  • Wha!?! I had no idea about this ...
  • I have an iPhone 4 and didn't realize till after I bought my One that it won't sync with an iPhone 4. Frustrating since I thought I'd done my research!
  • Once you start, you're glad you did, right? The hard part sometimes is just getting going. I had the same issues today. I did an hour of yoga, which I love, but I just was feeling run down. Then later I did ChaLEAN Extreme and didn't think I had the energy. I did it though and felt great.
  • 115-116. Just trying to get a wee bit leaner, more muscle. Maybe 2-3 pounds of actual fat, but now that I'm lifting again, I expect to gain some muscle weight, so my scale weight may not budge much.
  • I recently tried a sugar detox that is basically paleo (no grains) but also no sugar. It was hell for me. Mostly because I love me some grains! Hot cereal, cold cereal, bread ... I was just miserable, personally. I didn't make it very far. But I know people who love the paleo life. Personally, I am of the belief that too…
  • http://www.coachcalorie.com/not-eating-enough-calories-to-lose-weight/ Last year I was losing weight on 1300 cals/day. But then I plateaued. I followed this advice and upped my calories to about 1600 a day and continued with my workouts. I lost a few more pounds from increasing my calories.
  • That sounds so good! -- ETA - I was referring to the peanut-butter-honey rice cake, but I forgot to quote the post I was referencing.
  • I only recently started looking at sugar grams. I was really surprised how quickly I'd go over the recommended amount of 20-25g a day for a woman. I was counting natural sugars like fruits and veggies against that and it was practically impossible. Now I accept natural sugars as "whatever" and just focus on "added" sugars,…
  • Is the HRM really that accurate when it comes to weight training? I have been doing that, too, but I guess I thought it didn't measure right when it's not a typical "cardio" workout. I mean, yeah, there's a definite cardio effect and you get to breathing hard, for sure!
  • I just got a Fitbit less than a week ago and love it. But it's different from a HRM -- it doesn't actually measure your heart rate. Calorie burn is just a guess over the course of the day. It helps to link it to MFP and input your exercise here -- then Fitbit reconciles the proposed calorie burn on here with itself during…
  • That's interesting. Never thought about that and assumed HRMs were going to be more accurate. Perhaps I'm totally wrong about this, but it seems like the HRM would be more accurate because it knows how hard you are working. A treadmill, for instance, only knows how fast you're going, and for someone who is super fit, 4.5…
  • I got a heart rate monitor and noticed that I burn less than most of these online calculators (including MFP) say. And I also do a lot of yoga, which is strenuous but hard to measure. I tend to underestimate by a lot for things like that on MFP because I'd rather underestimate than overestimate and eat too much! I tend to…
  • My heaviest weights are 15 lbs, so I'm kinda like you. I am not quite ready to go heavier -- but I wish I could find 17 lbs weights somewhere. It seems like the next step is 20 lbs, and that's kind of a big jump.
  • I have done six weeks of it before and just restarted it a month ago. I adore it. It's a weight-training DVD and comes in three 1-month segments. Each 1 month phase has three different workouts, so you do each of those every week and repeat for four weeks, then move to the next phase. It's designed to build muscle fast. I…
  • I don't think using a HR monitor to measure calories burned during non-cardio workouts is very effective. Yoga can have a cardio effect, but so can weight lifting, and you wouldn't get an accurate reading from a HR monitor during weight lifting. I think of my yoga as a sort-of cardio workout, but more-so, I think of it as…
  • I know this is an old thread, but I found it while googling. I have a program called DDP Yoga, and the instructor is really, really big about people wearing a HR monitor while doing it. His purpose is to keep you in your fat burning zone for the most effective weight loss, but I suppose not for counting calories burned. So…
