  • That's what I got out of it! If you do it that way though, then you shouldn't log in your exercise cals, because then those cals will be added on top of your calorie goal. Your calorie goal or TDEE-15% takes into account your activity level.
  • I hear ya! I am, well, was, the queen for switching up things constantly because I was afraid of wasting time on something that wouldn't work! But I agree with everyone else, and that you should be patient. I always thought 1200 was the way to go, but now my very very least amount is 1365, but usually eat around 1500. I'm…
  • Wow, interesting. I feel I "eat more to weigh less" but only around 1400-1600, I can't imagine going any higher. Sometimes, I feel hassled to eat more too, but most of the time I just forget it because I feel I shouldn't eat if I'm not hungry, right? It's so interesting that you actually lost weight the next day! I can't…
  • Yes, so basically I have it set at 1365, and if it was a rest day or I was feeling lazy (usually on the weekends) I aim for that. But during the week, yes, I increase the calories depending on how much I work out. In general, if I work out at all, I aim for around 1500, but my net calories allow for 1600/1700ish (I burn…
  • Yes, thank you!
  • I'm 5'3'', currently 119 but aiming for 110. I used to eat 1200 (what MFP recommended) but now eat at least 1365 (my BMR), but usually closer to 1500, especially on days I work out more. I've heard both supporting and opposing arguments about the whole "starvation mode" issue, but realized that you just have to figure out…
  • Moxie, does your fiance still smoke? My boyfriend smokes, and though it's sometimes hard, especially in social situations to see him smoke and here I am, smokeless, what really bugs me is (in the past) when I'd ask to bum one, he'd say "No. It'll be alright, I know you can do it" as he stands there smoking. And I get SO…
  • So yesterday was one week for me. Since I wasn't much of a heavy smoker to begin with (only 3-5 a day), I didn't think there would be that much of a physical difference. But boy was I wrong. Not sure if it's just all mental, but here's the deal: So I've been working my way up to be able to jog (maybe one day, run) this 4.2…
  • Holy moly, that's incredible.
  • Oh my gosh, I was going to say the same thing before you said it yourself: one day at a time! I was choosing to go on walks/runs when I had an urge, and similar to you, it didn't really work (though it is now, but during the first few days, heck no). But when I sucked those few moments of absolute hell up, I felt…
  • Wow, didn't expect so many replies! :D So I've also been curious about BMR. Mine's 1365. I've heard you shouldn't eat lower than that. Earlier this year, I actually did a couple of months of tracking weight watchers points, but also added up calories out of curiosity and found I usually ate around 1450-1600 cals! That's…
