  • Awesome! Congrats!
  • Got this recipe from the Shape website. I made it last night and it was AWESOME! Greek Style Quinoa Ingredients 1 cup quinoa 2 cups water 3 tbsp. olive oil ¾ cup fresh lemon juice 1 tsp. dried oregano 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed in a garlic press ¼ cup kalamata olives 1 bunch scallions, chopped 1 pint grape tomatoes,…
  • JUST found this topic and it fits me perfectly! I have recently started trying to run for distance, and right now I am at 3 miles with 1 minute walk breaks inbetween every 10 minute intervals. (34 minutes total) How long did it take you guys to get past 4 or 5 miles? It seems so far off for me.
  • When I make quinoa it always ends up really mushy - is that how its supposed to be? Anyways, there was a quinoa recipe in this month's Shape magazine. I made it last night and it was AWESOME. I don't have it with me right now, but I'll post it up when I have it.
  • My boyfriend used to sell advocare and SWEARS by it. Not only did it help him get in great shape, it also made him LOTS of money. He has recently tried to get me to start selling it, but I've never tried it before. What program are you on? Did you buy it from a friend or family member? I'm interested to know - I'm trying…
  • I can't say that I relate, but I'm very sorry. I wish I had some advice for you. Maybe someday you'll find a family in a husband or a friend that will be supportive of you always. Good luck. Merry (almost) Christmas :)
  • Right, suck it up when its dangerous. I'm not mad because I want to leave early..I'm mad that the reason I CAN'T leave early is because I haven't accrued time. If I had the time, I could leave. When your safety is in question, I don't think it should matter whether or not you have holiday time accrued. Also, I was just…
  • I'm wearing asics right now, but they are still hurting my feet. Does anyone have a good suggestion for orthotics? I think I pronate...and I tend to hit the insides of my ankles together...I can tell where the shoes have rubbed together.
  • It doesn't go to my house :( For Houston being such a HUGE city, the public transportation system is horrible. No rail system at all, except for downtown. The busses do a park-and-ride system, but even that is pretty far from where I live.
  • You're right - it IS high in calories. I meant soda water (oops). I looked up tonic water and it said 10 calories per serving...but it was only a 1 oz. serving! My bad. They do make diet tonic water but like you said..I don't think they serve it at bars. SO as a correction to what I said earlier...SODA WATER! Thanks for…
  • I wasn't sure if it was called that nation-wide, haha. Side note...Its snowing in Texas right now. Houston, Texas to be exact...humidity capital of the US. It MAY snow once a year here...and that is asking a lot. This means that when I drive home tonight it will be chaos since Texans don't know how to drive in the snow,…
  • I REALLY like the morningstar farms spicy black bean burgers. I warm them up with a reduced fat slice of cheese, spread a tablespoon of light thousand island on, and put it between two pieces of toasted wheat bread. Delicious and filling. If you have the room to add a few extra calories, put the burger between two slices…
  • I have drinks on the weekends as well, but I cut it down enough to where I rarely have hangovers. Of course, I graduated college and settled down a little bit, which helped as well. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about REALLY cutting down calories with drinks besides cutting down the number of drinks all…
  • When I do stregnth training, I skip the cardio for that day, or do it earlier in the day. I would say its okay to do cardio when you're doing an upper body workout but if you're doing a somewhat intense lower body workout, skip the cardio. Just do an easy 10 minute warmup on the bike or walk on the treadmill.
  • 34at35 talking about skiing.
  • You're making me so jealous!!!!!
  • all of the juice recipes I use was included with the juicer. My boyfriend usually makes them, but next time I think of a good one, I'll let you know. Mint is really good in almost everything. We made a juice with beets and it tasted like dirt.
  • gooooooood luck. its a very helpful site.
  • I truly admire you. Congrats
  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm bump
  • you think..."what muscle is that? i didnt know i had that!"
  • I want to tell you something that I've learned in the few short years I've been in the "workforce".... Your employer is NOT committed to you, therefore you should NOT be committed to them. In the long run, they are going to do what is best for them, whether it be raises or layoffs. They will act in the best interest of the…
  • Oops, I meant carrots, APPLES, and mint.
  • My favorite juice in the juicer so far is : Carrots Celery Mint Sounds gross, but its very good. Added some sparkling water to it last night and it made it even better.
  • I've never had quinoa but I really like the idea of that breakfast recipe - I'll have to try it.
  • bump :drinker:
  • IPOD, IPOD, IPOD! I would tell every runner to invest in an MP3 player. I THINK that is common knowledge, but I'm not sure. Turn on some good workout music, and I'm good to go. Only problem is that sometimes I wear out my playlist and have to make a new one.
  • I'm the EXACT same way. I like the treadmill because I can keep a pace up. I start running too fast outside. The concrete tends to hurt my knees worse that the treadmill does as well. But, since running outside is a challenge and there is a view, that is what I'm working towards. I live in Houston, though, and you hear so…
  • EVERYONE TRY THE SALSA CHICKEN! It was SO good...I just served it over rice, but you could serve it with black beans or shred it for tacos. In case you missed the recipe: 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 can of healthy choice cream of mushroom soup 1 cup of salsa 1 packet of low sodium taco seasoning Put the…
