  • I do speedwalking during the intervals at first until I can do the entire program (my route involves some steep hills) without "tapping out". Then I do wogging (jogging, but at a walking pace (hey, I'm short, everyone else isn't)) until I can do that same program without "tapping out" again - it takes a lot of extra time,…
  • Hi! I’m a Spoonie too! I have a number of autoimmune issues, and am fighting to maintain mobility. I’m also hoping to lose a little weight but am focusing on trying to keep me as healthy as I can be. I’d also like to have more friends on here so we can encourage each other!
  • Amy Pennsylvania 40-something lol I'm a girl 170-174 ish - currently ill, so it changes Goal weight -BIG- 125-135 Goal Weight -10%- 156ish Goal -- get healthy-ish  What keeps me motivated? I had to reduce a BP med, might actually get it removed! Looser clothes....and less arthritis pain! "I like to move it, move…

  • I feel outdated, lol. I use paper & pencil and the multitude of cookbooks in my cupboards. I have gotten fairly decent at subsituting for my own dietary restrictions that the rest of the household doesn't share.
  • Right now my only "added sugar" is a spoonful in my tea cups (BIIIIG cup, lol). I am aiming for most of my sugars to come from fruits and the occasional rice.
  • Nuts, jerky, trail mix, freeze-dried fruits/veges, dehydrated fruits/veges.... There's lots to find out there, just gotta mind calories.... nuts & jerkey will have more calories than the veges....
  • Sure! I'm on this trip too. Let's try being healthy together!
  • Already started! Gotta get new shoes though... Gained too much between Thanksgiving and Christmas ....
  • So far only out Sugar in my morning tea. Might have a tsp in one later tonight....need to wean off it a bit more. Taking that final step with the sodas, and it was kindof rough, but remembered I'd bought some new flavored teas. My boys even had a cup ready for me! They're so sweet!
  • Almost 5 miles at work today. Desperately need new shoes! Will order new nursing shoes this weekend and new exercise shoes next week.
  • Vertigo is gone, van has died, and I'm doing much better at my nursing assistant job! Car shopping this weekend! Gotta find something we can afford.
  • Turns out the spinning I've been feeling is actually a migraine of sorts... Feel better just knowing it's pinned down lol! Got my son some good winter driving experience too, as he had to drive home. We're getting 5-7 more inches on top of the inch of ice from the last storm... hope I can get to work tomorrow!
  • USMC, I'm in about that same boat. Parents are type 2, brother is type 1, and I was gestational diabetic ... my Doc also said it's WHEN not IF I get it.... start cutting added sugar and that should help. It's really hard, but you can do it!
  • Been fighting vertigo the past week ... ruled out stroke &/or heart issues, now trying to get in with an ENT specialist (good luck, hope I still have a job! ) sooner rather than later ..... starting to get a little down & desperate the longer it goes ....
  • Ok, still adjusting to the VERY active Nursing Assistant job - I'm often too tired to even THINK about doing C25k training.... - Today, I had pains in my right shoulder (arthritis throughout the right side of me) and the arm's been weak all day - I really hope this resolves on it's own, but if it hasn't improved by…
  • I estimate... I too try to stay as far away from processed foods as I can - but I'm a sucker for lunchmeat & sodas..... I also try to limit my portions - very hard for me at times....
  • Roady29 - LOVE that image you've got there! Ok, the nursing home I work at is "quarantined" in that we're asking visitors to either wear masks or limit their time. Most of us that work there are also wearing masks (did I start a fashion trend?). I'm scrubbing my hands so much my knuckles are getting raw (or it at least…
  • Hello! Went to the Doctor's on Tuesday for my arthritis & a medication review, Rheum Doc did some adjustments & I'm not in as much pain and did well at work yesterday. She also said that if I take care of my joints, I can work full-time as a Nursing Assistant, but that if I don't, the joints will put me out of work. So I…
  • I'd love to know too - after 4 surgeries cutting through it, I really need H.E.L.P!
  • I have Crohn's too! I agree with all of the above - although I tolerate citric acid okay, sometimes fiber gives me issues (ie: broccoli, unless steamed to death is on my no-no list along with brussel sprouts). I went back to cooking 90% of stuff from scratch, and my scope at the end of last year revealed I was in deep…
  • Easing my way back into my Cto5K program on Podrunner - heart's too tired today, so I'll do today's run tomorrow - need to be flexible until I adjust to the additional workload...
  • Exactly, cucumbers for example, lots of water AND high in Vit K.
  • I was malnourished in my teens due to Crohn's - it is VERY difficult for me to lose weight (possibly due to the high doses of Prednisone from ages 13-19?). I do find I can lose on a high protein/fat & lower carb diet - but still have to workout like a madwoman...
  • Coming in late, but better late than never! I am in my mid-40's, have a stent & several auto-immune isssues Goals for the rest of November: 1. Consistently hit my 10,000 steps every day (sometimes higher when I'm at work) 2. Going sugar-free (except for my turmeric mixture) as of lunchtime today. (Sugarholic) 3. Get to…
  • I am going to try the 3 days without sugar - but now I need a good substitute for my Pepsi Freeze - anyone know if I can order a Chai Latte without sugar?
  • Be like Dori from "Finding Nemo" and "just keep trying!" Persistence pays off, and while I've still got my original 60 pounds to still lose, I'm starting to see success in inches and energy levels. I remember how good I felt after a jog, and then got derailed at the beginning of last year with an acute activation of…
  • My cardiologist told me to take enough Fish Oil, so that I am getting a total of 1000 EPA + DHA. He says it's good for my heart/cholesterol and other health issues.
  • My younger 2 out of my 3 boys have started doing the exercise routines with me - since I want to be able to run again, for us, it's using Podrunner.com for inspiration. I have used that AND the noexcusesworkouts.com to bounce back after my stent was placed (at that time, couldn't even vacuum a 15x15 room without stopping…
  • Hi Ladies! I too have been on-again, off-again with diet/exercise, been a little more consistent since the stent insert. Felt my best 2 summers ago - had been riding my bike the 3 miles to work & back (am no longer working there though) and then the arthritis hit. A year plus in "recovery mode", and I'm starting up the…
