Taunts and mockery again? How did "Ask Jeeves" even come into the discussion? Actually, I DO know how to properly research a subject--but I fear my efforts would be wasted on the sugar advocates.
-
I did not have time to do a proper researching of the subject and grabbed a simple explanation. I'm sure YOU have never done anything like that?
-
If you knew anything at all about bio-chemistry, you would know that it was true. Mockery does not become you.
-
Actually, I'm going to do a research project to test the theory that consuming sugary foods not only impairs brain function but also contributes to highly aggressive behavior. Good night, kids.

Not at all true. The body is quite capable of doing without the consumption of added sugar as is the brain. The brain can operate on ketone bodies. We have LOTS of fail safes--otherwise, the human race would likely have become extinct a long time ago.

It is a manner of speaking meaning, " *shrug* It's your life--do with it what you will." Why the anger? Are you afraid that I am going to send the "Sugar Police" after you? And why bring Canada into the discussion? Honestly, sometimes I think that eating sugar must wreck brain cells or something.

These are REAL medical researchers who are well regarded in their fields. Dr. Johnson is Chief of the Renal Division at the medical center at the University of Colorado. He has been given an NIH grant to study the epidemic of renal disease and failure in sugar cane workers in Central America. What he and his team expect to…

Are real medical researchers enough for you? With real M.D. degrees and Ph.D.s? http://www.foodaddictionsummit.org/presenters-johnson.htm You are welcome.

"All foods have some calories. No food is actually "negative calorie" food. BUT the overall effect of certain foods in our body is that of "negative calories". Negative calorie foods are foods, which use more calories to digest than the calories the foods actually contain! Calories from these foods are much harder for the…

Well, you can laugh at it if you want to but you are laughing out of ignorance. You have never heard of "net calories" being lower because of the fiber in the food? I have seen threads discussing that very thing. Grapefruit (the reason why it is a "dieter's friend") is unusual in that regard. You can check the web further…

No--it's that we know so much more about the bio-chemistry of excess blood sugar and its affect on a host of metabolic problems including, obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes, metabolic syndrome, renal disease. Overeating in general will cause high blood sugar levels. But the fastest and easiest…

I will assume that was an "oh-so-clever" attempt at an insult. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081121183003AAwA6YT
-
Negative NET calories that is--but I was perhaps wrongly assuming that would be understood from what I said. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081121183003AAwA6YT

Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081121183003AAwA6YT I should have said "negative net calories" but I was assuming that anyone but a knucklehead would understand that that was what I was talking about based on my explanation.

It is still a free country, last time I checked.
-
I did NOT say that. Obviously, ANY food will contribute to blood sugar (or I would have long since expired).

We exist in a sea of bacteria and viruses. What allows us to get sick is an immune system that is not up to the task of defending us or getting overwhelmed by a particular bacteria or virus that the immune system has few resources to fight. Cold viruses are EVERYWHERE--winter and summer.
-
How very coarse of you to bring that into the discussion.
-
I need to correct a misapprehension that you have. My problem was not one of "gorging on sugar" as much as it was that ANY sugar turned out to be harmful to me because of arthritis-caused lack of activity and the actual bio-chemistry of utilizing simple sugars. I really CANNOT afford ANY nutrient-poor foods and refined…

Um--I SAID high blood glucose is converted into triglycerides and then stuffed into fat cells. I can add that ANYTHING that causes high blood glucose would have that effect--but it is easier and faster to produce high blood glucose with sugary foods than any other type of food because fiber slows down the absorption of…

That interjection added exactly zero to the conversation.
-
Yes--it is a generalization but one that reflects reality for a great many people. I did NOT say that sugar gets automatically stored as fat. Read it again.
-
^^^THIS^^^ Ever wonder why everyone gets sick at the holidays after gorging on sweet treats? High blood glucose is an enemy to us in a great many ways--and the FASTEST way to raise it to an unacceptably high level is to eat a lot of sugar and sit or lay around. When you do that, you force your body to react to the danger…

Apparently, the economic impact of the diseases related to excessive sugar consumption is starting to raise some eyebrows in Switzerland: https://www.credit-suisse.com/ca/en/news-and-expertise/topics/health-care.article.html/article/pwp/news-and-expertise/2013/09/en/is-sugar-turning-the-economy-sour.html Also--those USDA…

I would ask you to prove your assertions. ETA: Apparently Credit Swisse (of all people) are concerned about the economic impact of sugar consumption and disease in the Swiss people:…
-
I suppose you can prove those statements? How about the history of their sugar-habit? Is it, like ours, a post-WWII experiment? (And it should be remembered that Europeans, in general, have been late to the sugar party as, for a number of years after WWII, their biggest problem was getting enough calories in general.)…

"Ego Depletion", Freud (whose theories contributed to the experiment), and psychology, in general, are all BS.

Ninerbuff: "Toxic mean POISONOUS to the body if the dosage is high enough." And that is exactly what we are talking about. Even water is toxic if taken in excess. Taking in 500 calories of added sugar every day is not natural nor is it safe long term. Why do you think the American Heart Association is now speaking out…

There's all kinds of body weight exercise videos on the web. There are lots of people who have built a lot of muscle just doing body weight exercise.
