get you there. The exercise just determines what your going to look like when you get there.
  • It's often said around here that it takes 4 weeks for you to notice a difference, 8 weeks for your friends to notice, and 12 weeks for everybody else.
  • "If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." --John Bingham "I often hear someone say I'm not a real runner. We are all…
  • low fat cottage cheese
  • In some places they are required to have the nutrition information available to you So ask for it. Then do all of MFP a favor and enter it into the data base that way next time you need it or some else looks for it, it will be there.
  • Nothing wrong with eating the same thing as long as you have a balanced diet and your getting everything your body needs. There are some things I eat every single day. Cottage cheese, applesauce, greek yogurt, grapes, carrots.
  • Links to studies that prove the many meal a day thing is a myth- http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18053311 http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract?fromPage=online&aid=873508 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11319656
  • Several studies have been done that prove this is not true. It doesn't matter when or how often you eat meals. What matters in weight loss is eating less than your body burns. The only thing eating many small meals does is keep you from feeling hungry and eating more than you would eat if you had spaced it out. Which helps…
  • Stronger than Yesterday.
  • Bump, I've done 2 5k's but I'm interested in hearing the responses.
  • You can run but you won't get away. I've been trying to make my house child proof since I started having kids but they still get in.
