  • I didn't even check the database. I chose the generic Chinese buffet and the default was 1 servings of 2.5 plates. I figured I had about that much so that's what I logged and I'm still under my goal for the day without exercise calories. I don't plan on this happening very often.
  • http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/fitness/equipment/do-vibration-plates-really-work.html#b I had never heard of this before. When I first read it I was thinking it was one of these.
  • Remember that an HRM is still a guess. It should be a more accurate guess but it's still a guess. Read reviews, do your research. Make sure you buy one that actually calculates calories burned based on your heart rate. It's shocking but some don't. Some don't calculate calories burned either making you do a bunch of math…

  • Log don't log it's your choice, Don't get all upset when you tell people you don't log because your lazy. There's not a lot of tolerance for lazy around here. Changing to a healthy lifestyle is your choice. Most people posting here are looking for help, motivation, and information. You can log as you go without a smart…
  • This picture- That hiking trip with my 3 oldest girls is one of my fondest memories and I love the picture of them with their packs on but I hate my belly. I never thought of myself as fat until then even 6 months before that when my health insurance evaluation told me I was borderline obese based on my BMI. It still took…
  • More is not necessarily better. Twice a day, every day? Your body needs rest into between workouts to repair and recover. If you don't give it time to repair you will end up injuring yourself. There is a difference between soreness and pain. Pain is your bodie's way of telling you that something is wrong. Soreness is just…
  • Start with body weight then progress as needed. A couple dumbbells are cheap. If you can't even afford that then how about some milk jugs with water in them? Infinitely variable how much weight you want in them. As others have said look around the house for things to lift. There is a ton of free workout's online. Youtube…
  • See if you can get some personal recommendations. You want a trainer that motivates you. You want a trainer that creates a work out for you and your goals. To do that he needs to ask lots of questions. It's to much money to spend for a half effort on his part. Your paying them, they need to work for it.
  • Good work. I had the same reaction when I was told I was in the obese category. But I'm headed for normal.
  • How do you know its lower than it says? Different arc trainers and different models can vary in how they calculate calories. They also could vary in accuracy for different people. I don't get why people get so hung up on this. Its an estimate even hrm's only do an estimate. I do love my hrm and that's the number I put in.…
  • You all are weird. Pile and stir, it's all going to the same place.
  • bump
  • Typically using the elliptical as it's designed and pushing/pulling with your arms your burning more calories than walking or even running because your using more muscles. I don't understand the people on the elliptical s not using their arms to push/pull and holding themselves up on the handrails. What's the point of…
  • I'd probably go with what the piece of exercise equipment was estimating. You could get a HRM, I love mine but just remember even that is a guess.
  • You know what's worse than someone capitalizing the first letter of every word? People that write in all caps. What's worse than all caps? People that don't read a thread before replying to it. What's even worse than that ? People who post that they didn't bother to read the thread yet are going to give their opinion…
  • Do some research on the type of whey your buying. There is a reason some of it is more expensive than others. Also check the nutrient information. Lots of ways to get more protein. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, slim fast drinks, fish, lean meats.
  • Well I was supposed to get a nipple pierced when I hit my goal weight but then a trip to Vegas and some peer pressure from friends and some things that happpen in Vegas don't stay in Vegas. So then it was supposed to be motivation to lose enough weight for me to be able to take my shirt off at the beach or the pool so that…
  • One of my MFP friends renamed his meals into time slots and added extra time slots. I haven't done it yet but i like the idea because it would let me see when I'm snacking instead of lumping all my snacks into one entry. You just have to decide what you want your 24 hour period to be. As long as your consistant it doesn't…
  • A 2 lb flux could be anything. You haven't tested this enough to blame carbs.
  • Protein powder but do your research first, some are better than others. Cottage cheese, greek yogurt, fish, especially fish. Edit: The 5oz of fish I had for dinner had 133 cals, 0 carbs, 3 fat, and 26 protein.

  • Don't make a shake. Google "protein powder recipes" and you'll be surprised by the number of things you can put protein powder in.
  • Those were the best replies that you got. You get out of work at 3pm. You haven't said that you can't afford a gym or don't have access to one, you haven't said that you have a medical condition preventing you, you haven't said because you have to go home to take care of children or an elderly relative, you haven't said…
  • Ultimately it's his choice. Try other things. Racketball? Tennis? Bike? Rollerblade? Maybe running isn't his thing.
  • Lunch time means a 30 minute workout. Night workouts are usually about 60 minutes. If all I'm getting in are the lunch workouts I try to go every day. If I get a good night workout in I'll take the next day off.
  • That's getting posted on my wall.
  • Stop being a wuss, Man up, use dumb bells and lift alone. It's hard to tell you what machines to use since we don't know what your gym has.
  • Why can't you bring an insulated lunch box with an ice pack? Granola bars, banana's, grapes, most fruits don't need to be refrigerated. You don't have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. If your specifically looking for protein you could have a protein shake.
  • You get 1220 cals a day. It doesn't matter if you eat 1 meal or 12.
  • Weight loss is completely dependent on diet. Exercising has so many additional benefits other than just burning calories. You can lose weight without exercise but by exercising you are converting fat to muscle. Muscle burns calories all the time. Especially when your exercising and repairing your muscles after exercising…
  • MFP has you set at a calorie deficit to lose weight depending on what you set as your goal in your profile. When you exercise you use more calories and even if you eat your exercise calories your still at a deficit so you will still lose weight. This is a healthy sustainable way to to lose weight be healthy and keep it off…
