Ooh, the British 10k? I was marshaling that, just past 6 km! I would be running, but it didn't fit with my marathon training. Anyway, I recommend the Brighton 10k, lovely race, great atmosphere. Also the MSF 10k in regents park, well organised run with fab volunteers and a super cause.

Well I've done it - just emailed in to swap my entry over. Here goes nothing :)

Done about 5 races, 3 10ks and a couple of 5 ' s. Also parkrun most weeks. Objectively I feel ready, just need to get my deepest, doubting brain to agree

Graze box - 1 punnet allowed a day!

I have it, I am asthmatic and have GORD (GERD). It is very possible for me to have the burn without wheezing or feeling breathless. I know my burn is asthma when it feels like an ice-fire, so my chest feels so cold it burns (like breathing in a freezer) When it is a hot burn, it is my reflux bothering me. Definitely get…

Get a referral to a dietician - you need professional advice if you have had gastro or bariatric surgery in the past.

I took 10 days off running. Miraculously everything healed and I am back doing more mileage with less pain than before

I rate Huel (https://huel.com/) I use it when I'm travelling and can't get hold of a decent, calorie-sensible meal (Brewers Fayre - I'm looking at you and your 1000 calorie salads!!!)
-
Kelloggs cornflakes and oat milk. Reminds me of being a child and being looked after by my mum when I was sick.
-
It made my GORD significantly worse and damaged my oesophagus and vocal cords. Just a warning :(

Yeah, tried a new battery etc. Got a call in with customer services now....

Oh god, I'd forgotten about the poo test. Not a pleasant experience as a student, walking up to the campus medical centre with my sample container wrapped in (several) plastic bags. re: the testing - it depends where you are. The breath test is more expensive, so generally comes second or third in the UK, not sure if that…

Sorry - late replying " tiny_clanger I was taking a PPI which was also a treatment for h. Pylori" You also need to be taking an antibiotic - H pylori is a bacteria, so a PPI alone will not kill it. If you have not been diagnosed before, a blood test can be done to identify antibodies which is a trigger for initial…

See the phone thing can work both ways. It's great as you're alerting someone that you feel threatened, but dangerous in that it removes some of your situational awareness and makes you feel more vulnerable. I'd consider incorporating a short call into step 5, but only if the benefit outweighs the risk - if I can quickly…

My top tip - rehearse it. There's a reason that pilots practice emergency situations and have checklists to go to for each eventuality. Sounds weird but my DH and I have practiced what happens if I feel threatened or, worst case, grabbed, both verbally and physically. The idea is to prepare a mental procedure, that is so…

Agree - hormones, and that the sensation of being satisfied does not necessarily equate to the calories needed. I'm a healthy eater, have been for a long time. I can't eat chocolate, desserts, etc and I very rarely crave chips or anything like that. But I still gain weight, I overeat on vegetables, fruit and nuts. I've…

Get your walking boots measured for you, it was the best thing I ever did when I was doing long distance walking. And wear them everywhere in the runup to your walk - down to the shops, round the park, whatever. The more you wear them, the kinder they will be to you! The other thing I'd say about long distance walking in…

I used to eat a bowlful (about 2 cups) of muesli with almond milk to get me from 7:30-6pm ish with no snacks or breaks. The nature of my job meant doing this for 2 weeks every year, and I used to lose about half a stone in those 2 weeks. This is not sustainable - I was only able to do it because the end was in sight and I…

I think it's the combination of the citrus acid and the milk. Try making it without the fruit, then mixing in the fruit in the morning. Also, make sure you're covering your pot in the fridge.

Suggestion 1 - Try chucking the gels - they are well known for causing digestive "distress". If you need fuel, try a combination of jelly babies/beans or soft candy and electrolytes in one of your water bottles. Suggestion 2 - Part of the reason this happens is that, as you exert, your brain diverts blood from the…

Definitely do it!! I completed the NHS Couch to 5K around February 2015. I signed up for my first 5k race in the April, ran it and loved it! Now running 10K's and doing a marathon April 2017 - you never know where the love will take you....:)

Have you been tested for H. pylori?
-
Blended summer berries and a banana. Maybe with some cacao nibs for crunch.

I use Huel quite a bit when travelling with work. It's easy and doesn't need a whole lot of thinking about. I prefer the nutritional profile of huel as it isn't bulked put by maltodextrin. It works really well for me.

Same time both days (in the morning before breakfast )

A. Possible - scale might have been dropped or something B. Hope not! Feel fine and have a 10k to run on Monday C. Interesting. . I've been going twice a day recently (ibs) but feel like there's a poo baby hanging round my abdomen! D. I'd rather have wingardium leviosa if I can choose my magic!

Mine has gone all rusty and horrible, so I don't use it any more. Use a mandoline or a veggie peeler instead. Top tip for the UK - Sainsburys has started selling courgetti and butternut squash noodles (boodles). Butternut squash noodles are so much nicer than courgetti!

Had to go to hospital for an outpatients appointment last week with a doctor I've not seen before. He was discussing some tests I need to have, then finished with "it would be unusual to see this condition in a young, fit person with a normal BMI." Woo hoo - not had a doctor look at me and assume my BMI is not in the…

If it's any consolation, since I started my marathon training plan 2 months ago, I've gained 3kg's (6.6 lb). I've also gone down a dress size, look visibly leaner and have had compliments on how healthy and fit I look and I'm running longer distances than I ever have before. I choose to ignore the scale. So long as…

I'm a moderate asthmatic, and your nurse is right, exercise will help you. The first thing I found when I started running was that I needed to understand what was breathlessness from being unfit and what was an asthma flare. As asthmatics, I think we can be very frightened (understandably!) of breathlessness, but some…
