  • Hi- for any guys out there- is this a good magazine? What are the pros and cons? I have a really great offer that I was thinking of getting for DH, but not sure...I'll probably end up buying a single issue to see if he likes it first. Thanks!
  • I've recently read " Biggest Loser Success Secrets" It was a good book- I found it very motivating and while it did not give out diet information ( like calorie counts ,etc) it was more of the psychological standpoint. I liked it- I'm BIG on motivation and inspiration, so i was happy with my purchase. Also recently read…
  • I agree- the more you deprive yourself, the more you want...I could never cut it out- I eat whole wheat/double fiber bread and whole wheat pasta- also discovered Ronsoni Smart pasta- no enriched flour- so I think its better.
  • Aw crap. Is it that time of year again!? I love supporting them, but cannot handle the cookies...I'd rather just hand over a check.
  • Just under a year ago, my mom was hospitalized for some heart issues- while going over her eating patterns the three docs that were working with her were horrified to hear she ate frozen meals- Weight Watchers, Lean Cuisine, and Healthy Choice at least once a day. They told her absolutely no more- many of the patients in…

  • Forgive me if this has been posted before- Is there a website or some kind of online 'plan' for beginning runners? I read about one a looong time ago where you walk for a certain amt of time and run for a certain amount of time, increasing the running each time- any ideas? Thanks!
  • I dont know a thing about the F6, but I am a technology/gaget IDIOT and I easily figured out my F4...I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The only thing I wish it did have was an alarming voice to tell me " PUT THAT CHEESECAKE DOWN "
  • Never heard of XS, but the ROCKSTARS I drink are sugar free, no carbs and have LOADS of vitamin B6 and B12 in them, now that I think about it. Maybe I'll look for XS- thanks!
  • While I've got hundreds of reasons to be healthy, I often times will focus more on losing weight than I do overall health...kinda counter productive sometimes. So in order to motivate myself to simply do the healthy steps, I've come up with a reward plan of points- for every healthy activity/action I take I earn points.…
  • Great answers!! Thanks everyone!!!
  • Here are some tips I've put on my website that sometimes make it easier... Being that I am NOT a doctor, a nutritionist or anyone who claims to know anything. I've found these hints to make drinking water easier and well, enjoyable for myself and I've heard tips similar to these from various weight loss groups, articles,…

  • I play a 'game' on the elliptical to try to bun 10 calories or more a mintue- in the beginning its tough, but I like to challenge myself as much as possible to try to beat my previous times.
  • :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: No No No!!! Its not a failure!!! Dont be hard on yourself, b/c then youa re being hard on me too   ..I am in the EXACT same position...I did it yesterday though...completely blew myself out of the water. Man I was disgusted, but you know…
  • My DH met through Yahoo! Personals... Dh definitely needs to watch his eating and excercise more, but he's not into it. He'll get motivated for about 10 minutes and then get tired of it instantly or something...whatever. It annoys me, because he eats constantly and eats bad foods and his health is suffering, I fear.
  • What a great thread! 1. I'm grateful for my heath- that I've abused my body and I am still here! 2. I'm grateful for my job- in this economy, I'm very lucky to be where I am 3. I'm grateful for my family- the annoyances, the issues, the stress... 4. I'm grateful for another chance to being healthier 5. I'm grateful for my…
  • I went over my calories and fat and sugar today, ...it wasnt by a lot ( about 100 cals) still not great, but I realized even by going over, I still managed to eat better and eat less than I was eating a couple of weeks ago..there wasnt a bowl of candy in my lap, or a bag of chips next to me, no real sodas, no gallons of…
  • I looked into body bugg briefly a long while back and if i recall correctly it was about $300.. Ihave a Polar F4 and i absolutely LOVE it. I've been at the gym and never had the problem of it interfering with other monitors, but honestly it could for all I know. I am somewhat 'technology retarded' with gadgets and things…
  • I had to get the oil changed in my car today- I do it at the dealership where i bought it since its free...I decided since I had to wait anyway, I may as well take advantage of the free time and the vast space...I speed walked around the dealership- its a huge one, so there were plenty of long lines of cars. I was so proud…
  • My favorite is the sparkling waters from grocery stores- I think most majorones have them, i know Wal Mart carries them near the bottled water...zero carbs, zero cal, zero sugar, zero sodium...there are lots of flavors and its good!
  • I really cant add much more than the others have already posted, but I think you are awesome for even coming on here asking for help- that in itself is a huge step in realizing a problem and wanting better for yoursef. I'm glad you are here and asked that question/posted the problem- I know there are others on here who…
  • This is often where I struggle too-- usually I have left over calories, but am already maxed out on fat, carbs, sodium, sugar, whatever...so i usually leave them.
  • I'm not from SF, but somewhat nearby in the same state- I've been going there since I was a kid....the mountains ( The Sierras- is that what you were talking about?) are roughly 4 hours away- past Sacramento, so no real way to get there from the City in an hour unless maybe you fly into? There are some nice areas around…
  • I havent read all the responses yet, but that's what I do too...I cook myself something great and yummy and he can eat whatever frozen garbage he has. As for not keeping junk in the house, what if you were to ask him to keep it out of sight? Once in a great while I'll make some random healthy dish and that's dinner for…
  • I forgot to add...There ARE NO stupid questions here!
  • I've always gone by the guideline that if it has no calories, caffine, sodium or fat, then its a thumbs up for water. I once heard that the ONLY criteria was 'no caffine'...but then that includes milk? C/F soda? I cant trust myself with that!! I'd stretch it too much.
  • Diet rite is great!!! My only complaint is that it seems to lose carbonation much quicker than other sodas.
  • I go to a recipe site www.allrecipes.com all the time and somewhat alter some recipes, using lower fat/calorie/sugar alternatives-whatever I can think of....low/non fat cheeses, low fat beef, fat free refried beans, sugar free chocolate, splenda, etc...there are so many awesome recipes out there that can be altered a bit…
  • WOW.....now I'm really really impressed with that...I dont know that I could have done that. GOOD FOR YOU!!! I'm glad you came here. That'skind of why I'm here too...there are these stupid freaking powdered doughnuts that I'm about to freak out on...
