this may be a little off topic, but what is it about excess sodium that hurts weight loss? Water retention? It has no calories, which is the main focus of weight loss. I'm not arguing that high sodium is irrelevant, I'm just wondering how it is detrimental to weight loss.

My inspiration is from my brother. He is totally ripped and a type 1 diabetic. I figure if he can do it, so can I. We always work out together and we have an awesome time. He's my best friend. Also the workouts help me with depression which I has been a life long struggle for me.

I have about 3 whey protein shakes a day, but not as meal replacement. I use them to meet my protein requirements for the day (around 200 grams).
