  • You look terrific! Now everyone can see your beautiful eyes!
  • I do 30 minutes on my stationery bike every morning. I also walk at least 30 minutes every day (sometimes 60 or 90 minutes). And I go the gym 2-3 times a week and use weight machines for 40-45 minutes. This, with calorie reduction, is working for me.
  • One thing that really helps me is drinking water. A lot of water! I find I get hungry if I drink 8 glasses of water. When I drink 10-12 glasses a day I'm not hungry. I drink water before and with meals and that helps. I think part of it is that it slows me down. And, of course, the water helps fill me up.

  • A few years ago I weighed 300+ pounds (click on the link to show all my profile photos to see one taken then--I put it out there to remind myself how far I've come!) and somewhere after losing 70 pounds I realized I couldn't wear my favorite skirt anymore without being in danger of it falling off! I bought another just…
  • Yes! It helps me hold myself accountable for the choices I make!
  • I'm the one who cooks Thanksgiving dinner so that helps. I make all the traditional food--turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables, ambroisa, butter rolls, and pies. I poll my sons and daughters-in-law for the two kinds of pies I will bake. I eat lots of turkey and vegetables on Thanksgiving Day; not much…
  • Lunch is my toughest meal. Today I had 1 slice of bacon with 2 slices of tomato on 1 piece of lightly buttered multigrain toast and a cup of tea with Splenda and a splash of milk. Sometimes I have 2 oz cheddar cheese with 8 pieces of multigrain wheat thins and 20 grape along with an apple with 2 tbs peanut butter. If I…

  • It is for me even though I only go two to three times a week. I live in a rural area and the gym is in the same town where I work two or three days a week part-time. On the days I work (usually just 3-4 hours), I also go to the gym. I do most of my cardio at home on a stationary bike or walking, but I do strength training…
  • This is good newsfor young men, but how about us older women? It's impossible to tell if this applies to us too.

  • I joined MFP two weeks ago. I lost 8.8 pounds the first week and that was with drinking 11-12 glasses of water per day. I knew this wouldn't continue and it hasn't. I lost a little less than 2 pounds the second week and it wouldn't surprise me if it goes to 1.5 pounds or less a week as I continue with the same amount of…
  • I don't run, but I do bike every morning and walk in the afternoon. I'm setting the following goals for myself for October: 200 miles biking (right now I'm biking 6 miles per day x 31 = 186 so that's just 14 more miles a month) 40 miles walking (right now I'm walking 30 minutes at 2.5 miles an hour x 31 = 38.75 miles) It's…
  • I do my cardio (stationary bike and walking) at home in the mornings, but gym (resistance training) I do in the late afternoon. I do it that way because I work part-time three times a week in a town 15 miles away where my gym is so I go there after work. This saves on traveling time and gas. I also like it because it's…

  • I haven't been near my "ideal" weight in years and years so I thought long and hard about what I wanted my goal weight to be. I'm 5'4" tall so my normal weight according to BMI is 107-145 lbs. I'm aiming for 145 which would be at the highest point of normal. When I was in my 20's I weighed 115-120 and I think I could get…
  • Hello everyone! My name is Monique and I live in the Pacific NW. I love a challenge and this is a good one. My weigh in day is Monday so I'll post my starting and goal weights then. I joined MFP last month and am thrilled to be here!
  • Ummm... nope. I've lost 9 pounds. I have ove5r 0 more to go. :-(
  • I am diabetic and use SweetMe as my user name on a diabetes board. I added "1" to distinguish one from the other.
  • I work out on a stationary bike for 30 minutes every morning after I get up, usually around 5am-6am. I walk at different time during the day, often arriving at work an hour early to walk, including up and down stairs. I go to the gym after work. It's not as busy then. I go straight home, shower, and fix dinner. This is…

  • I'm 62, short, and have low thyroid. All of this means slow metabolism. I've set my calorie goal at 1100. This is working for me. If it stops working I'll up the amount of calories. In the meantime, I'm sticking with it.

  • 98.6 but living as someone frail and possibly demented is not what I would want.
  • Greetings from Oregon! I weighed over 300 pounds five years ago and have just broken the 200 pound mark. Yay me! LOL I joined a week ago and my goal weight is 145 pounds. I have four sons and three daughters-in-law and I'm going to be a first-time nana in November. I think I picked one of the hardest times of the year to…
  • I've had people ask me if I've been sick. One was really concerned that I had cancer because I was "wasting away". I was still 75 pounds overweight at the time.
  • I am 5'4" and my goal weight is 145 pounds. That is the maximum BMI for someone my height to be in the "normal" weight range. I have no idea about jean sizes because I only wear dresses and skirts! LOL!
  • Hi! I'm also from Oregon. Please feel free to add me!
