I agree. I either use my heart rate monitor data (which is lower than, say, the treadmill screen) or I use online calculators for my calorie burn and then input less than that on MFP so that if anything, I'm underestimating my calorie burn. Better that way than to overestimate and overeat. Also, what other people say --…

It's work. You'll have good days and bad days. But set your mind to it and keep a food diary every day. Exercise every day, even if you only have a few minutes. And forgive yourself when you make mistakes -- don't let them send you into a downward spiral. That's my advice! Best of luck.

Congratulations! Great job!

I usually power through them. If it's a particularly bad month, I might have cramps and pain through my butt and back thighs and terrible fatigue, so I'll skip that day and just listen to my body. I normally work out in one way or another every day, so skipping a day is no big deal.

Me, too. I can stay afloat and not drown, but I don't remember how to do any real swimming strokes. But my back is hurting a lot and someone suggested just walking laps in a pool, so maybe that's an option. That would be pretty good cardio.

My diary is currently private but things I eat include: almond butter on apple peanut butter on celery raw nuts eggs chicken bacon (I don't care for other kinds of pork) sometimes beef cheese cottage cheese plain Greek yogurt with a bit of honey or some fresh fruit salmon pumpkin-banana paleo pancakes (each serving has 2…

I wish I liked the bands. I really prefer the feel of the free weights. But I've invested a lot in them and I'm not sure how many more I want to buy. I have 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15. A friend is going to sell me some cheap 20s. Also, they take up more space in my den.

I eat dinner at 8:30ish most nights. I work swing shift, so what can I do? I don't feel like it matters when you eat.
-
Really, really awesome!
-
OK, yeah. Now looking at your diary I see that you are not eating well at all. It's more than just total calories. You need better quality foods.

Has anyone suggested this site yet? http://www.coachcalorie.com/not-eating-enough-calories-to-lose-weight/ I think dropping down to 1200-1300 cals for a short while can work, but not for a long while. I read that article and bumped up my calorie and lost a bit more by eating more.

Say what? That's crazy talk. LIFT. Lift heavy. Lift often.

Great job! I'm starting 30DS tomorrow for the first time. I hope I stick with it and get great results, too!
-
I like to bake it and then cut it open and put just a little bit of butter and sea salt and pepper.

OK, I'm in. I had to go to three stores to find it, then back to Walmart for 3 lb weights, which were totally embarrassing to buy! I was like, "they're not for me! They're for my hamster." Starting Shred tomorrow, if I'm feeling well, since I've had a bit of a cold.
-
I have that one too and I sometimes experience a short delay in getting it to read my heart rate when I start up, but mostly it works easily and fine, so I hope you get your new one quickly!
-
Sounds like a dud to me! I'd just send it back.

I've been interested in this -- can someone tell me a bit more about what kind of workouts they are? Weight training or cardio or both? I'm doing ChaLEAN Extreme right now -- just starting the second phase. I'm not sure if this would be in addition to or in place of that. Also, are all of the workouts 20 minutes? Thanks.

5'4" and 115. I wear a size 2. But when I was 124ish I wore a 6 and at 133 I wore an 8. But for me and my particular build, I was pretty flabby at a size 6 or 8. I know that some people are not.

I flexed for my husband the other day and he was kinda grossed out. Annoying. I'm tiny and don't look muscular when I'm not flexing. I was proud of my hard work.

This is probably totally inaccurate, but I enter mine as cardio and put in the info from my heart rate monitor. It's not very many calories, and I don't really expect it to be. I haven't really found a good way to do it, especially since I do ChaLEAN Extreme DVDs and not standard singular weight training exercises at the…

So, what I'm gathering is that if you are sedentary all day EXCEPT for your exercise, but you exercise each day, to just choose sedentary and add in your exercise? As opposed to assuming that the exercise itself makes you "active" and choosing that but not inputting your exercise? I'm still sorta confused. I have mine at…

I initially added strawberries to make it more palatable. Now I like it just plain. I like Daisy the best because it's the "cleanest" if you compare ingredient lists -- for me that's true even in area health stores.

Me too! Honestly, I think it's pretty simple. Cardio is good for your heart/lungs. You don't need tons of it. I mean, you don't need to train for a marathon or anything. The best way to burn lots of calories is to increase your metabolism, not to walk or run or jump around for 30 minutes. Boosting your metabolism overall…

I do. I don't clean very often and when I do, it's really hard work! ;) I usually do it in place of a workout, and I usually do it for 3 hours or so, so I think it counts as extra calorie burn just like exercise. Especially if it's really heavy cleaning.

I would agree with whierd. But here is my info: I'm 5'4", 115lbs, 22% body fat. I aim for 1400-1500 per day but add in whatever exercise I do. So usually more like 1800-1900/day. On the rare occasion I don't exercise at all, I usually manage to go over on my calories, but I usually do an hour of strenuous yoga in the…

Add me? I'm 39 and lost the last of the baby weight last summer. I'm a good weight, but I have some fitness goals I want to reach. I want to be in the best shape of my life by the time I turn 40. I love to work out, but I have a hard time staying on track with my diet.
-
I know how that goes! I've been doing well, but this weekend I made cookies and binged. Then I seemed to have caught what my son has and feel crappy, so I haven't been exercising for a few days and have turned to comfort food. I don't worry about the exercise -- I love that. But I do worry that I'll get off track eating…
