For the first week or so, I went with "methadone" for the food junkie I was: frozen pre-portioned entrees (grocery store freezer section-whatever is on sale, about 300 cals each), and have one every two to three hours while awake, to regulate your insulin and appetite. Add fresh vegetables and fruit whenever you want. It's…

I'm going to stop reading and go clean my house now. Look what you've done....

Nothing else can really help with a progressively arthritic future. I don't want life to grind to a halt if I can avoid it. I must keep moving to avert long term pain.

People have different filters: some blurt anything out without thinking, others will hold off and hold off until they're sure they won't embarrass anyone. Once I had gained, and a co-worker said wow, you're looking great.

Now I'm curious too. I'm going to look closer at the before and afters on some other thread. I'm sure there's perceptible loss from the nose tip. Subcutaneous fat is located under the skin, so it would stand to reason...

That's HUGE to come off meds because of something you can control! Take it on.

Okay, okay, maybe it's just because I'd rather watch the Grey Cup game and sip on my Gibson's than ski. So sad to see the CFL season end.

I've done the Devon to 50th street landing a few times. Makes for a great day. The evening floats from Ft. Edmonton to rafter's landing are pretty neat too. So surreal to look up and see a big city surrounding you when it feels like you're in the "wilderness". We've been thinking of doing the Genessee to Edmonton…

He knows you as reckless, poor self-esteem and neglectful. It enables him to do the same for himself, perhaps. When one person changes the equation, it can be perceived as a threat. One hurtful comment can either make you pack it in, or it can make your armor stronger, and you more resilient. Go about your journey and get…

Just my luck: off this weekend but now too cold to try skiing.
-
Oh my that didn't sound right, did it? Frickin' hilarious!

Snow Valley Ski Club opened today. Looks like a good temperature weekend to try it out (if I wasn't working - dam!)

Okay I'll risk this post: I have been doing coffee enemas for several years, from once every two weeks, up to twice a week. Started for personal reasons, kept it up because it makes me feel light and evenly energized. I also do it before weighing in so I'm not weighing crap. I have some of my best workouts after one.…

I put more faith in my "average weekly" bar in the graphics section. I can have crazy days because of nightshift work.

I'm 47 and although I've lost and gained most of my life, I find now is easier to focus on myself and get fit. I have less distractions, my life is more stable, I have so much wisdom from past experiences, and can spend more time on myself. I have heard that skin will bounce back, but I don't expect it. A little extra fat…

I would feel disheartened too. What a great way to get rid of the negative feelings by ranting, than by smothering them in food or drowning in pity. I heard you, I read you. I felt it. Very legit feelings, very healthy way to cope. Long time ago, I weighed myself and what it told me did not reflect the effort I had been…

I found these wonderful grippers that go over your shoes/boots and make for great traction on the ice. They're called Get A Grip by Due North, found at Costco for 12.99. They are the ones with little spikes. I've used Yak Trax before but they didn't last long walking on rock chips. I think the posties use the spikey ones.…

Welcome Ryan. Where did you come from? If you are discouraged by starting out during the cold season, just think what you'll look like and be able to do next spring/summer. People won't recognize ya when the bulky outerwear comes off!

Nice work! (such an understatement) Helps me to stay focussed for sure. Thank you for taking the time to share this.

I always say if I were a skier this snow would make me happy. This season I'm committing to trying out Snow Valley at least ONCE. Try a swimming pool. It can take your mind off the cold, if only for a while. We went to the new Terwillegar one (but prefer Bonnie Doon's hot pool and steam room to theirs -ha!)

Ah ha. Thanks for the answer to the 30DS mystery.

Try also MapMyWalk, or MapMyRun, or MapMyRide dot com. You can record your favorite walk/run/ride on maps for others to follow, or just do theirs and rate them. Loads of other stuff too.

Hi I'm new - why does that sound so old? I would also like to know what 30DS is(are?). I've been working with a personal trainer for months, and loving being strong and functional. Now it's time to get lighter and start eating right (yet again) and found MFP. I had great success with Weight Watchers online previously, but…

Not necessarily for dating, but my latest new love is Extreme Pita. The sauces really kick, so I ask for half. I burn about 120 calories just to walk there, and drink 500mls water just to make up for salivating.

I've started reading again when I bought my Sony eReader because I can change the size of the text. Just too resistant to get glasses I suppose. My arms weren't long enough, and I wasn't reading because of it, but that's changed. Also, I can read in bed again thanks to the cover with light I purchased separately with it.…
