I'm dating a French model...I met him on the internet.

First, I don't practise based on information in "person blogs" or "internet forum posts". Medical Nutrition Therapy has been my profession as well as a passion for me for a long time. I read current peer reviewed journals to stay up to date as well as attend graduate continuing education programs on a regular basis, along…

"Most" nutrition scientists and doctors?? Not true. At least not the up to date/well informed ones. I am a Licensed/Reg. Dietitian and have been working in the field of clinical nutrition with many, many MD's for the past 20 yrs and I can tell you that "we" have not been recommending low saturated fat diets for quite some…

Comparing stevia (a plant extract) to saccharine is like comparing red beet juice to red acrylic paint. Stevia extract is safe for use and has been sold as a food additive since 1971. It was only recently approved to be sold under the term "sugar substitute" but it is not a new thing and is just as safe for regular use in…

Yeah...what the heck is a "boiled sweet"?? Hmm....First post. Newbie?

Lenny, I think it's great that you are sharing your success with so many others. You are an incredible inspiration!!

I use Unjury too and I like it. It's a good quality protein and it mixes well. I also get it for free so that is mainly why I use it. They also have an unflavored one that is great to mix into savory foods. 20g protein per scoop/100cals.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley, so all other carbohydrates are gluten free. Carbohydrates are starches and sugars and are found in plant products, so, fruits, vegetables, and grains. You don't need a significant increase per se in your carbohydrate intke to train for a half marathon. Not sure what your…

This is very true. Good Nutrition does not happen in a vaccuum...It's much more global. Well said.

Me too.

With that many foods seeming to bother your stomach, it points to a more generalized digestive disorder vs an intolerance/allergy to specific food substances. i would recommend seeing a gastroenterologist. Milk protein allergies are not uncommon, but if you feel you are now intolerant to raisins, dates, legumes and ginger…

Let us give thanks and praise...amen.

Sounds to me like you should address your digestive issues. Is it only soy and lactose you are intolerant to? Have you seen a physician and/or had allergy testing done? Have you tried taking digestive ensyme supplements when you eat? Most whey protein powders are virtually lactose free by the way, so if it's lactose you…

Really?? So...the calories from the fat in the avocado will make you fat? Huh.

I am a huge prponent of the use of fermented foods for both thr ezymatic and probiotic benefits. I drink kombucha tea that I buy at Earthfair. It is amazing but I dont have the time/desire to make it myself. I have my own yogurt and kiefer and eat a loy of Greek yogurt for the probiotic benefitss. Sourkraut and kimchee are…

That's none of your damn business and I'll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs.

**Keep in mind when reading this, it is meant and therefore written for, clinician use and therefore may not be a good practical use tool for the general public. I say this because people may tend to pck out "one line" to criticize and/or analyze from a very narrow prospective and this is not how the guidelines are used in…

Thank you, Jane! I'm glad you find this helpful! :0)

I agree with this....I was really hoping to see some updated guidelines showing more of a deliniation between trans and sat fats. There is mounting evidence to suggest that not all types of saturated fats (if any) contribute significantly to plague buildup in the arteries and/or the production of LDL cholesterol in the…

As a diabetes educator, I am a huge advocate for pump therapy. Good luck with the process. Omnipod is a good choice.

Just curious why you didn't just "google" it to find where to buy it? This always confuses me when people ask where to buy a product.

There is nothing like a REALLY good Philly cheesesteak...Worth every calorie and every mile I have to run to burn it off. God I miss cheesesteaks.

Oh...I miss Baccala! I grew up in PA in an Italian family and my father always made Baccala at christmas. We always had it in a basic marinara sauce with linguini and good bread. Now I really want to make it but don't know where I could find good salted cod around here.

Well, since you're trying to help...Sure. ;)
