I'm 5'6" and was at 150. I started February 17th and am down 20 lbs, so yes, it is very doable as long as you commit to eating right and exercising diligently. Good luck!

This!!! Hard to believe, but if you just move around slightly, like a light warm up to a workout, you will feel much better. It will loosen you up and speed the soreness leaving your body (in my experience). It will hurt at first, but just stick with it for a few minutes and it will get easier. And make sure you stretch…

Not sure I can stop the water completely...I don't think I can, but maybe I can cut back enough to make a little difference. Thanks for the advice!

I understand how you might think it's cheating, and I respect your opinion. However, I have lost 17 lbs, eat like I'm supposed to, exercise every single day and drink a ton of water, so no, I don't really feel like I am cheating.

Doesn't getting old suck? :) Welcome and good luck!

For me, the more I think about foods I shouldn't eat, the more I want them. If the craving is really, really bad, I will go ahead and give in just because I know it's not going to go away. But I try to limit the quantity, eat it slower so that I enjoy it more and get the satisfaction that I need. And then I may go for an…

I love my Fitbit Flex, but the bad thing is that it only counts steps, not any other kind of activity, unless you're swinging your arms while doing it - which you're not doing in a spin class. It also counts calories for normal daily activity, which I think is good but some people may not agree.

Try to keep that long term goal in mind, that's what helps me. And if you have to have that cookie or extra serving, try to add in an extra workout. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Try to go for lower fat/calorie options of your favorite foods, that way you won't feel like you're depriving yourself and it's not too…

I always get wonton soup and sushi. I've found those are the lowest cal chinese options. Veggies are always good, just beware of the sugary sauces they cook them in. And go with white rice instead of fried, if you want rice! The biggest thing to watch out for with chinese food, as with most foods, are the sauces. Good luck!

Is she already on MFP? If not, maybe get her to set up an account, input her goal info. and then since it will tell her how many calories, protein, carbs, etc. she needs in order to reach her goal, maybe that will open her eyes a little??

I just started making tacos with ground turkey instead of beef and they are SOOO yummy!! You really can't tell a difference in the taste. Also, if you want to use sour cream, go for the low fat or fat free. Again, you really can't tell a difference in the taste. And instead of hard shells, try a corn or whole wheat…

Exactly!! You're obviously doing something right, so keep it up!

It's like you are reading my mind! I want this so bad, but until now I just simply was not motivated. I don't know why...it has been really cold here in Pittsburgh as well! Luckily I think I have finally gotten the energy and motivation to get on the right track. I just hope I can stick with it and not be back in this…

Thanks everyone. I guess I need to learn to have some patience! :)

I have used the site before as well and have gotten off track (several times) and am now trying to get back into the swing! Have been tracking for almost a week now and have finally gotten motivated enough to start exercising again. Hoping to stick with it for good this time! I am hoping to lose about 25 lbs.

I have been very happy with my Healthometer digital scale, and not very expensive.
