Peggy, I'd be interested in knowing what your psychiatrist puts you on.

Hi Alex. Addiction is enough to handle without being bipolar and ADD. Not to mention Prozac is a weight gainer, I don't know much about Tegretal. Does it affect your weight also? Praying you have a successful recovery!

Oh my gosh, you are all giving me goosebumps! I'm on the mood stabilizer Lamictal, AD meds Zoloft and Wellbutrin and Klonopin, Xanax and Clonodine for anxiety. I was diagnosed as Bi-Polar in 2007 after my first hospital visit. Before then I was being treated for depression and anxiety. I was working a very high-stress job…

From Daily Strength: This sentence hit me like a brick especially after yesterdays emotional eating binge..... "I discovered, for example, that overeating was not the problem. Rather, overeating was my overused solution to the stress and discomfort of everyday life." anywho, read it and enjoy....…

Thank you everyone for your responses. You've helped me remember why I'm here in the first place. Like I said, I have no intention of quitting, I don't recall when I weighed what I do now, but it was probably 20+ years ago. (right after I got married) I'm learning to like me and still love food. I  cheese …

Summer is the absolute worst time to stay on track!!!!!!!!!!! Too many parties, weddings, graduations, cookouts, ice cream (yum) grab-and-go food because you're too busy to do anything else. Life returns back to normal and so will you. This month you will rock it as most of the crazy fun stuff is over. (by crazy fun, I…

Yes, a sensitivity to gluten can cause headaches. My daughter went gluten free, her migraines stopped, her IBS went away and she lost 60lbs without watching what she eats (except for the gluten part ) Do your research, there is gluten in so many things you wouldn't expect, especially condiments. Everyone wants to…

We binge on carbs because they release serotonin into our brains, that's the feel-good chemical. Of course knowing why and stopping are two totally different things. When wanting to eat emotionally tell yourself to HALT Hurt Angry/Anxious Lonely Tired Sometimes it helps understanding why you want to binge and then find…

I keep water on my nightstand and take a drink. If that doesn't stop the hunger pains, then it's time to get up and have a piece of fruit.

DId you know that the nose is the only one of the 5 senses (I'm such a smarta$$, I know) that is connected directly to the brain? I love aromatherapy, it can so brighten your mood, calm you down and de-stress.

My favorite Terry Pratchett quote (okay, one of my favorites) "There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to…

I had my knee replaced in 2007. I was told 30 years before a new replacement. I think it depends on what kind of knee they use (mine is a Zimmer for women) and how it was done. Instead of gluing mine in, they ummm, spiked it into the bones. yep. Everyone's experience and recovery are different. I had mine replaced because…

good morning ladies, sorry I wasn't around too much yesterday, I had a bad day, was feeling really down, so I did what my therapist said (for a change LOL) and turned off all external stimuli. No TV, no computer, just an old book and bed. It really helped to recharge my brain. It's something to think about doing when you…

Saturday share: During the last 3 years (when I was 1st diagnosed as bipolar) I have learned a lot about reducing stress. One way, which is really quick and can be done anywhere anytime is abdominal breathing: 1. Place one hand on your abdomen right beneath your rib cage 2. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose into…
