South Africa is the same way- I can find a few foods in the database but mostly I have to either add it myself or go with an American brand. When I eat out I tend to overestimate how much I've had just in case. South Africans love butter- they'll sneak it into anything (even peanut butter and jam sandwiches).

Ha, I got my iPad last week & can't think of anything more awesome. Won't be eating much other than broccoli til payday to afford it but I don't regret it. Also, wish I'd thought of my student debt for the unrealistic wish. Someone did anonymously pay off a $700 student loan of mine right after I graduated- I'm still…

Fitness goal- Be able to run a 15K without walking or taking breaks. Material wish- Meh, new clothes I guess. Or money I can put away for Comic Con 2013. I don't really need anything. Unrealistic wish- Having someone I trust offer to take care of my cat while I'm overseas for 5 months (since we're being unrealistic maybe…

Gotta be bikini-ready for a resort weekend in January (middle of summer here). Then I'm headed back to the US for their summer, so I've gotta keep the bikini-readiness. And then by the time I'm back in the southern hemisphere it'll be our spring & summer again. Basically I plan to spend most of 2012 - 2014 in a bikini due…

So it's a 5K on Saturday, a 10K Sunday morning and then just about another 10K after a break? Yeah, that's fine if you can run a 20K. I run 12K trail races nearly every weekend while my friends run the 15 - 20K races. A 5K the day before is part of their training. (Well, maybe not THE day before.) I would try something…

I eat the same thing almost every night- four egg whites scrambled with whatever veg I have on hand- usually broccoli, spinach, or atchar. With salsa if I have it. I don't think I'd eat it in front of anyone (it looks weird & atchar can make it smell strange) but that's been one of my favorite meals for years. Luckily it's…

I've had to take 5 animals to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League in 8 days because people keep abandoning them on our property at work! A pitbull (such a sweetie), a boxer mix, 2 mutts and a pregnant calico cat with green eyes. Wish I could keep them all but my landlord says the cat I adopted from Animal Anti-Cruelty last year…

I usually go to http://www.punchfork.com and switch it to 'vegetarian' or 'vegan' in the drop down option at the top of the page. It's updated daily with the highest rated recipes from all over the internets, so I don't get bored. You can even search for a specific ingredient. Say you bought too many apples & don't know…

Good. I'm glad you're healthy & that you enjoy what you eat. I do as well, though we eat different things. I don't get why so many people think that there's only one way to eat healthily, or why that way always has to be their way. Shrug.

I'm very tolerant, but I find that people expect me not to be. I don't eat meat substitutes (like vegetarian sausage) because I don't like the taste of meat. Athletes in different fields have different ways of meeting nutritional needs. I'm in training for the 2020 Olympics for my sport & I've been a vegetarian for nearly…

Cape Town has tons to see and do, especially if you go up the coast a bit to the Cape of Good Hope & Boulder Beach (where you can swim with penguins). Everything is in bloom October - February. Robben Island is a must-see in CT. Durban is nice- warm year round & relaxed. Addo Elephant Park is nearby (well, kind of- closer…

Where in South Africa do you want to go? It's where I'm living now, but when I moved here I'd never heard anyone say they wanted to visit. I've been all around the US, Ecuador & South Africa. Think I want to live in Thailand, Russia, Australia and New Zealand next. Maybe Kenya.

Every kind of chips Cheese - I'd eat a brick of it Ice cream / candy / sweets - not allowed in my house but I'll have it in moderation elsewhere Rice - I eat ALL the rice. With cheese. Crackers - because then I want cheese & I'll eat the whole sleeve of crackers. Olives - I'll have the whole bottle. With cheese. And…

I take a Hydroxycut tablet on weekday mornings before I cycle 15km up a mountain to work. It's the same caffeine as 2 cups of coffee & since I don't drink coffee it wakes me up enough that I don't want to crawl back into bed. I have clocked substantially faster cycling times since I've been on it (52 - 55 minutes is the…

I wouldn't bring my dog for fear of her being attacked. Are they strays or do they belong to someone in the neighborhood? If they belong to someone, ask them to keep their dogs in the fence (but be prepared for that not to happen). After doing that I call the SPCA/Animal Anti-Cruelty when a dog in my neighborhood gets out…

I was on both at the same time. The Lexapro made me lose weight because it turned me into a zombie- not fun. The Wellbutrin woke me up, let me do regular things & helped a LOT with my depression. It didn't make me lose weight but it didn't make me gain any, either. I preferred the Wellbutrin XL. ALSO (for some of the other…

Got my first gray hair in 1st grade- I was 7 years old. I'm 25 now with dark brown hair & plenty of gray. My hairstylist would love to dye it but I mostly own it. Some days I sit and pick them all out, though.

Licensed social worker. But I'm currently volunteering overseas not doing social work.

I don't mind walkers but I prefer it when they start at the back & are easy to pass. Runners are generally to the right, walkers on the left. You'll be able to observe the flow pretty easily. And please be considerate at water stations- walkers in groups can easily overwhelm the station & runners get out of their groove…

'You won't always be at this weight. It's up to you to decide whether the scale goes up or down. Keep going & eventually you'll start losing & be healthier again.' Those are the exact words I think to myself. It helps when I've hit a plateau & feel like all this work isn't paying off. I also give myself this little pep…

I feel a bit like a hipster saying "I had an eating disorder before the internet," but it's true. I started at 6. I didn't see my first "pro-ED" site until I was 18 & I found the address in Time Magazine. I could do a google image search for "thin" or "model" and come up with as many "thinspo" pics as you would find on an…

I use 0 calorie cooking spray (okay, it really has like 4 calories, I know) but I don't log it. And when I make popcorn I use less than a tbsp of sunflower oil but I don't log it. I make popcorn maybe twice a month & use the cooking spray for everything else so I don't think it's a big deal. If I used more than 2 tbsp a…

We don't have Halloween here- all the Christmas stuff is out in the shops already. :noway: But my friend is having a dress up birthday party in October where everyone goes as a rockstar from the past 50 years. I'm going as Fergie from the movie Nine. Gotta get my arms ready for a corset.

I did one as a team & I'm sure that's how it's intended to be done, but I would do one on my own. You can go around the obstacles that you can't do on your own. Or- everyone is there to have a good time- if you get to an obstacle & there's another group there you can pitch in & help them get through/over it & they'll help…

You are burning a LOT of calories- over 4000 in one day I saw. Wow. So my guess is that you're adding muscle as you're losing fat. Muscle weighs more. I'm not quite sure how you managed to burn 4000 & eat under 2000 that day, but you're the expert on your life, not me. I couldn't do that.

Sedentary & then log the exercises. If the MFP calories burned don't match up to what your heart rate calculator says you can just use quick add calories burned.

Weekdays: Breakfast- 8 a.m. Lunch- 12:30 - 1 p.m. Dinner- 5 - 6 p.m. On weekends I'm rarely awake early enough for breakfast to matter & I snack all day (on healthy stuff of course) instead of having regular mealtimes. But my weekday schedule is set in stone because my bosses are a tad neurotic about "wasting time on…

I injured my knee badly playing sports in college. After my knee surgery my athletic trainer had me do quad strengthening exercises every day for 15 minutes. It was painful & boring but after about 6 months I could run again with no trouble. There are tons of quad strengthening exercises online. I use them when I've fallen…
